Mrs Fox Heinous Revenge: Can You Love A Villainess like Me? -
Chapter 176: Welcoming Air
Chapter 176: Welcoming Air
As the breakfast started, the weird actions of Li Family grew oddly. Some people began on asking what’s her favorite food before placing a lot of meat on her plate because she answered how she love eating chicken. Then there was someone who seemed to be adding a lot of vegetables on her plate saying how she needed extra vegetables to be healthier.
"If you have any allergies, AiLin..."
"Don’t worry about anything else, if anyone tries to do anything bad to you, just contact us..."
"...If you ever feel sick and see this pharmacy, just come inside and tell your name, I’ve made sure all my subordinates know your face.."
AiLin awkward smile plastered on her face as she thanked everyone’s kind gestures and offers. But she still looked at this entire situation as if she just saw a moving statue. Meanwhile Li ZiChen watched everything quietly before taking another bite of his food, disregarding the chaos and confusion with a small smile on his lips. It was then when his mother slapped his arms and then pulled him away. He wasn’t really surprised by his mother’s hit and walked beside her as if he didn’t know any better.
"You have to take care of AiLin well!" Mrs Li said and grandmother Li nodded.
"Poor child," muttered grandmother Li but grandfather Li shushes her.
"No no, do you think if you’re in her position you want to be pitied by others?"
"Right!" Mrs Li answered, "Father is right, we can’t allow AiLin to feel alienated. Making her feel smaller isn’t our best choice," said Mrs Li with determination. She then snapped at her son’s face that was smiling, "And why are you smiling young man?"
"I’m happy," Li ZiChen answered and seeing his mother’s confusion, he kindly explained, "I wanted everyone to accept AiLin but I can’t do as I wish and push everything according to my wish. That would be unfair and unjust to AiLin. If she ever found out that I forced my family to accept her, she would feel immensely disappointed at me and think that I am a liar. I can’t broke her trust in me and so, I want everyone to receive her without my help."
"That makes you happy?" Mrs Li asked while staring at her son as if he had grown another pair of hands. She hummed, "So you’re happy seeing AiLin happy?"
"Who wouldn’t?" He asked before shrugging his shoulders. "Regardless, mother, grandfather, I will go back to my seat. Separating me with AiLin is a bad idea, do you know that?"
"Really?" Grandmother Li believed her grandson’s words at once and Li ZiChen grinned seeing his grandmother easily tricked by him. He nodded and spoke seriously to his family by deepening his voice.
"Grandmother in this place, AiLin only has me trust with. So without me she’s left alone and worried."
"Oh that’s true, it’s true," grandmother Li said in agreement. "Then shoo shoo, go with her, stay with her. Oh and ask Ai Lin what kind of jewelry she likes."
"She likes jades grandmother," Li ZiChen answered before walking back toward the chair and sitting beside AiLin who was watching them from afar with curiosity brimming in her eyes.
When he sat down, she smiled softly, "So what were you talking about with your family?"
"Nothing big, they were talking about some lands in Chongqing that they want to sell. Don’t you like jades, AiLin?" He then smoothly asked her and she nodded firmly.
"Yes, I love them. How do you know that?"
Li ZiChen didn’t answer but she knew this was the result of his extensive research but he wasn’t going to repeat that he had been looking into her by his investigations. She brushed it off as it was harmless and finished her breakfast in a quick second. After she was done, the maids had went to pack her belongings which was odd as she had came light with only one purse given by Li ZiChen yet somehow she was going to leave with a suitcase.
Then there was another bigger trouble. It was Grandmother Li who was giving her cluster of jewelries to her hands. She snapped her finger to a maid who was holding to a tablet of jade bracelet that was rosey in color. It was so pretty that she almost gagged seeing it but then had to control her face as whenever she got startled by the new jade jewelries given by grandmother Li, the woman smiled wide and tell her, "You like that one! Pack it! Pack the set that comes with it too! What about diamonds Ai Lin?"
"Ah, I think this is enough grandmother. I couldn’t possibly take more from you..."
"What are you saying? Li Family has enough of this to fill a large mansion. Get another one! This grandmother won’t suddenly get poor because you took all the needed items."
Pursing her lips tighter, she squeezed her eyes and tried sending Li ZiChen a look of help but he seemed to not see her face. That or he was pretending not to see her. She clenched her fists and though she was happy she felt guilty for having to take the woman’s jewelries though it was offered to her.
Meanwhile Li ZiChen had sat beside his father and grandfather along with the other uncles. While most of them smoke his father and him had been taught not to smoke since young and they were two systematic people who simply wouldn’t do it after seeing the disadvantages it could bring. However they weren’t party pooper either and would simply sit beside the smokers with a composed self.
Li Zi Chen looked at his father who was quiet and finally he asked first, "Do you dislike AiLin?"
His father turned his face to his son and seemed to be thinking of the questions asked in all seriousness. "No. I have told you since you were young Zi Chen. As a father I would never get in between your way and your love for another person all I want is for you to make sure that person in question is someone who you truly can trust."
Zi Chen smiled, "I know father. I thought you would like her too but I would listen to any complains you have though I doubt she has any for you to say a complain."
His father broke to a smile, something he would only do to his wife and his sons. He answered with a chuckle, "This side of you is more like your mother than me."
"And aren’t you glad to see that? I know you wanted to have a daughter so you could have a child who has mother’s look."
"I can’t care whether the children born from Li Lian is a woman or a man, Zi Chen," he looked at his son and gave an approved nod. "Any child that was born from her, I will love them regardless."
"I know," Zi Chen said, a note of proudness could be heard from his words.
"Fate is very unpredictable isn’t it," said Senior Mr Li who then added, "Who would have guessed the girl you had asked me to help back in your middle school days would now be your lover."
Li ZiChen’s eyes darkened as he moved his gaze down to the table, "Don’t tell that to her." He looked again at AiLin and his lips turned thin.
"Why?" His father then narrowed his gaze. "Does this have to do with what happened last night?"
"Father," Li ZiChen muttered and turned to his father, "If you were in my position, what would you do?"
"I don’t know," his father answered straightforwardly, "If it was Li Lian who had suffered, I would prioritize her over anyone even if that means I have to fool the entire world for her."
"That’s what I thought," Li ZiChen pressed his back to the couch as he admired AiLin’s smile as she managed to make grandmother Li laugh upon her words. She was like a magnet who had managed to bring everyone around her in just a pull by her presence, something she had done magically even to him. He admired that so much from her and though there was always a part of him who would want to keep her for himself, he wasn’t someone who would blow out a candle’s flame just to make that flame light for himself.
To simpler words, he could clip AiLin’s wings but he would be the last person to do that.
"How long has this been happening?" His father started the question, "You know what she did last night? From what I can tell she’s been suffering this from long, the amount of stress and trauma she had gone through since middle school, I would assume, must have scarred her deep enough."
Li ZiChen nodded as he answered firmly, "I’m going to heal her. Make sure she has a life better than everyone else so she wouldn’t have to go back and look at her pasts or be haunted by it ever again."
