Mrs Fox Heinous Revenge: Can You Love A Villainess like Me? -
Chapter 190: Testing Her Limit
Chapter 190: Testing Her Limit
This was quite a childish bullying. AiLin couldn’t tell what had made InRan to do this. Seeing how she kept looking backward at FangMin, she could only guess that their earlier conversation had caused FangMin to feel annoyed but to go so far as to bullying her?
In the first place, these ice cubes... AiLin could complain now and make a fuss but with the lack of evidence, this would only cause strain and distrust in the set. But more important that that, she wouldn’t be able to get back on these people who had done this to her and make them learn the lesson of never bullying innocent people.
"Again!" Director Gu yelled, he was annoyed but he seemed worried while looking at her. "Are you sure, AiLin? I heard that you are susceptible to cold."
"Who said that?" Ailin asked, Li ZiChen did? Maybe he had told Director Gu about their relationship?
"There! Your manager," answered Director Gu. "It’s alright if you want to take a break. Since it is your first act it must be exhausting, but I hope you wouldn’t because the rest of the staff will have to work overtime too."
AiLin could understand what the Director meant, how she would be pushing the schedules behind and she also understood while the Director truly care, he wished she could be tougher. She smiled back and assured him, "I’ll be fine. Let’s continue. The faster would be better."
Director Gu was visibly impressed, smiling widely as he patted her shoulder, "Good. I like that spirit! Everyone get back on your position now!"
AiLin then craned her neck to look upward. Her eyes, meeting InRan who was visibly more nervous. She didn’t say a word and put her head down but InRan could swear she saw the wide grin spreading AiLin’s lips when she looked down at the paper again. The latter shuddered, fearing what AiLin would do but seeing she kept quiet even to Director Gu, InRan guessed that she must be scared no one would believe her, just like in the past.
A sense of relief seemed to wash in InRan’s heart, she felt less fearful upon seeing that AiLin had kept quiet even after realizing that the water had been mixed with ice cubes, and decided to continue her mistakes, pretending every time that the mistakes she made wasn’t something she could control and was done by mistake.
"Again!"
"AGAIN!"
"WRONG. AGAIN!"
Director Gu was frustrated after the fourth try. Even AiLin decided to just enjoy the cold water as if it was a bath in the waterfall. Though she could see that the tips of her fingers had turned blue. She saw as InRan was scolded furiously by Director Gu who had slammed the rolled paper down the floor, stomping his feet as he pointed on her, "Are you crazy?! Is this your first time acting?! Don’t you see AiLin over there doing much better than you every try! Aren’t you embarrassed for making her endure your mistakes!"
"I’m sorry- I’m sorry-" InRan pleaded but Director Gu wasn’t having it.
He yelled, "Next mistake and you’re fired! I don’t care if Director Chu try to stop me, I’ll find a new person to take your role!" Harrumphing, he stormed back to his chair, his face filled with angry veins crawling over his jaw.
AiLin noted that this might be the last scene for this. She clenched her fists, pulling a smile. This time, Director Gu looked from the screen, his eyes focused as AiLin’s lashes trembled while reading the note. When she was about to read it, water poured from above her, causing her body to instantly froze.
Laughter echoed outside the stall, harsh and biting. AiLin clenched her fists, her wet clothes clinging to her as she stared blankly at the closed door. Her heart sank, knowing her tormentors were just beyond it, gleefully destroying the last shred of hope she had of finding her birth mother.
"Hey, you still in there, loser?" one of the bullies sneered, banging loudly on the stall door. "Or did you drown in your own tears?"
Another burst out laughing. "Guess she finally learned her place. Quiet as a mouse now, huh? No snarky comebacks today?"
"What’s wrong?" a third voice chimed in mockingly. "Water too cold for the princess? Aww, poor thing. Maybe next time don’t stick your nose where it doesn’t belong. Acting so proudly, how dare you think that you’re better than us?"
They laughed again, the sound cutting through her like shards of glass.
"Bet she’s just sitting there, shivering like the pathetic little rat she is," the first bully said, her voice dripping with mock pity. "Oh, wait, did we ruin your little sob story about mommy dearest? Boo-hoo!"
"Someone call the janitor," another added with a cruel giggle. "We’ve got a wet garbage in here. Oh wait... she’s the garbage!"
AiLin lifted her face, her hands that held the wet paper trembled, her expression on the screen morphed from sadness upon losing the traces of her birthmother into a deep rage. She stood up from her position, her entire body wet as a mouse.
The bullies exchanged gleeful glances as the doorknob began to turn, their anticipation bubbling into cruel laughter. When the door creaked open, revealing AiLin’s drenched figure, their joy seemed to intensify. Her soaked hair clung to her face, her eyes downcast, and every step she took radiated defeat.
"Well, look at that," one sneered, a smirk curling on her lips. "Our little drowned rat decided to come out and play."
