Chapter 155: 155 Bringing in a concubine for the husband? Helping the mistress gain status is a dream

Inside Yarden

Nanny Parker’s holiday had ended, and she arrived on schedule to buy groceries to prepare lunch. She discovered that Young Master Wyatt was also there, while Mrs. Hale was busy making Incense Cards, and he was vividly gossiping by her side.

"...Netizens are really too incredible, they dug up that vixen’s past in just an hour."

"She used to work in a famous massage parlor for foot therapy back in Capital City."

"She was married back in her hometown and had two children. It’s said that after divorcing her ex-husband, she didn’t even want the kids—now she’s just living off Elderly Hugh."

Wyatt Hale had no classes today and, eager for the drama, hadn’t even slept in.

After returning home, he sought out his father for more gossip.

Brock had heard a bit about Liam Hugh’s antics, but he hadn’t expected them to be this outrageous.

"Elderly Hugh?" Zoe Bell stopped what she was doing.

"It’s a nickname I came up with for him."

Zoe chuckled softly, "With the situation last night, weren’t you afraid of getting hit?"

"With my second cousin around, who dares to hit me?" Wyatt Hale scoffed. "Besides, we can’t let sister fight alone, can we? If it’s time to get involved, I’m in. I’ve been holding back for a long time. If you ask me, there’s no need for idle talk with those two..."

"Just go in, start with a beating."

"They wouldn’t dare call the police anyway, so a beating will be for nothing."

Zoe’s lips curved slightly as she continued with the Incense Clay.

Once the incense was awakened, she placed the clay into a decorative mold to press out the required shape, dried it, trimmed it, cured it, then added accessories, and the Incense Cards would be complete.

Wyatt Hale watched from the side for a long time; it was all meticulous work. Resting his cheek on his hand, he said, "Sister-in-law, you are truly beautiful and skilled."

"Flatterer."

"I’m serious. Do you think skills like this are hereditary? My dad is all thumbs, so I’m clumsy too. There must be someone in your family who is..."

Wyatt Hale was straightforward, but he swallowed back his words before they left his mouth.

"By the way, National Day is coming up in a few days. Do you have any plans, sister-in-law?"

Zoe shook her head.

"Have big brother take you out for some fun. It would be even better if you could take me with you. I can help you plan the trip and act as a guide."

Nanny Parker came in with fruits, "Young Master Wyatt, please, the last time you went abroad, didn’t you end up lost?"

Wyatt Hale snorted coldly, munching on the fruit, and started his self-imposed silent mode.

----

Liam Hugh’s scandal had blown up significantly.

He took Molly Hanson to the hospital, not only to treat a dislocated arm but also to confirm her pregnancy. He received affirmative news from the doctor.

He was immersed in the joy of becoming a father again...

But at the crack of dawn,

the news that he was keeping a mistress and had gotten her pregnant had spread far and wide!

Of course, it was Yumi Johnson’s doing. He called her to confront her, "What exactly are you trying to do? Must you embarrass me like this? And giving all the employees a holiday?"

Molly Hanson listened from the side.

Now with a child, she hoped her pregnancy would help her marry into a wealthy family.

Yumi Johnson’s smile was faint, "Such a joyous occasion surely calls for a universal celebration."

"As your wife, I should at least show some generosity."

"If it were ancient times, I’d be banging gongs and beating drums to help you take another wife."

"Yumi Johnson, don’t think I don’t know what you’re plotting. It’s nothing more than trying to sully my reputation, in hopes of getting more money when we divorce. I’ve told you, as long as you’re willing to divorce, name your conditions!"

Liam bit his teeth in frustration; he was determined to give his son a legitimate status.

"Want a divorce? Fine." Yumi laughed coldly, "But you, along with your mistress, have to publicly apologize to me."

"Dream on!"

Liam had not expected her to be so difficult.

The situation had already escalated, yet she still refused to back down.

He had thought divorce would be straightforward, entailing merely a complicated division of assets!

Yumi, calm and unhurried, said:

"Let me tell you something as well, thinking of making her your legitimate wife... dream on!"

Then she hung up the phone.

