Mrs Fox Heinous Revenge: Can You Love A Villainess like Me? -
Chapter 173: Fitting Puzzles
Chapter 173: Fitting Puzzles
AiLin moved to the room where Cousin Ling had stayed in, along with Li ZiChen beside her. She saw the woman who was still asleep while her arms were crossed, staring from afar in silence. She wondered in her mind, who would have such a deep grudge against Cousin Ling when she is such a great person? If everyone does have a small grudge against her because she’s always in justice’s side, would that be enough reason to try and kill her?
She couldn’t help but ask why someone who seemed so peaceful would be so hated by others.
"What are you thinking?" His voice entered her ears and she turned to him, her lips pursed.
"Just puzzles, but without shapes so I can’t find any solutions to it," she sighed briefly and walked away from the room as she could see from the corner of her eyes people gathering toward the room. "So were there any recording near the garden from the CCTV?"
Li ZiChen’s eyes glittered in impressed gaze as he was happy to see AiLin who could have thought far ahead about the CCTV cameras when it’s all been hidden very carefully.
He replied, "The person who had pushed Cousin Ling was hidden behind the tree. It does prove your innocence but not to prove the perpetrator’s identity."
"Tsk," she clicked her tongue, feeling a little annoyed as she didn’t like any loose ends in a case. She stopped when she saw Silver 1 and her brother arguing near the door. Narrowing her eyes, she tried to read their lips but couldn’t read it properly with how quick they had spoken, "Do you know why silver 1 hates me?"
"DaYan?" He looked at one of his cousins and hummed, "There could be a few reasons."
"Such as?" She asked, her face turning toward him. It seems that he knew the reason.
"She was close to Ling-er ever since they were babies. They were childhood friends, so they were closer than even siblings. Though she wasn’t related from our family at first, she was close enough to participate many celebrations in the house, so much so that everyone have thought of her as a part of the family even before her marriage to my cousin. There was a time when they said Ling liked me and that she tried to confess to me," he spoke and paused as she cut off politely,
"The thing that they said earlier! So did she confess to you?"
"Confess," he scoffed, "She did confess but she wasn’t confessing her love. Seems like those children misunderstood it. She was confessing about her one sided affection for her current husband, my cousin."
"So it’s a misunderstanding," she hummed but something still feels odd. She suddenly had an idea and held to his hand, making their way toward the Koi pond again. Before she could take a step forward however, li ZiChen had took her hands and grabbed it tightly. "No."
"Wait a second," she said and then she walked toward the bridge, her eyes turning at the spot where Cousin Ling had once stood at. She looked at the tree for a while and finally made up her mind. She turned back to him and asked her question again, "How many people have excused themselves from the dining room apart from me?"
"Four."
"Can you bring the four of them to the living room? It would be best if your parents are there too," she suggested and Li ZiChen seemed to sense that she had solved the problem.
They quickly gathered everyone again in the room with AiLin standing in the middle and the four people sitting in front of her. Those four people were the two cousins who had been fighting about their hidden grudges against Cousin Ling and then the other two was none other than silver one and her brother.
"I think it’s safe to say now that after the recording my innocence has been proven," she said to everyone in the room and Silver one scoffed at her face.
"Yeah? So what? You’ve gathered us here only to say that proudly? To rub it on our face?"
"Hardly, what I mean is since my innocence has been proven, I can be more trusted with what I’m about to say," AiLin wasn’t deterred by the suspicious gazes that fell on her. She held her hand and spoke clearly while making a brief eye contact to Li ZiChen who had encouraged her from the side.
"I was thinking how could the person who had pushed Cousin Ling would be able to appear and disappear so quickly. That would mean that this person is familiar with the house’s interior. They must be someone thin enough to hide behind the tree as well. So someone quick in feet, someone who knows this house, and someone thin."
"Well that crossed me out," said one of the cousin with a grin, "Never been more proud about my round stomach till today."
"Let’s not get too hasty, Cousin AHan," AiLin answered to him politely. "What I have gathered is that the four of you all had some hidden grudges against Cousin Ling."
"What?" Cousin AHan narrowed his eyes and slammed his hands. He was about to throw hands but saw Li ZiChen standing menacingly from behind and hesitated all his action out of fear. His voice grew smaller, "D- do you mean that we would try and kill her just because of that?"
"Maybe, no one can say it for sure," said AiLin but silver one scoffed again from the side.
"Those two might have grudges but me and my brother has none. I’m a great friend to Cousin Ling and everyone here would attest to that."
"Yes, maybe not you," AiLin answered before pointing toward her brother who flinched as she pointed her index finger toward him. It’s clear that he had grown quiet this entire time upon being called into the living room and his face looked like the face of someone who was about to face their death sentence. "But he does have one, doesn’t he?"
Everyone’s faces snapped toward the younger brother of Silver one, his name being DaYoung. DaYoung’s mouth was pursed, his fists clenched, and anger crossed his face as he snapped his gaze back at AiLin, "What the fuck do you mean by that huh? Do you think you know everything when you’re just an outsider?"
"Because I’m an outsider that I can say this," AiLin said as she crossed her arms, "I asked Zi Chen earlier if there were a lot of people who had grudges against Cousin Ling and I heard a really interesting rumors from him. Like how Silver one— I mean, DaYan and you have been a childhood friend of Cousin Ling for a long while."
"So?" Dayan snapped, "What does that have to do with my little brother huh?"
"There’s a rumor about how you once liked Cousin Ling, isn’t that right?" AiLin asked and the pallidness on both siblings appeared again. "You seem to hate me, DaYan because Zi Chen chose me instead of Cousin Ling?"
"No. I hate you because you’re an outsider. Third Aunt has told us what kind of things an outsider could do."
"Exactly that’s why you decided to do this today," AiLin pressed her palms to the table, moving forward to DaYan with a grin, "Why would you guys trust a saying of an outsider? They’re an outsider after all! The words of an outsider is as light as a feather, as twisted as a rubber band. You can’t ever trust in them because no one from your own family would try to hurt you. But an outsider? They won’t think twice before doing it."
The two siblings stared at her in horror, their face drenching in fear. Not because of what AiLin had said had sounded like a threat but because those words had been uttered by their mouth and they were horrified to hear it being uttered again by AiLin in such speed and accuracy.
"Let me guess what happened. At first, I have rethought that perhaps your two cousins over here were the one planning the murderer. Why? Because this plan needs to be done together. Funnily enough those two were in separate places. I can say this for certain because you can look at Cousin AHan’s clothes. His is slightly wet around his neck because he went to the bathroom while your other cousin had gone out for a smoke and the smell is strong enough for anyone to know that he had smoked for far too long. The area to smoke and the bathroom is too far apart. They have enough reasons not to work against each other unlike you two who had enough reasons to work hand in hand, after all you guys are siblings who understood each other more than others would."
Someone was going to speak but Ailin raised her hands, "You guys need evidence to prove my words, I understand but do let me complete my words first."
"No! Wait. We have alibi," said Silver One in a hurry. "We were with grandmother Li. She was there and she knew we were together."
"I was waiting for you to say that, DaYan." She turned toward everyone in the room and showed a wide smile, "Do you know why I said there was two people needed to push Cousin Ling into the pond?" She pointed toward the garden outside, "Becuase you need someone to pretend to be your other sibling while the other will have to go to the pond and push Cousin Ling."
