Chapter 160: 160 Abuse the Scum (2) Stoke the fire, beat him until his skin splits and flesh breaks
"Mom," Liam Hugh was stunned by his mother’s slap, and when he finally came to, his face felt scorching hot as if on fire, "What are you actually thinking? Do you really want to watch our Hugh family’s own blood being called bastards?"
"Molly is carrying your grandson in her belly!"
His face was slightly swollen from the slap.
One corner of his mouth was split, filling his mouth with the taste of blood.
Molly Hanson stood to the side, too frightened by the sudden turn of events to speak.
The old lady had an intimidating presence.
Her gaze was sharp, and her hand, heavy!
"I have a granddaughter..." The old lady’s voice was extremely cold, "not a grandson."
"Hannah Johnson is a girl, and she doesn’t carry my surname. Are you suggesting she should inherit the family business?"
Liam Hugh’s words instantly dimmed the light in Hannah’s eyes.
Was a boy really that important?
"You must have forgotten, I do not carry the Hugh surname either. Are you still trying to dominate me, take charge of my home, be my master?"
The old lady raised her voice suddenly, frightening Liam Hugh until his face turned pale.
"Mom, that’s not what I meant!"
"I heard you also wanted to hit Hannah?"
"I..." Liam Hugh was bewildered; it was she who drove him out of the house and then stormed to the apartment to slap him, "I didn’t, is this brat complaining to you behind my back? Complete nonsense, she hit me!"
"Hannah is someone I’ve watched grow up, and I know her temperament very well. If she laid a hand on you, it must have been you who drove her to it."
"But I’m also someone you’ve watched grow up, right?" Liam Hugh retorted.
"However, a child raised by me shouldn’t be so shameless. You have changed, turned into someone I don’t recognize."
Zoe Bell was speechless:
This is... such a double standard!
Hannah immediately nodded in agreement, "Grandma, you really have a keen insight, able to detect the slightest faults."
Zoe Bell was hanging her head, struggling to hold back laughter in such a serious moment.
But what was key:
Hannah added another sentence, "Actually, I’m well aware of his philandering outside. I haven’t exposed it just to maintain the Hugh family’s dignity, but it’s his plot against William that I couldn’t tolerate!"
"What plot against William?"
The tone of the old lady suggested she was clueless about the previous events.
Liam Hugh’s pupils shook, "Hannah Johnson, shut your mouth..."
"Hannah!" Brock Hale intervened timely to stop her, "It’s all in the past, let’s not bring it up again."
"Uncle."
"Be obedient!"
Hannah clenched her teeth.
The old lady frowned, turning to her son, "Liam Hugh, what exactly did you do to William?"
"Mom, I didn’t do anything to him, just a little misunderstanding," Liam Hugh said with a pained smile on his swollen face, trying to ingratiate himself.
"Yeah, it really was nothing," Brock laughed.
"It’s just that he always wanted to set William up with someone. Now that William already has someone, he got anxious and upset, wanted to slip him some sort of drug... to turn cooked rice into a done deal."
"But don’t worry, Mom, he wasn’t successful."
"It’s just that Hannah cares too much about William, which led to quite an unpleasant scene."
The old lady’s expression grew increasingly severe.
Liam Hugh: (O_o)??
You stop Hannah from talking, yet you ramble on and spill everything yourself.
"In any case, William didn’t suffer any harm, and I didn’t want to let Hannah speak, so as to prevent you from getting upset again," Brock said, which strangely had a hint of tattle-tale to it.
Zoe found it surprising.
Before this, Brock had always appeared mighty and towering in her mind. Now, he seemed somewhat similar to Wyatt Hale...
At this moment, she was absolutely certain:
Wyatt Hale was definitely his own flesh and blood!
This ability to stir up trouble was certainly not inferior.
"Is everything Brock said true?" the old lady took a deep breath and turned, grasping the cane that lay beside her.
As she spoke, she glanced at William Hale, who had remained silent, "William, you tell me!"
William Hale said helplessly, "Grandma, it’s all in the past."
This statement sealed his fate!
Liam Hugh immediately panicked, wanting to defend himself.
"Mom, listen to my explanation. William is my sister’s only child; I would never harm him. You said he could find any kind of partner, so why would he pick an orphan..."
Before he could finish, he was met with a harsh blow from a walking stick!
Striking his back.
Liam was caught off guard; he staggered, his legs gave way, and he ended up kneeling on the ground.
Molly Hanson gasped in fright, standing to the side, daring not to even breathe heavily.
"Drugging him? How could you come up with such a thing! He’s your own nephew!"
The old lady, remembering her deceased daughter, was even more furious.
She raised her hand and delivered another fierce strike.
The solid wood walking stick packed a powerful force!
Liam’s forehead began to sweat, and the color drained rapidly from his face.
It felt as if his bones were about to shatter, skin split, flesh burst, and after a moment, pain so intense it was as if his heart and lungs were tearing apart made him break into a cold sweat.
After a few strikes, he seemed to no longer feel the pain, having become completely numb.
The old lady was getting on in years; the force of her strikes made her wrists ache.
But in the entire household, no one felt sorry for him.
And naturally, no one interceded on his behalf.
Hannah Johnson wished she could:
Beat him to death!
"Despicable thing! I always wondered why William would sever ties with you for no apparent reason..." The old lady thought it was because he was detested for keeping a mistress, not realizing there was more to the story.
The family members had been considerate of the old lady’s health and had not divulged the truth to her right away.
"Mom, please calm down." Yumi Johnson stepped forward proactively, taking the walking stick from her hands and helping her sit down.
It wasn’t that she felt sorry for some cheating scumbag.
It was her grandmother that she felt sorry for.
"You... still thinking of having a son to inherit the family business?" The old lady snorted, "Liam Hugh, what do you now possess that wasn’t given to you by your father and me?"
"What contributions have you made to the company over the years?"
"Family business? Did you earn these properties yourself?"
"You look down on Hannah, yet she did not rely on the family and struck out on her own, while you’re still living off the family’s fortune."
"What right do you have to judge her!"
The old lady took a deep breath, seemingly having made a decision:
"If you think she’s so great and it’s true love, then I will oblige you."
"I’m going to take away all your positions and rights in the company, freeze all the assets in your name, and since you’re so capable, go support your mistress and the child in her belly yourself."
"Not a single cent from the Hugh family will be used on those with ill intentions!"
"Some grandson—I don’t care for it."
"A person with corrupt morals will only raise a wolf cub; I already have granddaughters and grandsons, and that’s enough."
The implication was:
She was going to disown Liam Hugh.
At those words, the entire living room fell dead silent.
Zoe Bell, meeting the old lady of the Hugh family for the first time, did not expect her to be so decisively resolute in her actions.
Just like her cousin.
"Mom, what do you mean by that?"
Liam, not minding the pain in his back, crawled up from the floor.
"The family wealth as it stands today was earned by your father and me, and you should remember his will after he passed away. Aside from leaving funds separately for William and Hannah, the rest was given to me."
"Now that everyone is here today, and I am getting on in years, it’s time to properly distribute the wealth."
After speaking, the old lady leaned back into her chair.
Molly’s eyes lit up instantly.
Was it time to divide the inheritance?