Liam’s face went dark, and Molly Hanson, lying in the hospital bed, was even more confused.

What did this mean?

"She doesn’t want a divorce?" Molly bit her lip.

"Don’t worry, I will definitely find a way. Your top priority now is to rest well for your pregnancy." Molly Hanson knew that they were going to get a divorce and wanted to climb the ladder by using her son.

She just didn’t expect that mother-daughter duo to be so tough and unyielding.

After hanging up the phone, Yumi Johnson glanced at her daughter who was nestled on the sofa, stroking the cat.

Hannah Johnson burst out laughing, "I bet those two are about to explode with anger."

"Divorce is only a matter of time, but the person who is anxious isn’t me."

As Yumi spoke, she looked at her daughter, "In the future, think things through before you act. Don’t be impulsive."

This morning, Hannah had wanted someone to go to the Hugh Group headquarters to hang a banner.

Congratulations to Liam Hugh for taking a concubine and happily becoming a father.

Online, there were quite a few "Taking a Concubine for the Husband," with banners being hung at the mistress’ workplace.

"If you really did that, they could turn around and sue you for defamation, and then we would be at a disadvantage," Yumi advised.

"I was just too angry, but your move was much cleverer," Hannah said with a laugh.

Because what Yumi did was to have the company’s HR department issue a notice,

All the other stuff was dug up by well-meant busybodies, nothing to do with her.

And what she said was all true.

Liam Hugh, even if furious, could only grit his teeth and swallow his pride.

Recently, there have been lots of rumors floating around, and the entire Hugh Family has been in the eye of the storm. Hannah hasn’t gone to work for a couple of days, staying at home to avoid the backlash, petting the cat, cooking with her mother, doing Pilates—she just couldn’t sit still anymore.

She usually plans her schedule very tightly, so suddenly having nothing to do left her somewhat at a loss.

After dinner, she went to visit her cousin.

"Are you home alone?" Hannah frowned, "Where’s William?"

"He has a social engagement tonight and will probably be back very late."

"Aren’t you bored?"

"How could I be? I still have lots of incense to prepare, stocking up for the store opening."

"You sure know how to keep yourself occupied." Hannah chatted with her for a while out of sheer boredom, then urged her, "Hurry up and wash your hands, come out with me for some fresh air, I’ll take you out for some fun."

"It’s already past nine."

"Mrs. Hale, have you no idea how rich and exciting the nightlife is here in Capital City since you’ve been here so long?"

"..."

Zoe Bell knew Hannah must be feeling down lately, so she didn’t refuse.

But she never expected to be brought to a bar.

Fearful of being recognized and causing a scene, both wore masks. The dazzling lights were blinding; this was a members-only establishment, not just anyone could enter, so it seemed more upscale and secure.

"Sis, let’s just go home," Zoe frowned.

"What are you afraid of, did William tell you that you’re not allowed in bars?"

"He didn’t."

"Just keep me company then. I’ve been really stressed out lately and need to relax properly." Hannah ordered drinks for both of them and after finding a corner to sit down, they finally took off their masks.

They were in a quiet spot, so no one really paid them any attention.

"Zoe," Hannah looked at her, "actually... my parents used to be quite loving. They even agreed to let me take my mother’s surname. It was my dad who taught me to walk, and even when I learned to ride a bike, he was there guiding me by hand."

"Why do you think he changed so much?"

There were some things Hannah couldn’t discuss in front of her mother, afraid it would upset her.

She reached out to Zoe Bell to vent some of her inner turmoil.

"It’s probably just human nature," Zoe said, lips tightly pursed.

"If I were a boy, maybe things would be different," Hannah mused.

Zoe remained silent, lips still pursed.

People change for so many reasons, or for no reason at all.

Truth be told, Hannah understood all of this. She was just looking for a comfortable justification for herself.

——

Meanwhile

When Wyatt Hale arrived home nearing eleven o’clock, he thought Zoe was asleep. Not wanting to wake her, he tiptoed into the bedroom only to find...

It was empty!

It was only after calling Kyle Lowe did he learn that his cousin had come over tonight.

Upon further inquiry...

The pair had run off to a bar.
