Chapter 207: 207 Acting and Setting Traps, Junior President Payne’s Tactics (3 more updates)

"Serena Conner, I urge you to speak up quickly. Once a major mistake is made, there’s no turning back," Hannah Johnson urged impatiently, yet she could only wait.

"I don’t understand what you’re talking about. I need to go to the airport; I must catch my flight," she said, attempting to leave.

But Junior President Payne was prepared, and his men were already at the door.

She,

couldn’t leave!

Owen Conner saw this and felt a wave of dizziness.

He knew in his heart that he could no longer protect his daughter.

In just a few seconds, if she’d gotten into the car and left, and once she’d passed security and left the country, she could have been safe just this once.

"Miss Conner, I’ve never laid a hand on a woman in my life, but that doesn’t mean I won’t," Junior President Payne warned, glancing at her.

The men with him were ready to step forward.

Scared, Serena Conner ran back to seek help from her parents, but she didn’t expect to meet a fierce slap from her father right away, knocking her to the ground with great force.

"Dad?" she asked, shocked and confused.

"Aren’t you going to confess now, or do you want to wait for the police to come?"

Owen Conner knew his daughter must know something. If she confessed at home, he could use his connections to possibly cover things up. But if it escalated to police involvement, even gods couldn’t save them.

"Dad, I really don’t know!"

"You’re still being stubborn."

"I’m your daughter. Don’t you believe me?"

"It’s because you are my daughter that I know you. Ever since William Hale, you have changed into someone I no longer recognize." He said, walking over and brutally kicking her, making her beg for mercy.

Mrs. Conner saw her daughter in pain and tried to intervene, but a look from her husband stopped her.

"Even now, you won’t speak?"

"I truly don’t know!" Serena Conner cried, tears streaming down her face.

But she still bit her teeth together and refused to speak!

"You despicable thing, I really wish I could kill you myself to avoid public embarrassment," Owen Conner harshly said, "Our family is disgraced by having someone like you in it!"

Yet he didn’t expect that the next second...

Junior President Payne suddenly extended his hand, passing a blunted knife, "The knife might be dull, but it’s enough for you to straighten your household."

Owen Conner was stunned.

Wasn’t this the time to stop the fight?

Why was he being handed a knife?

"Mr. Conner, why aren’t you taking action?" Junior President Payne teased, "Or, was what you just said about wanting to kill her just a joke? Just a show for us?"

"Absolutely not!"

"Then go ahead."

Serena Conner was dumbfounded, looking at the man in front of her and Hannah Johnson, "I’ve said it already, Zoe Bell’s disappearance has nothing to do with me. If you have evidence, ask the police to arrest me. Otherwise, please leave; this is the Conner home! Not the Hugh home, nor the Payne home."

"Shut up!" Owen Conner, overwhelmed, exclaimed.

At that moment, Assistant Law suddenly stepped forward and whispered into Junior President Payne’s ear.

He said something that everyone present could hear quietly.

"Junior President Payne, Miss Bell has been found, and the people who kidnapped her have been captured by Mr. Hale. They are currently en route to the police station. We should leave," he said.

A smile immediately appeared on Hannah Johnson’s face, "Really?"

Assistant Law nodded.

Junior President Payne looked at the pale-faced Serena Conner and then at Owen Conner, "Mr. Conner, keep an eye on your daughter. If you send her out of the country now, you and the entire Conner family might not be able to bear the consequences of concealing and abetting a criminal."

"Let’s go," Junior President Payne signaled to Hannah Johnson with a meaningful glance.

Hannah Johnson took a deep breath.

Then, regaining her composure, she smiled, "Let’s hurry. If there’s anything, it will be clear once the police investigate at the station. There’s no need to waste time here."

Before leaving, Hannah Johnson took one last look at Owen Conner, "Uncle Conner, you should persuade her."

"If she turns herself in before the police conclude their investigation, she might be eligible for leniency."

And then, they really all left the Conner home.

Serena Conner had been defiant initially,

but now her face was pale as death.

They had found her so quickly?

It was over, all over!

Her mind was a chaotic mess, consumed by overwhelming fear and trembling uncontrollably, as if a chill had suddenly enveloped her body, making it difficult for her to speak.

Hearing the sound of cars leaving outside, she stiffly turned her neck to look at her father:

"Dad... save me!"

"You scoundrel, did you really do this?"

"I just wanted to teach her a lesson, let her taste what it’s like to have her reputation ruined. I didn’t mean to endanger her life. That shouldn’t get me many years, right? It was just a joke."

"Didn’t you hear what Junior President Payne’s assistant said? The one caught was a kidnapper. Do you call that a joke?"

Owen Conner felt a wave of dizziness and grabbed her, "You’re coming with me to the police station to turn yourself in now."

"No, I’m going abroad. I’m heading to the airport right now..."

Serena Conner grabbed her fallen bag and dashed outside.

The night wind was baffling. Just as she burst out the front door and was about to get into the car, she heard a familiar voice behind her, "Serena, where are you going?"

She turned around,

Hannah Johnson hadn’t left, and Junior President Payne also stood by her, watching with cold eyes.

Serena Conner’s legs went weak, and she collapsed to the ground.

It was fake.

They had tricked her!

Serena was too panicked. Now, seeing Hannah Johnson approach slowly, she was even more terrified, scrambling to run without a clear direction, but all her escape routes were blocked.

The only way out,

was to confront Hannah Johnson directly.

And that way,

was a dead end!

"You foolish thing, what time is it now that you still want to hide things? Speak up quickly!" Mrs. Conner ran out, striking her daughter with fists and feet, furious and pale with anger.

"Forget it, we paved the way for her, she chooses not to take it, preferring to seek her death, there’s nothing we as parents can do."

Owen Conner sighed:

"Hannah, she’s all yours now, do whatever you and Junior President Payne want with her."

Serena Conner was stupefied.

She gritted her teeth and finally confessed everything.

William Hale received the message and immediately drove to the location she described.

It was an old factory the Conner Family had used before. Due to the poor economic environment in recent years, the factory was abandoned and had been sitting empty as no suitable buyer had been found.

Using her own family’s property for wrongdoing, Serena was really out of her mind!

Meanwhile, inside the factory office,

a man playing a video game suddenly heard a noise and turned around only to see the woman who should have been unconscious was actually awake.

She seemed shocked by her current situation. Her lychee-like eyes were moist with tears, naturally beautiful and now displaying a fearful look, pitifully fragile.

So vulnerable it was hard to look away.

"You’re awake?" the man stared at her, involuntarily swallowing.

"Who are you? What do you want..."

"What do you think?"

Zoe Bell lowered her head, tears dropping down rapidly; the man also felt helpless, "Don’t cry!"

"Big brother, do you want money? I have money."

"How much money do you have?" Who wouldn’t want to talk to a beautiful person, and considering Zoe Bell’s predicament, she couldn’t escape anyway; the man was indeed using her to pass the time.

"A few hundred thousand."

The man laughed out loud, "You call that money?"

Wasn’t the man she was with supposed to be filthy rich?

How come she only had so little saved up.

Seeing the man’s reaction, Zoe also became desperate, "I’ll give you all my money, just please let me go. I’m an orphan, no one would care about my life."

"Don’t worry, we won’t take your life, it’s just making some small videos."

"..."

Zoe Bell wasn’t stupid, she clearly understood what kind of videos.

She pretended to be scared, "I don’t want to make videos, big brother, please let me go."

"You don’t have money. How can I let you go?"

"I don’t have money, but I have people."

Upon hearing this, the man’s eyes gleamed.

"As long as you agree to let me go and not make videos, I’m willing to do whatever you ask."
