Chapter 453: Chapter 453: Taking Advantage of Someone’s Vulnerability, Sharing the Same Bed

Fu Shinian ignored Su Mu’s daze and packed her things himself, occasionally turning back to ask where something should go or if she wanted to keep it. Su Mu would sometimes respond or choose to remain silent, but Fu Shinian didn’t mind and kept asking until Su Mu spoke up.

It had to be admitted that with Fu Shinian’s help, Su Mu packed much more efficiently. In no time, the living room was almost cleared. Su Mu, feeling tired, sat down on the sofa. Fu Shinian looked at her with a smile, bent down, and picked up a box full of items:

"I’ll move these over first and come back to help you later."

"No need," Su Mu said lazily. "I fear I no longer have the energy to pack anymore today. I’m going to sleep."

Fu Shinian glanced at her without a word and left. Su Mu ultimately trusted Fu Shinian, and so, after he left, she fell asleep without any precautions—and it was a deep sleep, such that even when Fu Shinian returned, he didn’t wake her.

Initially, Fu Shinian didn’t think Su Mu was asleep. But after he put a few items from outside back into the box, and Su Mu still hadn’t opened her eyes, he realized she was indeed asleep. He put down what he was holding, walked over to Su Mu, and stared at her for a while, then he smiled slightly:

"Su Mu."

Su Mu didn’t respond, so Fu Shinian continued to call:

"Su Mu."

She just frowned slightly in response, seemingly displeased by his voice, so he didn’t continue. He looked at the somewhat messy living room, bent down, and picked up Su Mu, who was asleep and didn’t struggle like before; instead, she found a comfortable position in his embrace. This gave Fu Shinian a feeling akin to holding a little kitten.

However, he really liked this feeling of being relied upon, especially by Su Mu.

After placing Su Mu on the master bedroom bed, he noticed she had sweated a bit from packing things earlier. Fu Shinian stood by the bed, watching her for a while, then walked to the master bedroom, wrung out a towel, and gently wiped Su Mu’s body. He thought she would wake up, but she didn’t; apparently, she was extremely worn out.

Wiping Su Mu’s body was a test for him. After finishing, he left the bedroom and went straight to the balcony to smoke a cigarette. Only after two in a row did he manage to calm the restlessness in his heart. He looked at his watch—it was almost 12 o’clock—and he smiled slightly.

Su Mu had been on the go almost all day yesterday, which is why she slept so soundly that night. When she opened her eyes, it was past 7 o’clock, and she’d had an unusually dreamless night. She was still a bit sleepy, but it was almost Qiqi’s waking time, and breakfast needed to be prepared. Today, there was still a lot to sort out; there would be no rest.

As she stretched and prepared to get out of bed, Su Mu suddenly realized something was wrong. An arm was wrapped around her waist. She wanted to convince herself that it was Qiqi who had come to her room in the middle of the night, but how could a 3-year-old child have such strength? Realizing something, her heart sank, and she didn’t even have the courage to look back.

Fu Shinian had been awake for a while, simply holding Su Mu and not wanting to get up. This was a moment he had been looking forward to for more than three years, and he wished this time could be infinitely prolonged. He knew Su Mu was awake, but since she didn’t speak, neither did he, aware that the emotions awaiting him wouldn’t be pleasant ones.

Fu Shinian was prepared, but none of what he anticipated happened because, the next second, the bedroom door was pushed open, and Qiqi peeked her small head in. Seeing two people on the bed, the little one stood in the doorway with her mouth agape in surprise, unable to utter a word.

Su Mu stayed silent, hoping Qiqi would leave; Fu Shinian stayed silent for fear of Su Mu’s reaction. But Qiqi saw both of them awake and called out:

"Fu Shinian, you liar."

At that moment, Su Mu knew Fu Shinian was awake. She sat up without looking back at him and said to Qiqi, "Qiqi, go out first."

Qiqi stood at the door, looking wronged:

"Fu Shinian, you told me that if you and Su Mu slept in the same bed, I could sleep between you. You slept with Su Mu last night; you broke your word."

Fu Shinian never imagined that after sleeping with Su Mu for the night, the first one to accuse him the next day would not be Su Mu, but his daughter. Seeing Qiqi’s aggrieved face, his heart melted instantly. He got up, walked over, and held Qiqi in his arms. It wasn’t until this moment that Su Mu realized that Fu Shinian wasn’t wearing a shirt.

She closed her eyes, suppressing the anger inside her, and smiled at Qiqi:

"Qiqi, listen to me. Go out first; I have something to talk about with Fu Shinian."

Qiqi was quick-witted; a single glance was enough to tell that Su Mu’s mood was off, and she no longer felt like pestering Fu Shinian. She quietly whispered ’be careful’ in Fu Shinian’s ear before climbing down from his arms and running out, not forgetting to close the door behind her.

After Qiqi left, Fu Shinian smiled slightly and stepped toward Su Mu, only to be met with a throw pillow hurled fiercely at him. He dodged agilely and, before Su Mu could turn to find something else to throw, he had already come to her side, gripping her waist with one hand and hugging her tightly:

"Throwing those doesn’t hurt me as much as your fists."

Su Mu glared at him fiercely:

"Fu Shinian, I could kill you."

"Just for holding you while sleeping?" Fu Shinian smiled slightly. "Knowing this, I shouldn’t have let you go last night. Do you know how hard it was for me to hold back? I only fell asleep when dawn came."

Su Mu tried to leave his embrace but was held even tighter and couldn’t break free, so she pounded her fists hard against Fu Shinian’s chest. She used all her strength, causing him to wince in pain, yet he endured and didn’t let go. Eventually, Su Mu grew tired of hitting him and started to cry in his arms.

This was the first time Fu Shinian saw Su Mu cry since they reunited, and it pained him. He loosened his grasp to wipe her tears, only to be swatted away. He didn’t move again and stood there, watching as Su Mu sat on the edge of the bed. He stepped back a few paces to lean on the nearby desk, which held the cigarettes he had casually thrown there the previous night. Feeling distressed, he picked one up and smoked it.

As the scent of nicotine reached Su Mu, she looked up at Fu Shinian, who, seeing the thoughts in her eyes, smiled slightly:

"I’ve told you, you can’t smoke in my presence."
