Chapter 280: 279 Mr. Hale Schemes Against Uncle Again, Truly a Good Nephew (2 more Chapters)

Old Lady Hugh felt that Isaac Shea’s personality was too nice and her granddaughter was stubborn and dominant; she was always worried the relationship wouldn’t last long, but she soon realized she was wrong.

"Grandma, Auntie, please take a seat, I’ll go cook."

Isaac Shea went into the kitchen, and Yumi Johnson signaled to her daughter to help out.

Hannah Johnson’s culinary skills were mediocre; she was just there to assist.

She was asked to pick vegetables, but she ended up removing many of the good leaves.

Isaac Shea just smiled and complimented, "You are doing great."

"You go out and keep Grandma and Auntie company, I can handle things here."

"Can you manage alone?" After all, he had to cook for four people today without any preparation.

"Probably not, I’ll call you if I need help."

"Okay."

...

Watching the two interact for a while, the old lady noticed:

In this relationship, the person who took the initiative didn’t seem to be her domineering granddaughter.

Isaac Shea was very eloquent, and even when he used unpleasant words, he knew how to soothe.

When she tasted the meal Isaac Shea had made, she understood why her granddaughter always complained about the food at the old house every time she returned; she couldn’t believe this kid had such good cooking skills.

"Do you usually cook?" Yumi inquired.

Isaac Shea just smiled and said, "My job is more relaxed, I can mostly stick to regular work hours."

"I am not much of a businessman, so I can’t help her much at work, but I try my best to take good care of her life."

"You don’t think our Hannah is too domineering?" the old lady asked.

"Really? I think her temper is quite good."

"..."

Even Hannah herself didn’t believe that.

Ever since she had driven her biological father out of the house and torn into her stepdad’s mistress, the entire Capital City labeled her a wicked woman; nobody would dare to mess with her if they weren’t coveting the wealth behind her.

Old Lady Hugh and Yumi Johnson didn’t stay long in the Yarden; Hannah escorted them to the elevator.

"This guy is quite nice; treat him well and don’t abandon him midway," the old lady advised.

Hannah was speechless, "Grandma, do I really seem that bad in your eyes?"

"Your temper isn’t the best for sure."

"That kid seems too soft."

Hannah pursed her lips, "That’s because you don’t know him well enough."

That kid could really play the victim and gain sympathy.

"Then, find some time to bring him to the old house for a meal, let me observe him more."

"He’s only three years younger than you? Why do I feel like he’s lying about his age?"

Hannah forced a smile.

Isaac Shea indeed looked younger, otherwise, she wouldn’t have mistaken him for a male college student initially.

Before Yumi entered the car, she pulled her daughter aside and said, "I know you haven’t dated because of the issues between your father and me."

"Whether or not you can develop this relationship into something permanent, grow old together, is uncertain."

"As long as you like him, date him seriously, no matter what happens in the future, Mom and Grandma will always be behind you."

Hannah nodded and when she arrived home, Isaac Shea had already tidied up the dinner table.

"I feel like Grandma and Mom like you better?" Hannah said with a pursed lip.

Isaac Shea chuckled lowly, "It’s the same, ever since they met you, my own mom has become a stepmother."

Hannah burst out laughing, "Why hadn’t I noticed before, you are quite good at making tea?"

"Are you talking about today’s fruit tea?"

"Green tea!"

"..."

**

Ever since the relationship with Isaac Shea became public, no one dared to set their sights on Hannah; after all, few would dare compete with the Shea family over a relationship. The Hale Family was quite pleased when they heard the news.

The elderly Hales were particularly fond of Hannah and invited her and Isaac Shea to their home for a meal.

However, William Hale kept a cold face throughout, causing the old man to be displeased, "What? You’re not happy your cousin is dating?"

"Happy."

"Smile a bit."

"I can’t force a smile."

"Later, when your cousin brings someone here, don’t put on a sad face and scare Teacher Shea," Brock Hale cautioned.

William Hale’s face showed no emotion.

Scare him?

Do you really know what kind of person he is?

Mr. Grant, who bullied Zoe, was scared to insanity by him; yet you still think this puppy is pure and harmless?

This kid is quite good at pretending!

Simon Hale was equally depressed.

A perfectly good teacher, now turned into a brother-in-law.

Isaac Shea was highly skilled, and Simon always respected him.

He vaguely remembered, the day he brought Isaac Shea home, he only mentioned it casually and never thought that Mr. Shea would actually come back with him, and now thinking about it...

Could I possibly be part of their play?

"Brother, should you call Isaac Shea ’brother-in-law’ in the future, or switch to calling Zoe ’master’s wife’?" Logan joked, trying to suppress his laughter.

"Shut your mouth."

At the side, Finn Hale said blandly, "Accept the reality, people always have to look forward."

Simon tried to smile.

You should save that advice for yourself.

I’m not the one stuck in the past, unable to move forward.

You are the one who should look ahead.

But he dared not say these words out loud; he could only grumble in his heart.

Meanwhile, the sound of a car approached from outside.

Zoe Bell, who had been in the Incense Making Room, thought it was her cousin arriving. Now, she could walk without crutches, though she was still somewhat mobility impaired.

As she reached the front hall, the servant said, "The Payne Family has arrived."

"That’s good, the more the merrier," the Old Lady laughed.

But then the servant continued, "It’s not Mr. and Mrs. Payne, but..."

It was Iva Payne and Celine Payne!

"Why have they come?" The Old Lady frowned unhappily, having heard about Kevin Bell’s issues some time ago.

"They said they’ve come to apologize."

The guests had arrived, and since they were members of the Payne Family, whom Zoe had already recognized as relatives, it would not be appropriate to turn them away; so, she let them in.

It was Celine’s first visit to the Old House of Hale Family.

With its pavilions, terraces, and painted walls, it was a classic southern garden architecture.

"I heard Finn Hale renovated the Old House of Hale; no wonder it’s so beautiful," Celine remarked, dressed up not only to apologize but also to make a good impression on the Hale elders.

If she could visit often and win the elders’ favor, wouldn’t that give her more chances to get close to Finn?

"The Hale Family is no ordinary family; keep your little schemes to yourself!" Iva cautioned.

She examined her daughter, frowning deeply.

They were here to apologize; it would have been fine for her daughter to dress modestly and appropriately, but she insisted on dressing so elaborately and wouldn’t take advice.

She was going to drive her mother mad!

Meanwhile, in the front hall of the Hale Family, upon hearing their arrival, Finn stood up, wanting to return to his room.

"Our guests have arrived; where are you going?" Old Sir Hale frowned.

"I’m tired."

William Hale commented, "Uncle is scared."

Old Sir Hale, sipping his tea, asked, "What do you mean?"

"That Celine Payne has taken a liking to Uncle Finn."

"Puh—" The old man choked on his tea.

In an instant, all eyes of the Hale Family turned towards him.

Even Wyatt Hale looked sympathetic:

Poor Uncle,

Too many admirers aren’t an issue, but unwanted ones are really bothersome.

Finn’s face darkened as he looked at William.

You really are a great nephew!
