Chapter 61: Go Have Babies
Lu Ping hesitantly opened the door to her family mansion. She gulped when she felt the doorknob. But before she could turn it around and come in, someone else had pushed open the door. Both of them were equally as surprised as the other upon seeing their faces.
The one who had opened the door was the nanny of the house, "Oh my! Miss Ping, you are back home! I should tell this to your mother and father as soon as possible."
"No! I just wanted to come back to... to," she drawled and found the right words to fill the blank after a while, "To pay back what I owe them."
"I see!" Said the nanny, impressed. The old woman held to her face, stifling something that seemed to be her tears, "Madam and Master would be very happy to know that you had came back home to fix what had been broken."
Lu Ping’s expression changed from cowardice into irk. She narrowed her eyes and pushed the nanny aside. The old woman rattled in confusion but Lu Ping coldly demanded, "Don’t tell them I came back home. If they knew they’ll bring another golf to hit me with."
Nanny’s eyes turned teary upon seeing the anger on Lu ping’s face as she realized she had stepped on the wrong side by reminding Lu Ping of the problem that had caused Lu Ping to be thrown out of the house.
The nanny ran after her, following her after closing the house’s door, "Miss Ping, you have to understand that your father and mother didn’t want to kick you out of the house. Every day they are waiting for you to come back. They have realized their past mistakes of being too harsh on you."
"They were never harsh," Lu Ping showed a smile, "They were always busy with my sister and brothers, how could they have time for me?"
The nanny’s face turned weary, "Miss—"
"—Leave me alone, Nanny Su. Isn’t it enough that you remind me of their hatred toward me? Do you really have to continue patronize me around the house?" Lu Ping clicked her tongue and shoved the old woman aside, "I want to be left alone."
The nanny tried to persuade her but Lu Ping was unmoved. Eventually, Nanny Su obeyed the order and left Lu Ping alone. Finally having the chance to start her plan, Lu Ping wondered where she should search first to find the said document. After being turned down by Jiang NianNian, Lu Ping realized that she never had a real close friend who would help her. Even her family had casted her aside. There was still some hesitation in her heart, not for Jiang NianNian but for her family. Even though she despised how they had left her alone in times she needed, and was always comparing her to her perfect siblings, she felt a little swayed to stop her plan as if she steal the document, it would really bring her family into a verge of bankruptcy.
Her hesitation came to a final stop when she suddenly came to a stop in front of her father’s study room. However, it wasn’t his room that had made her stop, it was the large framed canvas on the wall. Lu Ping turned her face to the left where there was a large portrait of the family hung on the wall. There was her father sitting on the chair, her mother standing beside him along with the rest of her siblings. But the part where she was supposed to stand at had been repainted to melt with the brown background. It came to a slow realization to Lu Ping that her family never once waited to see her as Nanny Su claimed. After all, the old nanny was the one who had always begged her to come home, never once her parents.
Lu Ping’s smile faded from her lips what had took over was a hideous anger. She slowly turned the door knob to her father’s room, knowing it would never be closed and entered the study room to find the said document, determined to bring her family to ruin to save herself as they wouldn’t be the one to save her when she is in danger either way. If they weren’t going to save her, she wasn’t going to save them back either. They could all go to hell together!
The next morning, AiLin pushed open her bedroom door only to be surprised when she met the winking face that was facing back at her. She bent her knees down, taking the round piggy bank on her palms and questioned why it was there as if it had walked and stopped in front of her room on purpose.
She then shook it, having the urge to do so without a reason. When she heard that there was something in it, she was about to peek into its inside until she realized that in order to see what was inside, she would have to hit and crack it open, a very horrible action as she had just bought the piggy bank!
"You have woken up quite early today," Li ZiChen called out to her as he walked down the stairs. He stared back at her who hurriedly hide her piggy bank on her bank, not knowing the amount of money he had stuffed into the piggy bank’s stomach. "Are you nervous to see your birth family?"
AiLin stared back at him and shook her head, "I am rather a bit worried that they wouldn’t be happy to see me."
"There’s no way," Li ZiChen chuckled. He shone even in the mornings where everyone is lethargic.
He then reached out his hand and led her to the dining room. Once she was there while still hugging the piggy bank on her waist, she saw an old woman who was holding a ladle as she stirred the large metal pot on the stove. When they arrived to the dining room, the woman’s eyes immediately turned toward AiLin and her smile appeared.
AiLin returned the woman’s smile, recognizing that the old woman must be the nanny of the house who took care of Li ZiChen as he had told her beforehand.
Li ZiChen reached out his hand to the old nanny, "Her name is AiLin," he then turned toward her, "And this is Nanny Po. She has took care of me and Yingyi since we were very young."
"I see, I have heard quite a bit about you, Miss AiLin!" The old woman gently held to AiLin’s hands. Although AiLin felt her skin twitching to be touched by someone new, she felt that the old woman’s calloused hands were so gentle and it brought her comfort that her aversion to be touched wasn’t reacting as badly as before.
As if noticing this, the old woman didn’t touch her for long. She realized that like Li ZiChen, Nanny Po is an extremely sensitive person.
"I hope he hadn’t said anything weird about me," AiLin said with a smile, "If there is anything you need, you can also let me know, Nanny Po. I am basically a slacker in this house so you can use me to clean the stuffs that you feel are far too tiring."
"Oh my, how can I ever ask young master’s guests to do that," Nanny Po shook her head in refusal. "Believe me, miss, I was told to work extra hard to make sure you won’t be uncomfortable in this house."
Li ZiChen coughed to gain their attention, "I think the stove is burning, nanny."
Nanny Po gave Li ZiChen a look before grinning. She then walked away, "I suppose, I shouldn’t meddle too much. Young master hates when someone takes care of his business instead of him."
"Oh," AiLin sang as the old woman returned to cook and she turned toward Li ZiChen with a grin, "It’s surprising to think that you were once young. Seeing Nanny Po makes me realized that you also have a childhood like everyone else."
"Of course, it would be horrifying to think that I came out of my mother as large as this."
AiLin chuckled at his joke and she turned to the piggy bank, "Did you stuff my piggy anything?"
"Not that I recall," he responded before turning his face aside as Nanny Po came back with a bowl of porridge to each of them. "Thank you Nanny. If you keep behaving like this maybe I would agree to your idea of installing a TV in the kitchen to accompany you cook."
"Ah, ah, no need," Nanny Po brushed her hands, "Instead young master, I hope you can quickly go and have babies. That would make this old nanny happier."
The soup that AiLin had drank fell to the wrong pipe, causing her to cough furiously and the two people around her to quickly pat her back and offer her a glass of water.
