Mrs Hale, I Surrender
Chapter 215 Mr. Hale realized, guarding his sister all night long

Chapter 215: 215 Mr. Hale realized, guarding his sister all night long

William Hale massaged his temples. He had tried to convince Zoe Bell to search for her relatives, but she seemed not to believe Director Hall’s words, and the matter was shelved...

The Payne Family.

Could it be such a coincidence?

Zac Cruz was unaware that Junior President Payne had had a sister and added, "I heard that after he left the detention center, Director Hall was emotionally devastated, shouting to see his wife and even engaging in some self-harming behaviors."

"Why on earth would Junior President Payne seek her out all of a sudden?"

"Capital City is thousands of miles away from Greenland; a trip there is not easy."

"I had planned to have a lawyer investigate, but every time Director Hall asks her a question, she always has conditions, and I doubt anything substantive will be revealed."

...

Zac Cruz murmured, catching a glimpse of his boss leaning back in his chair, apparently asleep. These past few days had indeed been tough, so he immediately closed his mouth.

However, William hadn’t fallen asleep; his mind was flooded with various thoughts.

The investigation results from his uncle indicated that the Payne Family’s daughter was likely deceased;

but Zoe had been abducted.

With the status of the Payne Family, how could their daughter easily have an accident, go missing, or be abducted? There must be some hidden story here, perhaps fraught with peril.

The more William thought about it, the more he felt a headache coming on.

Upon returning to the old mansion, he took a quick shower and handled some urgent company matters, and by the time he finished, it was after one in the morning.

He went to the Incense Making Room, picked up a few of Zoe Bell’s books on incense making, passed through the front hall, and unexpectedly encountered Finn Hale.

"Going to the hospital so late at night?" Finn Hale was making coffee.

He hadn’t been staying at the old mansion recently and had only come back to stay for a couple of days because of the incident with Zoe.

"You haven’t gone to bed yet?"

"Drafting drawings."

Finn eyed him, "Someone’s watching over her at the hospital. You should get some good rest tonight and head over in the morning."

"I’m worried. I can’t sleep at home."

Finn chuckled lowly, "What’s there to worry about? It’s not like someone could steal your wife, right?"

He had just been joking, but he hadn’t expected his nephew to look so serious, "It’s possible, and I’m very worried."

...

Finn watched his retreating back and took a sip of coffee.

What’s been going on lately?

Everyone seems a bit odd.

Tim Payne was the same way.

Cheerfully smiling at him for no good reason; it made him feel a chill down his spine.

When William arrived at the hospital, it was nearly two in the morning. It was quiet, with only the occasional nighttime nurse moving through the hallways. As he turned a corner to enter the corridor of Zoe Bell’s ward, he saw a figure, sitting desolately outside.

The light poured down from above his head, his face in the shadows, making it hard to discern his expression.

This was...

Tim Payne!

His head was slightly bowed, and it was uncertain whether he was asleep.

In the empty corridor, his figure appeared especially lonely and desolate.

William retreated back to the corner, leaning against the wall, his expression unchanged, yet his heart felt like a rushing tide.

According to the journey, this Junior President Payne had just come back from Greenland and rushed straight to the hospital, almost confirming his suspicions of the past few hours.

If it wasn’t for holding some solid evidence in his hands, he wouldn’t have come to the hospital in the middle of the night.

Because he was afraid,

fearful that the sister he had just found might once again disappear from his life.

Only by staying personally could he feel at ease.

William didn’t approach him but instead turned back to his car, still holding the books.

At the moment, he didn’t know how to face this Junior President Payne.

After all,

there was a great chance that he would become his own uncle by marriage.

He needed to call out "Brother."

He had always been the one called brother, but William Hale wasn’t quite ready when he suddenly acquired a brother.

At this moment, his mind was somewhat jumbled. The Payne Family definitely wanted to acknowledge Zoe urgently, but he was really unclear about their situation, thinking his uncle hadn’t slept yet, he made a phone call to him.

Finn Hale had just finished part of a design drawing and was preparing to rest when his phone vibrated. He frowned deeply, "William Hale, this better be important."

"I want to talk to you about something."

"Talk about what?"

"About... Junior President Payne."

Finn Hale frowned and directly hung up the phone.

In the middle of the night, bothering him about unpleasant things!

Was he perhaps under a lot of stress recently, and his mind wasn’t working properly? Who would want to talk to him about Tim Payne?

William Hale initially wanted to share his suspicions with his uncle, but alas, the person in question simply didn’t give him the chance.

Uncle,

If you ever go from being arch-enemies with Junior President Payne to becoming relatives and can’t accept it, don’t blame me.

It’s not that I didn’t want to inform you beforehand, but really, you didn’t give me the chance.

How could William Hale sleep? He had only dozed off for a little over an hour when he saw Junior President Payne entering the parking lot, leaving the hospital, although covered in dust from travel, his eyes were bright and spirited, showing no signs of fatigue.

——

In the hospital room

Zoe Bell had no idea that Tim Payne had watched over her the entire night outside the hospital room. When she woke up, William Hale was already in the room, bringing porridge for her and Lily Lott.

During that time, the police came again, asking for some details about her abduction.

"By the way, recently, have the Conner Family members come to bother you?" asked the police.

Zoe Bell shook her head, "No."

"That’s good. You are a victim as well as a crucial witness. If needed, we can provide you with some security protection."

This remark made Zoe Bell suspicious.

Later, she learned from William Hale that Serena Conner’s mother couldn’t accept the reality of her perfectly healthy daughter suddenly becoming paralyzed, accusing her of jumping off the building, and relating it to Hannah Johnson, Junior President Payne, and the police.

She even took it to the extent of pursuing a legal case against Hannah Johnson and Junior President Payne for breaking into a private residence.

She caused a commotion at the police station.

She claimed that if it weren’t for them, Serena Conner would not have been driven to jump.

"Probably due to being overly agitated," William Hale remarked, "after all, the Conner Family only has this one daughter."

Zoe Bell nodded, "I can understand, but my sister and Junior President Payne won’t be held accountable, will they?"

"No, don’t worry."

In reality, both Hannah Johnson and Junior President Payne had been summoned to the police station.

Serena Conner had jumped while under police surveillance, and the police were fully aware of the specific circumstances, but since Mrs. Conner filed a complaint and was insistently causing trouble, they had to go through the necessary procedures.

Mrs. Conner accused them of breaking into a private residence and creating disturbances, leading the police to caution the two and fine them a few hundred dollars.

"Has Junior President Payne not been resting well recently?" Hannah Johnson observed him.

He looked very alert, yet the dark circles under his eyes were very pronounced.

"I have some matters to deal with."

"Zoe’s incense sticks for calming and aiding sleep are pretty effective. I still have a few boxes left, will have someone send them over to you one of these days."

"Thank you."

As the two were talking, they saw a figure charging over, followed closely by Assistant Law. The man was in his fifties, lean and efficient, dressed in black, with deeply furrowed brows, as if permanent creases had formed around his eyes and brow due to constant frowning.

He exuded a profound aura of fierceness.

His eyes were sharp, and his entire presence emitted a chilling fear-inducing coldness.

Because of his resemblance to Junior President Payne and the fact that Assistant Law was following closely behind him, Hannah Johnson guessed his identity.

She pursed her lips, suppressing her voice, "Junior President Payne, is that your father?"

"Yes."

"It’s just a simple civil dispute, no need to rush to the police station, right? His expression looks like he’s about to devour you. Do you want me to explain to him?"

"No need."
