Chapter 209: 209 Mr. Hale’s Ruthlessness, Pushed to Suicide by Jumping Off a Building? (5 More Updates)
Familiar voice.
The familiar woody scent on him instantly enveloped her, and Zoe Bell was in a daze as she relaxed, her cutter falling to the ground, "Hale... William Hale?"
"Mhm, don’t be afraid, I’m here."
William Hale patted her back gently, his gaze falling on the seemingly cultured kidnapper.
His brows were filled with menace.
The innate chill in his bones made one shiver without feeling cold just by looking at him.
"Who the hell are you? She’s my wife!" His vision blurry, the man didn’t recognize William Hale at first and even tried to forcefully pull Zoe Bell away.
But before his fingers could touch her, William Hale suddenly lifted his foot.
And kicked the man fiercely.
There was a scream, and the man’s body flew like an arrow off its bowstring, harshly slamming into the ground.
The accomplices were stunned.
The intense pain in his chest forced the man to curl up on the ground, howling in agony. Struggling to get up, he was met with another kick from another person who had come down from the car.
His head spun, his face turning deathly pale.
Before he could catch his breath, the arm he had just been cut on was harshly stepped on by Kyle Lowe.
The pain was sharp, drilling into his bones.
Being inherently cold, William Hale’s presence was now even more chilling. With a stern gaze, he stared at the howling man, "What did you say just now? I don’t think I understood."
"You said... she’s your wife?"
The corner of his mouth twisted into a cold smirk, "My wife, when did she become your wife?"
The man was instantly terrified.
This...
Wife?
Is this William Hale?
"You’re blind as a dog, she’s our madam. Your wife? You really know how to talk yourself up!" Zac Cruz also ran down from the car, starting a fierce onslaught of kicks at him.
"You lowlife scum, who do you think you are, kidnapping? It looks like you’re tired of living!"
The other kidnapper tried to run upon seeing this.
Since his shin had just been hit by a golf club, he couldn’t run fast. Kyle Lowe quickly caught up, grabbed him, and the kidnapper’s struggles were met with a tempest of brutal strikes.
He begged for mercy in his pain.
"Please, we were just doing it for the money!"
But Kyle Lowe turned a deaf ear.
Punch after punch,
His attacks became more vicious.
Until the man’s mouth was bleeding profusely, William Hale simply said in a calm voice, "Leave him alive."
"I know what I’m doing."
Zoe Bell, still shaken, held onto William Hale tightly, unwilling to let go. After a while, she was taken by him into the car, her right ankle already bruising and swollen.
"I’m late," William Hale’s words made Zoe Bell’s eyes moisten.
Tears fell in streams.
All her former fear and tension melted away, and as she cried with convulsive sobs, William Hale slowly pulled her into his embrace. Her tears dampened the front of his shirt, making his heart ache and suffocate.
"Don’t cry, it’s all right now."
As she cried,
He felt like his heart was starting to ache.
God knows how anxious he had been on the way here, his mind almost a blank slate, feeling utterly hollow inside, until he had held her in his arms and felt like his soul had finally returned to its rightful place.
"The police will be here soon. Zac Cruz and Kyle Lowe will handle things here; I’m taking you to the hospital first."
Zoe Bell nodded, "In the factory area, there’s another kidnapper."
William Hale nodded.
When Zac Cruz and Kyle Lowe arrived at the factory, they easily found the office with the help of the lights. The kidnapper had just awakened, his hands and feet bound, his mouth gagged, wriggling on the ground like a worm.
Seeing them, he thought he saw saviors, his eyes lighting up.
Little did he know, these two were here for his life.
On the way to the hospital, Zoe Bell gradually calmed down, turned her head to look at William Hale, "How did you find this place?"
"Serena Conner told me."
"She..."
Zoe Bell felt a headache coming on; she should have thought of it.
It should have been her.
But did they have such deep hatred between them? Was her hatred enough to want to destroy her?
**
At that moment, at the Conner Family home, they received news that Zoe Bell had been successfully rescued even before the police arrived.
"...Is Zoe really okay?" Hannah Johnson’s heart had been hanging by a thread.
"Sis, I’m okay, you don’t have to worry," Zoe Bell had already taken over William Hale’s phone, "Sorry for making you worry."
"It’s okay as long as you’re fine."
Hannah Johnson finally breathed a sigh of relief, and seeing this, Junior President Payne also looked slightly relieved.
Assistant Law thought to himself:
He really didn’t understand his boss’s feelings for Miss Bell.
He was so anxious over her trouble!
Even when he had no proof, he would charge straight to the Conner Family’s residence. In the past, he would never have done such a thing.