Another chuckled, crossing her arms. "Aw, poor thing. Did the big, bad puddle ruin your day?"
Their laughter echoed like a victory chant, feeding on the sadness etched into AiLin’s every movement.
When she lifted her head, the bullies’s smile turn dark. It was because instead of sadness that had laced her eyes, it was a blazing glare.
InRan’s chest tightened at the sight, her anger flaring. That glare—it was the same one AiLin had given her years ago, back when the bullying first began. No fear, no submission, not even a flicker of regret. Just defiance, raw and unyielding. It was the reason AiLin had earned the nickname "The Fox"— a creature that would rather die than lose its pride.
"You think you’re tough, don’t you?" InRan spat, her voice sharp with frustration. She stepped forward, her hand shooting out to grab AiLin’s hair, her movements hurried and erratic. "Let’s see if that pride of yours survives this!"
AiLin’s eyes turned hostile when she saw the hand that was reached out as that wasn’t supposed to happen according to the script. But out of the goodness her heart, AiLin decided to look it aside.
Actually, not because of the goodness of her heart.
It’s because what she was about to do wasn’t according to the script either.
As InRan’s hands reached her wet hair, AiLin grabbed her by the wrist. In a moment of startle, InRan then felt her body slammed over the nearby stall, her back hitting the door hard and sharp for her to let out a sharp cry.
As if that wasn’t enough, AiLin raised her hands, "I could tolerate you as many time as you want TianLan. I wouldn’t have minded one of your tricks again and again but not today- not to this note."
AiLin watched InRan’s eyes that were shaking inside her socket as her entire body froze, as if she didn’t expect that she would retaliate against her.
Her icy composure remained unshaken, her every movement deliberate and intimidating.
With a steady hand, she grasped InRan’s neck, her fingers pressing just enough to make her intent clear. She shoved her back into the stall, her voice low and venomous as she leaned in.
"Didn’t expect me to fight back, did you?" AiLin hissed, her tone cold enough to send shivers down InRan’s spine. "You’ve spent all this time trying to break me, but you forgot one thing. I didn’t stay low because I’m scared of you. But because I have things I want to protect but this time you’ve gone too far."
"Y-You, Ai—" InRan stammered, her voice trembling as panic began to creep into her expression. But before she could finish, AiLin’s hand shot forward with the precision of a striking whip.
The sharp, unmistakable crack of a slap echoed through the stall, silencing the entire room. InRan’s head snapped to the side, her cheek burning crimson from the impact.
AiLin stood firm, her glare cutting through InRan like ice, her voice calm yet laced with fury. "Say my name again," she dared, her tone a chilling contrast to the heated sting she had just delivered. "But this time, try not to choke on your own fear."
InRan was in fear, her entire body shaking under AiLin’s mercy. She begged for forgiveness, yelling for help to the people in the set and the extras who were too shocked by the scene that they had to run away from the place, leaving InRan behind.
AiLin’s cold, unwavering demeanor remained terrifyingly composed. Her hand, having already delivered a sharp slap to InRan’s left cheek, raised again, poised like a predator ready to strike its prey. This time, it came down on the right, the sound of the impact reverberating through the stall like a thunderclap.
InRan whimpered, her pleas growing quieter, she could only tremble under AiLin’s attacks, her body shaking to no avail and it would only stop until AiLin seemed to have had enough. When she had released InRan, the latter fell on the ground with wetness under her skirt evident of her fear.
AiLin stared at InRan, her expressionless face was just simply too frightening as Director Gu and Chu who saw from the screen all shuddered but they were overjoyed as this was the exact scene that they had wanted to deliver.
"Leave." Then the demanded words came from AiLin’s lips. In almost an instant, the fearful InRan tried to stand. She slipped on her soil, but had the power to finally ran away, fueled by fear.
AiLin staggered backward, her breaths hitching as she stared at her own palms, now bright red from the force of her strikes. The sting was sharp, a mix of physical pain and something deeper—an ache that twisted her insides. Trembling, she turned toward the nearby sink, fumbling to turn the faucet. Cool water streamed over her hands, easing the burn but doing little to soothe the turmoil inside her.
She bit her lip hard, trying to push back the wave of emotions crashing over her. As she rubbed her hands together under the icy stream, her gaze caught faint streaks of ink smeared across her skin, the remnants of her "mother’s" note. The sight sent a fresh stab of pain through her chest, and hot tears rolled down her cheeks.
AiLin’s breath hitched again as she looked up, her tear-streaked face meeting her reflection in the cracked mirror. The person staring back at her was not a stranger. Her eyes were hollow, filled with regret and sorrow, a look she had bore ever since high school.
She had lashed out, "punished" InRan, but the victory was hollow. The note, the one connection to her mother, was ruined. The reality hit her like a wave, pulling her deeper into the ache of loss that no act of vengeance could ever fill.
"AND- CUT!" The Director yelled but AiLin was still staring at the person in front of her- no, the girl who had lost everything back then.
