Chapter 202: Blossoming Love
Chapter 202: Blossoming Love
Li ZiChen’s eyes quake. He was holding back his anger by clenching his jaw and fists but his rage was far too much that he couldn’t handle the raging storm inside him. Abortion that he thought had been AiLin’s decision wasn’t something he had a say on. It was her body and it was her choice. To give birth at such a young age when the pregnancy wasn’t done because of her wishes, wasn’t something he wished to happen to her, and he didn’t want her to suffer because of an obligation.
Who could say it was wrong or right?
The baby that was conceived was not from.. consented act.
AiLin must have suffered and he never blamed her once for it, although the procedure was very dangerous, he thought that it must have been the doctors who hadn’t explained her properly of the immense blood loss that could happen.
That night when she had killed someone, Li ZiChen had rushed to the hospital. He had seen all the police that was there, how they all hesitated to act as they realized the person they should caught under arrest was still a young girl.
They had also found out she had loss a lot of blood, much to an amount that would have sent her to death’s door.
While the doctor clamored on how they wouldn’t be able to have enough blood to replenish AiLin’s lost blood, Li ZiChen volunteered to help. He had moved AiLin from the hospital to his own family’s hospital, struggling as he had begged his parents for help.
The help was given by Senior Mr. Li, even though he was clearly shaken by the sudden request by his eldest son who rarely ever begged him any help, he couldn’t close his eyes as he noticed that AiLin was the same girl that Li ZiChen had begged beforehand for help as she had been abused by her family.
However in exchange, his father asked him to remove his hands from this case, that while it was true that AiLin was a victim to her situation and that she shouldn’t deserve what had happened to her, she had already confessed her guilt and she was to pay for her mistakes.
Li ZiChen at first didn’t agree to it, he didn’t care whether AiLin had killed or not. In his eyes, she was innocent and would always be. She was the victim of the abuse, so how could she ever be punished for her mistakes?
He didn’t care what he needed to do, whether she’s guilty, or whether his support to someone who had killed others was wrong in his parent’s eyes. He swore to do everything to quickly release her from prison while his parents had the opposite thought and denied his help.
He had argued terribly with his father and mother, the two he had always respected so much and had always obeyed. The fight had became so big that the family was left broken for a while as Senior Mr Li had ordered him to leave Beijing and China for good, to go abroad.
Though resentful, Li ZiChen who had been sent far away from Beijing couldn’t really hold it against his parents who only wanted the best for him.
Only as he became adult did he... realized that because they had loved him that they didn’t want him to do a mistake he would regret later in his adult life.
"Your parents are kind people.." AiLin spoke after hearing everything from Li ZiChen. The reason why he couldn’t quickly release her from prison despite the power they had was because Li Family didn’t want to tamper with law, because they do not want their family to become one of those wealthy families who would simply brush aside law due to their wealthiness.
Li ZiChen’s eyes became sad, "They... never blamed you for it."
"I know," AiLin nodded, "They were against you making wrong choices but when I had entered your family’s house, both your mother and father, they never once gave me a dirty look or was wary that I might hurt them due to my past histories. That means a lot to me, a lot than words can ever describe."
She didn’t even notice that Mr and Mrs Li had been so against Li ZiChen’s help toward her, especially since they had been so welcoming to her. This only means that they were truly caring for Li ZiChen’s happiness and had known that to him, she is his happiness.
This acceptance that she couldn’t have in her own family means more than just words.
"I feel sleepy," AiLin whispered as she closed her eyes, on his chest.
Li ZiChen smiled, brushing her hair as he gently kissed her forehead, "Then go sleep. Tomorrow will be a good day, you can trust me."
She chuckled, "I don’t know why but when you say tomorrow will be a good day, I feel that it would really be a good day."
"Good night AiLin," Li ZiChen rubbed her back, his fingers so warm as it traversed against her skin. His body that was so big under her felt the most secure and warm, as if it was a big hug and his gentle stroke on her back felt like haven.
AiLin had closed her eyes, falling into sleep while Li ZiChen’s eyes that was so soft as it watched her, turn solemn. A flicker of sadness wrote over his eyes as he thought about the night where AiLin had been forced to abort a child.
Something was simply not making any sense to him.
It’s true and undeniable that the dashboard camera captured AiLin staggering toward the Jiang family’s house after being kicked out. She was clutching a gallon of fuel and drenched the garden with it.
It appeared she intended to burn the entire house to the ground, but the flames spread rapidly through the garden and reached the servants’ quarters first. The fire caused devastating damage, leading to the death of one servant —the pregnant woman— while the Jiang family managed to escape unharmed.
What stood out as odd, however, was that none of the other servants perished. They suffered injuries, but only the pregnant woman lost her life in the incident.
Could someone who had suffered such blood loss really worked hard to pour the entire house with gasoline?
Perhaps by sheer rage and frustration, but no, something else is missing.
A key that would be able to answer everything, thought Li ZiChen.
He quickly took his phone while moving so gently that Ailin wouldn’t be awoken by his movements. He then subtly caressed her cheeks, looking at the phone that connected right to Tsuki. As he didn’t want his voice to woke her, he had sent a message instead, requesting that the case to be brought back to him and for the witness, which was all the servants, in that house to be brought right in front of him again.
Perhaps this would lead to the truth that the Jiang Family was trying so hard to hide.
The next morning, AiLin had sat in the dining room beside Li ZiChen. Her cheeks were bright pink as she opened her mouth while he spoon fed her with such tenderness. He saw the drip of soup on the corner of her lips and took the paper tissue to wipe her lips so gently.
The nanny watched from afar, her eyes sparkling with delight like a giddy schoolgirl reading a romantic novel. She didn’t dare intrude on their tender moment, but today’s events had already set her heart aflutter. When she arrived at the apartment earlier, she had witnessed the young master emerging from his bedroom with AiLin— a sight that convinced her they had spent the night together.
To the nanny, this was undeniable proof of their blossoming love, stronger than ever. Unable to contain her excitement, she had already messaged her master and mistress, elaborating on the romantic tale of the lovebirds.
It was simply adorable, so much so that it threatened to give her heartburn. AiLin sat with a bright, radiant smile, basking in the gentle care that Li ZiChen lavished upon her. His every action seemed to be filled with love and tenderness, and AiLin couldn’t help but feel her heart swell with joy.
For AiLin, this was a feeling she hadn’t experienced in a long time. She thought back to the previous night, realizing how peaceful she had always felt in Li ZiChen’s presence, even during her middle school years. Seeing him again now, as an adult, made her understand something she had never fully acknowledged before: deep down, she had always loved him.
"Today... will you be going to Dr. Mei?" Li ZiChen’s hesitation was evident in his voice. He didn’t want to pressure her into attending therapy again, knowing how difficult it was for her.
AiLin looked at him, her heart warm with gratitude, and smiled. "I will," she replied softly. How could she refuse? Not when Li ZiChen had arranged everything for her happiness. "But before that I’ll be going to the set. What about you? Will you be busy today?"
"I have a meeting and a few things to work on, but then there should be nothing else to do. Why?"
"I just want to... eat dinner together with you, if you’d like."
Li ZiChen was momentarily surprised. He had loved her so much and perhaps even too much that he always told it was one sided. Especially since she was back to him now and out from the prison, he only thought that if he had confessed now, it would be too much burden on her. His only wish was for her happiness even if it wasn’t with him.
Perhaps that was why he felt his heart so moved and his happiness knows no bound.
"Of course. Let’s go, a dinner."
