Chapter 2617: Chapter 2615: The Secret of the Bunker

“No way?”

Ethan Smith felt like crying without tears; two consecutive items were useless!

These were acquired from the military merits he’d risked his life for, and the two mysterious items had already cost nearly half of his merits.

There was one more item left, and Ethan felt his hand trembling a little.

He closed his eyes and reached for the last black light orb.

After gripping it tightly and shattering it, a cool sensation fell into his hand.

Then Ethan felt a massive energy envelop his palm, and the energy traveled up his entire arm. This energy felt even more powerful than the energy he sensed from the Void Hat the first time.

Before his eyes was an ancient little dagger handle, which seemed to belong to a dagger but oddly, the blade was not visible.

Ethan immersed his divine sense into the dagger, and as expected, a large amount of information rushed into his Sea of Consciousness.

These were scenes of battles fought by the dagger’s previous owner, and although he’d arrived at the Holy Kingdom, these images did not dissipate.

Ethan stared intently at these battle scenes, as they were crucial for judging the dagger’s abilities.

Shadowless, twenty centimeters long, with an invisible blade.

In one scene, the owner of this dagger faced a Demon Cultivator clad in physical armor.

Six consecutive strikes left no mark on the cultivator’s body, but the last strike actually severed the entire arm.

It seemed the blade was composed of energy, and upon closer inspection, Ethan discovered that the blade had slight discrepancies with the surrounding environment.

Perhaps it was due to the blade’s energy, and it seemed there was a certain probability of bypassing defenses.

This was terrifying; as the scenes depicted, the Shadowless could not ordinarily break through the Demon Cultivator’s body, but the final strike directly severed the limb.

This must be one of the attributes of the Shadowless, and Ethan was somewhat shocked.

Such an attribute was undoubtedly against the natural order. Imagine a person with peak physical cultivation suddenly having their defense breached—what a despairing situation that would be.

Moreover, this dagger complemented his current Sequence of Reflection; if luck was on his side, it could yield miraculous effects.

However, like the Void Hat, this dagger was also somewhat damaged, and its remaining power probably couldn’t be used for long.

Ethan let out a sigh of relief; it was fortunate that one out of the three mysterious items was useful.

If all three were worthless, he would truly be at a loss for words.

After completely exchanging his military merits, the last task awaited him.

He needed to explore the living being within the bunker, the person the elder had spoken of.

Why could they decide the outcome of this war?

At the General’s Mansion, Yvelise Ayers was already waiting.

“What do you think of the one in the bunker?”

Ethan asked, though he didn’t like the man in front of him, his strategies revealed many insights.

“Analyzing it normally, even though we all reached here with peak power, the gap between both sides shouldn’t be this vast. Additionally, Saifu can recruit outsiders, making our chances of winning virtually nil. Thus, I suspect the being in the bunker might have some special power, or something else, to prevent this war from being utterly hopeless…”

Yvelise tapped his forehead.

“Let’s go…”

Having made up his mind, Ethan no longer hesitated.

He and Yvelise entered the General’s Mansion, where Yvelise took a deep breath and said to Li Liefeng in the main hall.

“General, we need to go to the bunker in Nine Bends City to meet that person.”

“Your merits allow you to enter the bunker once, but I remind you, none who’ve gone in have returned. Are you sure you wish to proceed?”

Li Liefeng’s lips curled into a peculiar smile.

“Not me, it’s him going.”

Yvelise pointed at Ethan.

“Alright, if you’ve made up your mind, you can go with the Supervising Battle Team soldiers. They’ll take you to the bunker.”

Li Liefeng waved his hand, not dwelling further.

He coughed lightly, a mouthful of blood uncontrollably flowing from the corner of his mouth.

“Li Liefeng’s injury worsens; it seems the backlash from destroying that altar was greater than I imagined. In his current state, he might not hold against Saifu for much longer.”

Ethan shook his head; yesterday, Li Liefeng’s injury was not so severe. It’s likely the Necromancer’s power continuously corroded his body.

With the Great War about to begin, the two of them went directly with the Supervising Battle Team to the bunker.

The bunker was located deep within Nine Bends City, and from the entrance, it appeared to be an ancient, eerie prison.

Strangely, Ethan’s Nine Heavens Condensing Pupil couldn’t see inside.

The Nine Heavens Condensing Pupil could usually see through all concealments, indicating that formidable energy protection was in place.

“Be careful, even now, I can’t see the end of it. The black-and-white game is ever-changing, and any decision you make inside could involve life and death.”

Yvelise’s expression was grave, unable to predict what might happen inside.

Ethan nodded and pushed the door open.

As Ethan stepped in, his body suddenly felt lighter.

It was as if he had entered a void, and then he just floated there.

That feeling was extremely uncomfortable; his current power couldn’t sustain floating, as if this were another space entirely.

He was taken aback; indeed, the Holy Kingdom had its own unique laws.

He couldn’t sense these laws now, likely because his Divine Soul wasn’t strong enough.

Once the Divine Power strengthened his Divine Soul, he might begin to comprehend this power.

Moreover, the Power of Space in this Holy Kingdom was incomparably stronger than that of the lower worlds.

Ethan felt like a small boat in a hurricane, at risk of capsizing at any moment in this void.

At this moment, he couldn’t control his direction, and he didn’t know how long it had been.

Ethan suddenly felt a weight on his body, before him.

Four talismans floated in the air, emitting waves of powerful energy from their forms.

The terrifying energy waves seemed ready to crush him at any moment, leaving Ethan’s heart pounding, and these were just used to seal the person in the center.

Within, an aged and weathered face appeared before Ethan, etched with the marks of time and wrinkles.

In contrast, there was a deep purple eye, staring at Ethan as if it could see through everything.

Ethan’s face turned pale, as if he’d been severely wounded.

What terrifying power!

How could such a dreadful being exist in this small city?
