Chapter 558: Chapter 558: The So-Called Loss, Everything as Usual
After hanging up the phone, Fu Shinian looked at Su Mu:
"Do you want to sleep a bit more? It’s still a while before we reach Jiangcheng City."
"No need." Su Mu, no longer feeling sleepy, asked, "Are you really taking Qiqi and Shaoyuan together to the resort?"
"Is there a problem?"
"No." Su Mu smiled, "It’s just that I feel like the three of us haven’t had a trip together, so not only Qiqi but even I am kind of excited."
Although these words were of happiness, hearing them made Fu Shinian feel strangely heartbroken. Qiqi was already 3 years old and at this age, if growing up in a normal family, would have already visited countless places. Although Su Mu took care of Qiqi really well and they had been to many countries even at the tender age of three, the absence of a father figure, Fu Shinian believed, not only Qiqi, but even Su Mu must feel it as a regret.
Fortunately, there is still time. Qiqi really likes him and has accepted his late entry into their lives, and they now have plenty of time to thoroughly enjoy life.
Fu Shinian firmly held Su Mu’s hand:
"In the future, there will be many opportunities, so much that you might even get tired of it."
Su Mu smiled: "That won’t happen. With you and Qiqi by my side, I will always be happy."
Fu Shinian looked at Su Mu with a glowing gaze. Realizing this, Su Mu slightly puzzled asked, "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"I’ll take that last sentence as a confession."
Su Mu reflected on his words and smiled slightly:
"No need to take it as a confession because it’s exactly how I feel."
Fu Shinian raised his eyebrows at this:
"Can you say it more directly?"
Su Mu pretended not to understand and turned away, looking out the window. Fu Shinian knew her little thoughts and smiled slightly, yet he didn’t force her. After all, he felt that these things are best when they happen naturally. Forcing her to speak though it might be genuine, wouldn’t bring the same joy as a sudden pleasant surprise.
When they arrived in Jiangcheng City, it was already six in the evening. Fu Shinian took Su Mu directly to the restaurant and invited Song Yi to dine with them. Song Yi felt somewhat uneasy. It wasn’t that he had never had such an experience, but at this moment, he always felt like an glaring light bulb. However, since Fu Shinian and Su Mu had invited him, he couldn’t refuse and joined them at the table.
Fu Shinian has properties in Jiangcheng City, hence he and Su Mu didn’t book a hotel here. After dinner, when Song Yi was about to leave them at the apartment building, Fu Shinian directly said:
"Come up too."
Song Yi was surprised for a moment, forcing a smile: "Mr. Fu, isn’t that inappropriate?"
Fu Shinian scoffed lightly:
"I wouldn’t agree to you living with us, but I have two apartments up there. You can stay in one. However, if you don’t want to or find it inconvenient, you can go to a hotel now. I won’t force you."
After saying this, he took Su Mu’s hand and entered the apartment. Su Mu felt puzzled and while waiting for the elevator, asked:
"When did you buy another apartment here?"
Fu Shinian played dumb, looking at Su Mu: "Did I? Didn’t I always have two?"
Su Mu squinted her eyes looking at Fu Shinian, and suddenly understood, "So the one who bought my apartment really was you?"
"Yes, it was me." Fu Shinian admitted with a smile, "Do you think I would let someone else buy the place where my wife and child have lived for almost three years and change everything about it?"
Su Mu was at a loss for words:
"What kind of logic is that?"
"Domineering logic."
After saying that, the elevator arrived, and just before stepping in, Su Mu saw Song Yi entering as well. She gave a slight smile, because from Song Yi’s face, she always felt he was a pitiful person subjected to the reluctant submission under Fu Shinian’s overwhelming power, and she had felt this way since dinner.
Su Mu held back her laughter, not voicing her feelings, but that didn’t mean Fu Shinian was unaware of it. Inside the elevator, Song Yi was desperately trying to minimize his presence, standing in the corner with even his breathing kept light, while Fu Shinian held Su Mu’s hand, lightly humming out:
"What’s that expression for?"
Song Yi didn’t react, since he thought Fu Shinian’s question was definitely directed at Su Mu, but with no response from Su Mu, the atmosphere turned a bit weird. Only after glancing up at Fu Shinian did Song Yi realize Fu Shinian’s gaze was on him, and next to him, Su Mu was also trying to hold back her laughter, leaving Song Yi puzzled:
"Mr. Fu, are you asking me?"
"Who else?" Fu Shinian looked at him, "If you don’t want to stay here, you can leave. I only considered that you have been driving all day and didn’t want you to go through the trouble of finding a hotel late at night. But if you feel my decision is a burden, or you have other plans, you can refuse."
Song Yi was almost in tears:
"Mr. Fu, I didn’t mean that, I just don’t want to disturb you and Mrs. Fu."
"You won’t disturb us, and I wouldn’t allow you to disturb us either."
Song Yi: "..."
When did his boss start behaving this tsundere, and how did he not realize it at all? Or is it that Fu Shinian’s tsundere attitude only shows in front of Su Mu? Either way, Song Yi already felt that his next couple of days in Jiangcheng City wouldn’t be easy.
The elevator reached the designated floor, which had a design of two households per floor. Originally, Su Mu’s apartment was on the left, but everything had been moved to the apartment on Fu Shinian’s right, so she instinctively started walking towards the right. However, Fu Shinian grasped her hand, saying:
"We are living on this side."
After saying so under Su Mu’s puzzled gaze, he handed a key to Song Yi, saying, "Help yourself."
Song Yi thanked him, then quickly entered the room, as if fearing that lingering would have him cleaned up by Fu Shinian. Su Mu smiled slightly, "You kind of scared him."
"No, he’s been by my side for so many years, he knows what to do at what times."
After saying this, he directly led Su Mu by the hand to the left apartment, and as Fu Shinian opened the door, Su Mu was still puzzled, especially since she remembered that the room wasn’t left with much furniture, and Fu Shinian hadn’t been staying in Jiangcheng City. So she was skeptical.
But as the door opened and the living room lights turned on, Su Mu was stunned in place, taking a long time to recover. Fu Shinian didn’t rush her, walked to the couch and sat down, and after waiting a while without seeing her come over, he slightly smiled:
"How long do you plan to stand there?"
Su Mu snapped back to reality. It wasn’t that she was overreacting, but everything here seemed as if nothing had changed since before the sale, as if the items moved to Fu Shinian’s apartment had been returned back to their original places by magic.
