Mrs Fox Heinous Revenge: Can You Love A Villainess like Me? -
Chapter 218: From The Start
Chapter 218: From The Start
FangMin held it to her chest, reading every word by her eyes without registering them and she had made sure that every staffs could hear it. Not only would this ruin AiLin’s reputation, she was sure that her lover would be quick on his feet to erase all details about this when it became a gossip. All she has to do was a little more digging and she would find his name and eventually seduce him to be hers.
"Dear Miss AiLin, please don’t forget to drink your medicine after eating!
-Love, Nanny Zai."
FengMin who had read it aloud was stunned when she read the last word. She repeated it again and again under her breaths, muttering, "Nanny Zai.. Zai... nanny?"
"It’s my housekeeper," AiLin answered, smiling widely, "I don’t really take care of the house considering how busy I have became so I brought back my nanny who had worked with me for years now since I was young. I know you wish for this lunch box to be given to me from someone else but that’s just your, haha," she chuckled, "Your delusions?"
Gulping, FangMin clenched her fists together, she tried to smile but she couldn’t. Her eyes read again the letter and instead she flipped the question around, "What medicine?"
"Why? Do you want some of my medicine?"
"No, I just think that it’s unprofessional of you if you had came to the set bringing an illness that could affect someone else."
Oh? Look how quick the girl try to blame her.
"I am sick," she responded, "But it’s nothing as you think would be contagious. Not all illness are contagious too."
YanLan sighed and chirped, "She’s on her menstrual cycle, she tends to get immense ache on her stomach so the doctor prescribe her with a pain killer."
AiLin looked around, noticing how the people nearby had started eyeing FangMin with subtle disapproval. The way FangMin spoke. Her tone laced with artificial concern, her words carefully crafted to sound harmless, came off less like a friend checking in and more like someone who couldn’t stand to see another person simply exist without her input.
To everyone else, FangMin seemed nosy, almost desperate to plant herself into AiLin’s business. It wasn’t just concern; it was the thinly veiled resentment of someone who despised watching another person be happy, whether that happiness was justified or not.
"I have to act without minding the pain, it’s difficult but I’ll get over it soon," AiLin continued to sweeten her words, "I know you are worried about me but I am an adult, I can make my own choices and I know whether something could ruin my reputation or someone."
FangMin’s eyebrows flinched, she frowned, looking at Ailin and realizing that this girl wasn’t as easy as everyone else who would usually fall into her tricks, instead it was as if AiLin was very used to this kind of situation when someone would blame her or push her into playing the bad guy.
Without an utter word, AiLin snatched back the letter from Nanny Zai and pushed it to her lunch box. She then pulled out her sandwich and began to eat while every staffs began to gather, muttering what had happened. When they look at AiLin who they have admired for being kind and sweet was being bullied by FangMin who had desperately try to ruin her good names, they look at her unfavorably, thinking that FangMin is trying to harm AiLin like she had always done to the actresses she envied.
FangMin seemed to be ashamed of what had happened as she had angrily rose from the chair and marched away, her feet stomping across the ground angrily as she made her way out of the place, shoving the staff that had stood in front of her.
With a flick of her finger, everything turn to her favor which made AiLin wonder if these people knew how easy it was to change someone’s perspective. She wasn’t manipulative to hurt someone but to protect her name, however if someone who is manipulative and wish to hurt someone had sit in this place, it would have been easy to sway everyone’s mind into tricking who was the real good and the real villain here.
She disregarded what had happened and quickly ate her medicine. After standing up, she looked at her watch and saw the message on it, realizing that an unknown number had messaged her.
Frowning once, she decided to open her phone and see the incoming message.
[Unknown number: AiLin, about our meeting, could we perhaps see each other again at Hua Corporation banquet? This is me, Bai HaiZe.]
She stared at the message, raising her eyebrows briefly upon noting that Hua Corporation was holding a banquet. Briefly, she questioned if this was known to Li ZiChen but even if he knows considering how much Elder Hua despise them, she wouldn’t go out of her way to invite them.
The question of what banquet they were holding is also there considering her mother hadn’t spoke about it yesterday when they met, perhaps because she wasn’t told about it either.