When Serena Conner saw the smile creep over Hannah Johnson’s lips, she knew those men had failed.
She harbored some hope against hope.
She was wishing,
that Zoe Bell had already been violated by other men.
Clearly maintained by a man yet acting so high and mighty, she couldn’t wait to see what Zoe would look like after being touched by those filthy, ugly men.
Record a video, send it to William Hale’s hands, would he still want her?
Even if he didn’t mind, would the Hale Family care?
Who would want damaged goods!
But...
Things did not go as she wished.
That group of bastards—she had already spent a million, and yet they had accomplished nothing!
If the task wasn’t done, she would be finished.
"Dad..." Her voice trembled as she sought her father’s help.
Owen Conner was already numb, his daughter was utterly beyond saving, it was time for a split, "Don’t call me, I am not your dad. I raised you to adulthood, never treated you poorly. As parents, we have fulfilled our obligations."
"We set you on a good path, but you always thought we were trying to harm you."
"Since you insist on going your own way, then there’s nothing we can do. Whatever happens to you is your own doing."
Serena Conner’s face was utterly devoid of color.
She knew,
her parents had completely given up on her.
And with the sound of police sirens outside, she was scared like a startled bird; if caught, she would definitely end up sitting through a prison sentence, William Hale would not let her off.
Would she die in prison because of it?
Serena Conner, in desperation, actually ran upstairs. The entering police officers saw this and hurriedly followed.
The police had arrived, so naturally, there was nothing for Hannah Johnson to worry about. She left the Conner Family’s residence with Junior President Payne.
"Zoe has gone to the hospital; I plan to go see her. Do you want to come along?" After this incident, Hannah thought this Junior President Payne was a decent person.
"That sounds good."
The two hadn’t even gotten into the car when voices came from the rooftop of the Conner Family’s four-story villa.
"Don’t come any closer, if you do, I will jump..."
"Miss Conner, calm down!" The police officer advised.
"Serena—" The voices of Mr. and Mrs. Conner came through.
"Don’t force me!"
Hannah looked up and saw the moonless night sky; the Conner residence’s rooftop was very dark, with only a few silhouettes barely visible.
As she got into the car, she heard several frightened screams followed by a dull thud.
Something had fallen from the building!
The dull impact was eerie and disturbing in the night.
Hannah’s breath tightened as the police car was parked at the entrance of the Conner residence and many onlookers were around. At that moment, cries of shock were heard, and all the police officers gathered around.
"Drive," Junior President Payne signaled to Assistant Law.
Hannah had not expected her to actually jump; if only she had known this day would come.
The Conner parents were decent people. Compared to her despicable father, Owen Conner was quite responsible. They provided a favorable family background. Spoiled since childhood, even without significant achievements, she could live a life free from want and lead a luxurious life envied by most.
Yet, she insisted on choosing a dead-end path.
Hannah sighed.
"Do you pity her?" Junior President Payne spoke frankly.
"It’s just that she doesn’t know the blessings of being born into fortune. I feel sorry for her parents," Hannah glanced at the man beside her. "Junior President Payne, you seem to take special care of our Zoe."
"I just feel a connection with her. She reminds me of someone I once knew," he said.
"Someone you once knew?" Hannah raised her eyebrows.
Instinctively, she thought maybe an ex-girlfriend or someone like that, but then he added, "Someone who has passed on."
Hannah immediately fell silent.
For a moment, she did not know how to comfort him.
----
Meanwhile, Zoe Bell, who had already arrived at the hospital, had heard about Serena Conner’s suicide attempt and was also sighing with emotion.
Her leg injury was severe. When Peter Lewis rushed to the hospital and saw her condition, he simply said in a deep voice, "We can’t wait until next month. Surgery must happen as soon as possible."
"As soon as possible?" William Hale frowned, "How soon?"
"Admission, initial examinations, and if all body indicators are okay, surgery tomorrow morning."
Zoe Bell had thought it would be a simple procedure and she would go home, but Old Sir Lewis had already forcibly arranged for her admission.
When Hannah heard the news, she prepared to help her collect some clothes and necessary documents for the hospital stay. Junior President Payne accompanied her on the trip.
Zoe’s belongings were at Yarden. Hannah took a suitcase and, following Zoe’s instructions, packed for her.
Opening the drawer, she searched for the documents.
All of Zoe Bell’s documents, including her medical card, were stored in one place, easy to find. Hannah confirmed that all the documents were there and her gaze fell upon a Red String...
The Red String was quite small, like something a child would wear.
Why would she have children’s stuff kept together with important belongings?
"Miss Johnson, do you need any help with anything?" Junior President Payne’s voice sounded from outside the room.
