Chapter 283: Uncle surely has someone in his heart.

Grandpa, Grandma...

Zoe Bell recalled that when she first joined the Bell Family, the elderly couple was still around and didn’t like her, feeling that an adopted child wasn’t truly of Bell blood.

However, Kevin Bell had said that adopting her would earn them a good reputation;

raising a daughter could later facilitate a marriage alliance, bringing benefits to the family.

It seemed a fortune teller also played a part, claiming that if they adopted her, Vivi Lange would be able to conceive.

Such deep calculations.

She didn’t know what kind of temperament the elderly Payne couple had, or whether they would like her or not.

"What are you thinking about?" William Hale asked as he saw her spacing out.

"Brother said, Grandpa and Grandma are coming back early."

"You mean the elderly Payne couple?" Isaac Shea had overheard their conversation unintentionally.

"You know them?"

"My mother is a long-time customer of Payne Corps, and I had the fortune to meet them a few times with her. They’re quite strict in business but quite nice privately."

Zoe Bell nodded with a smile.

"Mr. Shea, I have some questions about the last experiment I’d like to discuss with you." Simon Hale stood up and left the living room.

It was clear he wanted to talk to him alone.

The two of them entered Simon Hale’s study, and as soon as the door opened, he exploded, "Isaac Shea, when did you and Sister Hannah start? Of all people, why did you have to fall for her?"

"It’s probably what they call love."

"Do you really like her?"

"Genuinely."

"You’re insane."

"I’m fairly normal, it’s your current mental state that worries me."

Isaac Shea scrutinized him, "We’re in the same project team, and we’re going to see each other often. I’m really worried it will impact you."

"What are you planning to do?" Simon Hale frowned.

"If it really bothers you to see me, I could talk to our mentor and have you transferred out of this project team."

"..."

Simon Hale went berserk.

This was downright threatening.

His studies and experiments were his life; being transferred out of the project team was akin to killing him.

"Mr. Shea, I always feel like I’ve never really known the real you."

"Now that I have a new identity, there’s still time to reacquaint ourselves."

"What identity? Young Master Shea?"

"Isn’t it your brother-in-law?"

Simon Hale gritted his teeth in anger.

Such a shameless man.

Unable to do anything to him, Simon Hale opened the door and stepped out, only to find Hannah Johnson right outside the door. The soundproofing was so good she hadn’t heard their conversation, her brows furrowed, "Simon Hale, you didn’t bully him, did you?"

"I..."

Simon Hale exploded.

Couldn’t she see his face had turned green with anger?

"Hannah, he didn’t bully me," Isaac Shea walked out.

"That’s good." Hannah Johnson looked at him, "Then why do you look so down?"

"I’m just a bit sad."

"What’s wrong?"

"I feel like Simon doesn’t like me anymore, even though we used to have a good relationship." His tone was quite heartbroken.

Simon Hale: "..."

This was a rare sight.

He never thought there could be male "green tea bitches" in this world!

Clearly, he was the one being threatened, but in a blink of an eye, Isaac managed to play the victim.

Upon returning to the living room, William Hale glanced at his distressed cousin, "Got bullied?"

"Big brother, you understand?"

"I’ve seen it before."

The night when cousin had trouble, Wyatt had already seen the methods of Young Master Shea. Since his younger cousin spent most of his time at school and was unaware of the malevolence of people, encountering him was bound to be a disadvantage.

"Big brother, are you really willing to call him a brother-in-law?"

"They’re not married yet, so why call him a brother-in-law?"

William Hale was stubborn.

Anyway, there wasn’t even a hint of their relationship being set yet. Unless they truly got married and registered, he would never change his words.

"That’s true, at this moment, calling him a brother-in-law is too premature. Not everyone is like Wyatt, who’d please someone without any bottom line." Simon Hale surveyed the living room. "Where is that kid?"

"He went with his uncle to get a reward."

"What?"

"He helped him get rid of unwanted love interests."

"..."

Wyatt Hale had received quite a bit of spending money today—a portion from his elder brother, a portion from his sister-in-law, and a portion from his uncle. He instantly felt that his life was incredibly prosperous.

After all, money was still necessary.

"Uncle," Wyatt Hale was using his cellphone, checking his bank account balance, with a delighted smile, "Please don’t ever fall for Miss Payne."

"You’re not familiar with her. Why would you dislike her?" Finn Hale was curious.

"Intuition."

Finn Hale chuckled lowly, "Don’t worry, she’s not my type."

"What type do you like then?"

Finn Hale raised an eyebrow and Wyatt Hale immediately smiled ingratiatingly, "I spoke too much, I’ll leave now."

He was young and a bit naive, but not foolish.

Not his type?

That means he had a standard, or rather, a specific person in mind.

Could the rumors be true that he went to great lengths to chase his wife even to the crematorium?

Was there really such a person?

With such a temper like his uncle’s, it was common to drive people away.

The girl made a wise choice not choosing him.

---

After Hannah Johnson and Isaac Shea left, the elder Hales kept talking on and on.

"The Shea boy is really good, tell me, why is it that consuming the same grains, someone else’s child turns out to be so outstanding?" Old Sir Hale wondered.

Old Lady chuckled lightly, "Are our children not good?"

"Which one is worry-free?"

"..."

Wyatt Hale hummed lightly, "Grandpa and Grandma, you’ve only met him twice. He definitely showed his best side in front of you. Maybe he snores and grinds his teeth privately, you just don’t know."

Everyone in the Hale family: "..."

Wyatt Hale had just been flattering him by calling him a brother-in-law, and now he had changed his tune.

Zoe Bell chuckled lowly:

My brother couldn’t possibly be like a reed blowing in the wind, could he?

No sooner had Wyatt Hale finished speaking than he was warned by the look in his grandfather’s eyes and quickly hid behind his sister-in-law.

While Zoe Bell went to the Incense Making Room, he tagged along like a leg attachment. During their conversation, he brought up some gossip about Finn Hale, "Sister-in-law, believe me, he absolutely has someone in his heart."

"How do you know?"

"Intuition." Wyatt Hale whispered, "My sixth sense is always accurate."

Zoe Bell just smiled and reminded him, "Your uncle is an elder. Don’t pry into his affairs too much, or it might backfire."

Wyatt Hale nodded hurriedly, "Sister-in-law, you haven’t been going to rehab recently, do you no longer need to?"

"No, it’s just that I don’t need to go that frequently. In a few days, I still need to go for a check-up at Grandpa Lewis’s."

Zoe Bell’s leg had mostly recovered.

But she still walked with a limp; full recovery still required time.

Zoe Bell went to Peter Lewis every two weeks for a CT scan project.

With difficulty walking, she sat on one side and rested, while Kyle Lowe handled the queuing and calling, as during this season, influenza was severe and the hospital was crowded. Zoe Bell sat in the resting area, looking down at her phone.

Hannah Johnson had managed to procure several ancient incense recipes for her, and she was studying them.

Someone sat next to her.

She initially didn’t pay attention, but the strong smell of medicine from the person finally made her turn her head and glance.

An elderly lady, about in her seventies, with a head of silver hair, holding a customized cane, wearing silver-framed thin glasses with eyeglass chains dangling at the sides, dressed simply, yet with an impressive demeanor.