She hummed briefly before tapping her phone [AiLin: Hi, Mr. Bai. What kind of banquet is Hua Corporation holding?]
[Hai Ze: It’s a birthday banquet if I’m not mistaken. For Someone close to Elder Hua. She decided to hold the banquet under her name as she has treated that person like her own family member. Are you going to come with me, AiLin?]
[AiLin: I’m not sure, thank you for inviting me. But I think I might not come.]
She could feel her phone vibrate but she didn’t know whether it’s right to continue texting Bai HaiZe. She didn’t want him to think that she was leading him on and wish he could stop his feelings for her before it spiral out of control which would only hurt him even more.
Though she is very curious about the banquet, it would be foolish to come there alone without anyone’s help, especially a small mistake she does could jeopardize Li ZiChen’s well crafted plan.
She decided to end the conversation there, ignoring the couple more vibration from her phone and went ahead to go back home.
The next morning, she told everything to Li ZiChen. About FangMin in the acting set, about Bai Haize’s message, and about the Hua Banquet.
He seemed taken aback upon hearing about the banquet before sighing and walking out of the kitchen. This made her curious as he had dropped his coffee filter and toward the staircase, as if to his room. When he came back to her, he had handed out a red envelope which she took to her hand even though she was confused.
Upon reading it this was... Hua Corporation’s twenty seventh’s banquet for... Su HaiTan, Elder Hua’s golden child and most beloved grandson.
When she flipped to whom it was addressed, she was surprised, "It’s for you? I thought she couldn’t stand the sight of you."
"Yet she deliberately send this to you. I was going to invite you knowing that she must have known if she had invited me, I would invite you too," He then sat beside her, his eyebrows knitted slightly, "Do you know that your mother wasn’t invited? She did it on purpose, she just wanted you and me to come."
"Then it’s a trap, let’s not come," AiLin was quick to say it. For some reasons he has a terrible, terrible gut feeling.
"I would agree with it, but I do think that there’s something she had planned. We could ignore it but the fact that she had sent this invitation to me means that no matter what she has to do, she would force us to come to the party."
"So you mean, rather than falling into her traps, we trap her first?" AiLin saw how his smile spread as his large hand settled on her head, gently rubbing it.
"Yes, would you come with me?"
AiLin looked at the invitation, feeling somehow weirded out by this invitation but she nodded when she look at him, agreeing that it was better to come together rather than alone.
Three days passed since. When AiLin had just got off work, she prepared herself to change her clothes as the make up done by the staff was already enough for the night’s event. But once she had stepped out from the building, InRan had catch up to her.
"A- AiLin!"
Flinching slightly, AiLin turned to her, thinking InRan was about to stab her with how she had ran so quickly to reach out to her. She then raised her eyebrows, staring at the other woman who seemed to be trembling.
"I- I need to talk to you."
AiLin offered her a smile that didn’t reach her eyes, "I am quite busy, I don’t think that it would be a good time for a small talk."
"No! no, we don’t have to talk. If you could just listen to me for a moment that would be great..."
AiLin sighed, "Yes?"
"I’m sorry," she said quickly, "I just want to let you know that I’m-"
AiLin shushed her, then she cut her off by speaking over her, "Do you want to apologize so you can feel better and get a good night sleep, Miss InRan? Or do you apologize because you’re scared of the scandals that would drag your name? Oh no, maybe you’re apologizing because you have realized you’re on the losing end, which one?"
Paling, InRan stared at her with her eyes slightly shaking, "No. I- I... be careful of FangMin. She has her eyes on you. She is someone who would do anything, even going so far as to work with the paparazzi to make a fake news about someone. It’s just one picture but it could destroy you. So you should be careful of her."
"And of you, right?" AiLin smiled softly. "The ice bath was a good waking up to you, I assume? How good it is to be you, someone who would learn their mistake after being punished but why is it that you have to make a mistake of hurting someone first so you can improve your ugly hearts? Don’t apologize to me again, InRan. I hate someone who apologize only after they have realized what they did were wrong. It would have been better if you hadn’t done anything wrong from the start."
