Chapter 597: Chapter 597: Still Can’t Let Go

Of course they had to go together, no one was more anxious than Su Mu; she couldn’t wait to see Qiqi and know her current state. Thus, she rose and walked with Fu Shinian towards Qiqi’s room.

Although Qiqi had locked her room from the inside, when Fu Shinian initially designed the princess room, he had foreseen this situation. It wasn’t about invading Qiqi’s privacy, but purely out of the concern that she might lock herself in and couldn’t open the door, so they needed a way in from outside.

It was only intended as a precaution, yet unexpectedly it became necessary.

Before they reached Qiqi’s room’s door, the sound of opening the main door downstairs came rushing, followed by hurried footsteps. Fu Shinian and Su Mu had just reached the stairwell, so with a slight turn of their heads, they could see the hurried figure of Su Shiyue. Fu Shinian looked at Su Mu and then set his gaze on Su Shiyue:

"Why have you come over so late?"

Su Shiyue didn’t answer immediately. Her gaze shifted between Fu Shinian and Su Mu several times, and finally not spotting any inconsistencies, she asked, "You guys didn’t have a fight?"

Su Mu felt somewhat guilty, but Fu Shinian caught the key point in Su Shiyue’s words:

"Did Qiqi call you?"

"How did you know?"

"What did she say?"

Su Shiyue looked at him helplessly: "Nothing really, she just cried the whole time, asked me to come over early tomorrow to take her to school. I was worried, so I came over now. What exactly happened? Qiqi, who is always so cheerful and lively, is hysterical. Did you mistreat her?"

Fu Shinian frowned displeasedly at Su Shiyue. Su Shiyue quieted down instantly. Right, such speculation was indeed irresponsible. After all, the extent of Fu Shinian’s doting on Qiqi was fully evident, completely genuine.

Hearing Su Shiyue’s words, Fu Shinian looked at Su Mu:

"We agreed to go to the temporary resort tomorrow, but Qiqi called Shiyue, seems like she doesn’t want to go."

Su Mu softly responded:

"She doesn’t want to see us either, otherwise she wouldn’t have asked Shiyue to take her to school."

Fu Shinian didn’t say anything and walked towards Qiqi’s room after a few seconds of silence, Su Mu followed closely, and driven by concern for Qiqi, Su Shiyue also followed them closely behind.

Carefully, Fu Shinian opened the door of the room. The room was lit; Qiqi was asleep on the bed, still in her clothes, and her face was dirty from crying, looking pear-flowered and rain-soaked. Her mobile phone was still clenched in her hand without being let go, and her body was curled up in an insecure posture.

Su Mu slowed her steps and went over, gently lifting Qiqi, and then cautiously helped her undress, while Fu Shinian also turned back into the room and then came towards Qiqi carrying a hot towel. Su Shiyue, realizing she was somewhat superfluous standing at the door, turned around and went downstairs.

It was already very late, it was not possible for her to go back now, plus she had to take Qiqi to school tomorrow, she decided to sleep directly in the guest room later.

Su Mu and Fu Shinian attended to Qiqi as she went back to sleep; she did not wake up nor showed any restlessness, seemingly extremely exhausted. Su Mu watched as Fu Shinian gently placed Qiqi back into bed, while she picked up Qiqi’s phone to check the dialed numbers; unsurprisingly, there was Wen Shaoyuan’s number.

Fu Shinian saw what Su Mu was doing and smiled slightly:

"Does this count as intruding on our daughter’s privacy?"

"She is only three years old."

"That also involves privacy," said Fu Shinian as he took the phone from Su Mu’s hand, turned off the screen, and placed it on the bedside table: "Let’s go."

Su Mu reluctantly looked at Qiqi, knowing that staying with Qiqi and waiting for her to wake up tomorrow wouldn’t make her happy; she might even be angrier. Thus, there was no need to stay. He bent down to kiss Qiqi on the forehead, got up, and followed Fu Shinian out.

As they passed the staircase, Fu Shinian saw Su Shiyue sitting in the living room downstairs. He slightly signaled Su Mu, who then nodded and headed back to the master bedroom first. Fu Shinian slowly walked down the stairs, but instead of approaching Su Shiyue directly, he went to the bar and poured himself a glass of red wine.

However, this series of actions did not disturb the daydreaming Su Shiyue until Fu Shinian sat across from her and casually kicked the low table in front of her. Only then did Su Shiyue snap back to reality, slightly startled:

"When did you come down?"

"While you were daydreaming," Fu Shinian said nonchalantly: "What were you thinking about?"

"Nothing much," replied Su Shiyue indifferently: "How’s Qiqi?"

"Asleep."

Su Shiyue nodded, said nothing, not knowing if it was psychological, but she always felt inexplicably guilty in front of Fu Shinian. Although she did nothing wrong, perhaps the incidents in Jiangcheng City were still hard for her to digest. Thus, even after such a long time, she still felt like running away.

So she stood up:

"I’m going back to my room to sleep."

"Don’t you want to chat with me?" Fu Shinian halted Su Shiyue’s steps: "We haven’t seen each other in a while, have we?"

Su Shiyue paused for a few seconds, then slowly sat down, looked at Fu Shinian for a few seconds, and chuckled bitterly:

"Brother, I know what you want to talk about, but I’m really quite alright now, you don’t have to worry too much."

"You’ve lost weight," said Fu Shinian, mentioning something seemingly casual. After a sip of red wine, he continued: "Can’t let go yet, can you?"

"It’s not that, but my heart always feels blocked."

Actually, Fu Shinian was not recently aware of Su Shiyue’s condition. Although she had been living alone in Bishui Yuntian and visiting the studio less frequently than before, Su Mu could only know so much about her situation. But ultimately, she was still Fu Shinian’s sister, and his people were always there to protect her.

If there was any important matter, Fu Shinian would know her situation at the first instance. It’s not known whether Su Shiyue had truly grown up from the previous incident or if the impact of that incident was too considerable, that in these past two months, she behaved unusually submissively, which made Fu Shinian not recognize her.

"If you’re feeling down, go unwind, whether domestically or abroad, it’s up to you. I will cover the expenses."

Upon hearing this, Su Shiyue cracked a slight smile:

"I appreciate your concern, and I know stepping out to clear my mind is a good idea, but I just feel too lazy to move. Sometimes, I don’t even feel like going to the sister-in-law’s studio, so let’s hold off on traveling abroad for now. When I feel like going, I’ll ask you for money."

Fu Shinian looked at Su Shiyue and smiled slightly:

"Alright."
