Chapter 269: 268 Who is the decent person discussing matters on the bed (2 more updates)

Everyone was shocked, but Michale Shaw didn’t really care.

The Shea Family was one of his biggest sponsors.

Not to mention a brother-in-law.

Even if he had to call him "Daddy," he would.

Making money wasn’t easy these days; what’s a little humility?

After shouting it out, he even winked and grimaced at Isaac Shea.

Zoe Bell caught a glimpse of Mr. Hale’s darkened face from the corner of her eye as he struggled to suppress his laughter.

Michale Shaw really was...

Unexpected!

After his brother-in-law shout-out, it left William Hale unsure how to respond—he was indeed a good "brother."

Michale knew his place; he couldn’t afford to offend the Shea Family and certainly wouldn’t dare upset Hannah Johnson, since not only would he lose business, but he’d face "revenge" from his sister—Hale was her paternal cousin, and her uncle was her elder.

The fire would definitely be directed at him.

He didn’t want to be cannon fodder.

Even Isaac Shea was momentarily taken aback by his words, despite having been serious just moments before.

Michale stood up, poured him a cup of tea, "Brother-in-law, you must be thirsty after all this talking, have some water."

"Thank you," Isaac Shea said as he accepted the water, still dazed, "Young Master Shaw, I can’t live up to that title."

"You’re just not used to it; I’ll call you that a few more times."

Zoe Bell couldn’t hold back and burst out laughing.

Michale Shaw...

Had much thicker skin than Little Wyatt.

At least Wyatt knew to be afraid; in front of William and Finn Hale, he dared not act rashly.

Michale was completely fearless.

After handing tea to Isaac, he asked, "Brother-in-law, what’s your high calling?"

"I work as teaching-assistant at a university."

"Doctor?"

"Yes."

Michale’s expression blaringly spelled two words:

Awesome!

"I heard from Chairman Shea long ago that you were very outstanding, just didn’t expect such achievements at such a young age. I’m not like you; I was terrible at studying since I was young, no comparison to you."

"No wonder our sister wouldn’t consider me, it turns out she found such a perfect and excellent man like you."

Michale marveled, "Brother-in-law, your future is limitless."

"I knew the first time I saw you, you weren’t ordinary, my intuition was indeed right."

William Hale raised an eyebrow and watched him coldly.

His gaze said:

I’m just quietly watching you suck up!

Zoe Bell really wanted to laugh but didn’t dare to be too unrestrained.

Finn Hale lowered his head, his lips slightly curving.

Michale Shaw...

Was really a good kid.

"Brother-in-law, you being a professor at the university, what about the Shea family’s company in the future?" Michale asked out of pure curiosity, "Hiring a professional manager?"

Isaac Shea nodded, "If Hannah is willing to take over, I think my parents would be very pleased."

Michale’s eyes lit up.

Hannah Johnson had already established a small company, and now she managed the Hugh Family, plus the Shea Family.

He secretly decided:

From now on, Hannah Johnson would be his own sister!

Isaac Shea would be his own brother-in-law!

William Hale felt a headache coming on again.

He feared those with ulterior motives, eyeing the Hugh Family to devour them, yet here was Isaac, seemingly all too willing to hand over his family business.

For a moment, he didn’t know whether to be happy or to worry for his cousin.

Tim Payne glanced at his watch, noticing the time was already late, he initiated, "It’s getting late, everyone has been busy all day, we should rest early, and discuss any matters tomorrow."

"It’s indeed very late," Zoe Bell nudged William Hale’s arm.

Signaling him not to trouble Isaac any further.

However, William looked at Isaac, his gaze implying:

You can leave now.

His cousin, he would take care of.

Isaac Shea, not wanting to leave but unable to compete with William, only said, "May I go to the bedroom to see her?"

Before William could respond, amidst the opening door sound, Hannah Johnson walked out from the room. Her lips were pale, and her walk slightly unsteady, the lights outside were bright, she squinted to survey the roomful of people, her gaze landing on Isaac Shea...

Their eyes met.

The puppy’s eyes were wet, showing a pitiful and aggrieved expression.

