Chapter 2578: Chapter 2576: Massacre of the Village

Ethan Smith hesitated for a moment, but decided to follow them when they were about to leave his line of sight.

After walking some distance, Ethan finally judged that they really hadn’t doubled back to ambush him.

Ethan felt a bit puzzled, it seemed he truly owed these two a life debt.

Following them for nearly four hours, the colossal bushes and vines on the ground here seemed to have been trimmed by someone.

They became very smooth, forming a slightly gentler path.

"Grandpa! There’s an injured pig beast here; today we can have roasted pork!"

The little boy laughed heartily, and at this moment, a huge penetrating wound appeared on Davis Brady’s face in front of them.

This Davis Brady seemed not yet completely dead, its large belly was still heaving up and down.

"Seems like pretty good luck, it looks like some other demon race was recently hunting here, judging by the wound it’s very likely those Night Devil Crows from earlier. Maxwell, wait for Grandpa, and first check if there’s any danger nearby before approaching."

The old man was somewhat cautious; he climbed up a tree to look all around.

Only after confirming there were no Night Devil Crows around did he slide down to join the little boy and walk forward.

"Maxwell, let Grandpa teach you how to handle boar skin today, it really takes some skill. Only by cutting it properly can we make the best use of this boar hide."

The old man chuckled, taking a bone-made dagger in his hand, ready to start cutting the boar skin from the head.

A hand suddenly grabbed his wrist, and the old man’s body stiffened sharply.

Seeing it was Ethan, his tense expression relaxed.

Ethan shook his head and pulled the old man and child aside.

The two looked puzzled, not knowing what Ethan intended to do.

But in a short while, that Davis Brady’s belly suddenly swelled high, as if the belly skin was propped up like an umbrella.

Then a sharp beak pierced through the tough boar skin, and a Night Devil Crow, covered in blood, flapped a few times before leaving.

"So dangerous! I never thought the Night Devil Crow was actually devouring the flesh and blood inside the boar. If startled, it surely would have screeched, and by then, the two of us would have died here."

The old man’s face was full of fear as he pulled the little boy over.

"Maxwell, bow with me to thank the gentleman."

The two bent deeply in salute, bowing low, offering a formal Taoist acknowledgment.

"No need for such courtesy, old man. You also saved my life earlier, and I have no gesture of thanks either."

Seeing the two being so polite, Ethan hurriedly pulled them up.

"A life-saving grace requires proper courtesy. Benefactor, please accompany me to the village so I can host you."

The old man spoke firmly.

"Alright!"

Ethan was now thoroughly convinced that the two meant him no harm.

That was just right, he could see who this high person capable of enlightening these Beast Spirits was, although it was somewhat risky.

But Ethan felt that a sage who educates and enlightens surely posed no threat to him.

As the old man led the way, the path ahead gradually widened.

Deep in the primal forest, a small village nestled quietly. The village was surrounded by dense trees, with towering ancient trees casting mottled shadows in the sunlight. A clear stream flowed gently past the village, bringing serenity and vitality.

The village houses were simply built, mostly from wood and bamboo, blending naturally with the surroundings. The village’s winding paths, paved with stones, crossed every corner of the settlement.

A large fire burned inside, likely the place where the villagers gathered to eat.

Most living beings feared the power of fire; the larger the flames, the better they could drive these Demonic Beasts away.

"The firelight up ahead is where our villagers gather to eat daily, chatting and listening to the village elder’s stories! Grandpa, with a guest here today, I want to stay up late!"

Maxwell grabbed his grandpa’s hand, bouncing high like swinging on a swing.

"Alright! Alright!"

The old man chuckled, stroking his white beard.

Hmmm?

Ethan frowned as they got deeper, yet he didn’t see anyone.

Instead, he faintly smelled a scent of blood, his body tensing slightly, vigilant around the old man.

However, the old man also looked serious, staring into the depths while moving past Ethan slowly.

As they neared the bonfire site, they could faintly hear chaotic laughter.

When they got closer, they saw three Demon Cultivators, each about one and a half times the size of Ethan, speaking loudly there.

"Demon Flame, Ghost Light, did you see? Just as I suspected, though we can’t use techniques here, our Demon Cultivator Body Refinement methods still work. The Divine Power contained in this meat we devoured from over thirty souls almost doubled our Demon Body’s strength!"

A blood-covered Demon clan, its body covered with blood scabs, laughed heartily, gnawing on a head, slowly biting off its flesh.

"All thanks to Lord Mingshin’s decisiveness. At first I feared we might lose, but I didn’t expect these living beings not to resist. Now our strength surely surpasses other beings entering this Holy Kingdom."

Demon Flame’s face showed a grim expression.

"Quickly finish simmering this blood broth, then use it for the first step of Demon Body refining, and continue searching for similar villages. If I’m not wrong, these beings seem restricted by certain rules."

Mingshin looked at a particular spot, a wary expression on his face.

Who’s there? Come out now!

"Why did you kill our tribe, Grandpa? Didn’t we save them? Why did they kill Auntie Margo, Sister Qin, and Brother Gu?"

The little boy wept loudly, clinging to his grandfather’s leg and crying out loud.

"Here are two more blood meals. Cut off their heads and simmer them for blood broth."

Mingshin’s eyes lit up upon seeing the two.

Each living being here symbolized a share of Divine Power.

"Boss, there’s also an outsider delivered to us!"

Demon Flame, almost instantly, noticed Ethan behind him, eyeing him like a hungry wolf finding rabbits.

The two blocked the path front and back, leaving no time for Ethan to react.

They had already charged completely, gigantic brute force clashing with Ethan’s fists, causing both sides to tremble slightly.

Nine Heavens Condensing Pupil.

In a flash, Ethan fully unleashed his punches, blasting out against the sides of both assailants’ arms.

As the two Demon Cultivators’ force missed, their bodies also crashed hard into Ethan.

"Such terrifying strength!"

Blood trickled from the corner of Ethan’s mouth.

While he had slain quite a few living beings, these two Demon Cultivators had killed quite a number as well.

Moreover, Ethan felt the blood scabs covering their fists seemed like some kind of Demon Cultivator Body Tempering Technique.