Hannah Johnson’s heart tightened—

because she was a sucker for this.

Isaac Shea sat by himself, while everyone else sat opposite him.

It was clear to anyone—

this was an interrogation!

She looked at her cousin, "William, what are you doing?"

William Hale stood up and walked towards her, concerned about her health not being fully recovered, helped her sit down, and poured her a cup of warm water. "Uncle Hale mentioned that there were some issues he wanted to ask Young Master Shea about."

Finn Hale: "..."

William Hale, are you planning to sever ties with me after tonight?

He was really daring to push me into the fire.

"What did you ask?" Hannah looked at Finn.

"Because you had an accident," Finn replied, as he had no choice since it was his own nephew. "Young Master Shea saved you, so naturally, we want to ask him what exactly happened."

"Is that all?" Hannah didn’t believe it and turned her head to look at Isaac Shea.

Isaac Shea immediately nodded understandingly, "They’re all very concerned about you."

"I was careless tonight, I worried you all."

Hannah was overwhelmed by Isaac Shea’s identity, indeed neglecting some details, which allowed the criminals to take advantage.

"It’s also my fault. The security wasn’t sufficient," Tim Payne apologized. "You suffered undeserved hardship."

"There’s no need to blame yourself, Junior President Payne. You’ve been very busy and the banquet was extremely complicated. Even with meticulous care, you can’t prevent bad people from doing evil."

"I asked the doctor earlier, and your body still needs a few days to recover. Soaking in hot springs will help remove the residual drugs from your system. You can stay here for a few more days to relax."

"Do you feel unwell anywhere right now? Do you need me to call the doctor?"

Hannah shook her head, "I’m fine now."

"Zoe, you scared me to death," Michale Shaw frowned. "Lucky your brother-in-law was there to save you."

Hannah was stunned, "Who are you calling?"

"My brother-in-law..." Michale Shaw’s eyes fell on Isaac Shea, smiling ingratiatingly, "Brother-in-law is young and talented, truly a fine figure."

"Brother-in-law has even graduated with a PhD, really low-key and handsome too. Zoe, you have good taste."

"I think you two are a perfect match!"

William Hale gritted his teeth, "Michale Shaw, it’s late; you must be tired."

Zoe Bell chuckled quietly:

Michale Shaw’s eloquence could make him a good wedding officiant.

"Seeing Zoe, I’m all energized."

"..."

Listening to him speak gave Hannah a headache.

Not choosing him back then was really wise.

Even after just a few hours of trouble and sleep, how did this brother-in-law even come about?

Was Michale Shaw itching for a beating?

But he also knew it was time for him to exit by then, or if he got caught by Hale for lingering too long, it wouldn’t end well.

"Zoe, it really is late, and I shouldn’t keep you and your brother-in-law any longer. There are still some matters at the company; I need to head back to the city right away," he said.

Before leaving, he took out his phone, opened the QR code, and handed it to Isaac Shea: "Brother-in-law, let’s add each other as friends."

William Hale’s face turned completely dark.

He could guess Michale Shaw’s thoughts:

This guy would really do anything for money.

After adding as friends, someone slipped away quickly.

Zoe Bell looked at Hannah Johnson: "Zoe, should I stay with you tonight?"

"No need; you all go," Hannah said, then glanced at Isaac Shea, "You stay."

Clearly, she had something she wanted to discuss with him alone.

It was not appropriate for others to interfere between the two of them. Before William Hale left, he looked at Hannah, "Sister, I am staying next door with Zoe. Call me anytime if you need anything."

Hannah nodded.

Once the room was left to just her and Isaac Shea, she finally relaxed, possibly due to the drug’s effect; her body felt weak and sluggish, having only been forcibly enduring till then.

Before she could speak, Isaac Shea walked up to her, bent down, and picked her up. Hannah frowned, "What are you doing, put me down."

However, her body was too weak to struggle.

"Your body hasn’t recovered."

"Put me down, I want to talk serious."

"I know, let’s talk in bed."

"..."

Who in their right minds discusses serious matters in bed?
