Chapter 395: Chapter 395: Once Husband and Wife, Now Strangers
Su Mu said these words and walked to the door to open it:
"You can leave now, and please move out as soon as possible. If you don’t, QiQi and I will leave."
Fu Shinian stood up from the couch. He walked toward Su Mu step by step, and just as Su Mu thought he would leave, he suddenly closed the open door. By the time Su Mu looked up at him, he had quickly approached and pinned her against the wall beside the door.
It was their third confrontation since reuniting, and Su Mu was already feeling numb, so this time she didn’t struggle but just looked at him indifferently:
"Fu Shinian, is that all you’ve got? Besides using force on me and coercing me into doing things I dislike, what else can you do?"
"Su Mu, I didn’t want this either. I also wanted to bring you and QiQi back by normal means, but you don’t accept it. You want to live with Wen Han, and I can’t just watch that happen, nor can I accept this outcome, so I have no choice but to make a last stand. Whether you hate me or curse me, I must split you and Wen Han up."
After he finished speaking, he kissed her. Su Mu still didn’t move, just clenched her teeth tightly to keep him out. Fu Shinian initially just wanted to scare her, to let her know his determination, but gradually, he found it hard to control himself. Unintentionally, his hand raised to touch Su Mu’s chin in an attempt to force her jaw open, but at this moment, Su Mu grabbed a decorative item from the foyer cabinet and fiercely smashed it against Fu Shinian’s back.
He let out a muffled groan and released Su Mu, looking at her incredulously. After Su Mu glanced at him indifferently, she put the decoration back in its place:
"You truly disgust me."
"Disgust?" The pain in his back made Fu Shinian’s mood worsen. He looked at Su Mu: "We’ve been more intimate than this before, all the times we couldn’t let go of each other in love and desire, why didn’t you find it disgusting then?"
"Shut up." Su Mu couldn’t help shouting out, furious with Fu Shinian’s words, shaking with anger. She looked at Fu Shinian, trying to calm herself down, then glanced worriedly at QiQi’s room, relieved when she was sure that her own voice hadn’t caused QiQi to come out.
But Fu Shinian was amused by her reaction:
"What? Am I not telling the truth?"
"Yes, we were once married, but that’s all in the past. My marrying you was entirely because I mistook you for the person who saved me at the crossroads. If it weren’t for my mistake, do you think I would give you a second glance?"
"So, you mean you only liked the person who saved you at the crossroads?"
"Yes, I used to like you, but now I like Wen Han." Su Mu looked at him coldly: "I’m going to marry him, I want to marry him, and I will never come back to you in this lifetime. Give up that thought!"
"The person I, Fu Shinian, want, I have never failed to get."
Su Mu laughed coldly:
"Do you have no shame? When I was wholeheartedly devoted to you, you ignored me, and now that I can’t stand the sight of you and want you to disappear from my world forever, you want me to come back to you. What do you take me for, a pet that you’ve raised?"
"It would be better if you were a pet; would I have to put so much effort into you then?"
Su Mu was about to say more when QiQi’s room door opened from the inside, and she stood at the doorway wearing slippers, holding a stuffed bear, looking at them standing at the door uneasily. Su Mu only had to look at her to feel heartbroken because she knew all too well that QiQi only clung to that bear when she felt insecure.
Su Mu quickly walked over and picked up QiQi:
"Why did you come out?"
QiQi hugged Su Mu’s neck, her voice soft:
"MuMu, don’t argue. QiQi will listen to you from now on."
Fu Shinian watched this scene silently sighing. He perhaps shouldn’t stay any longer; after all, in QiQi’s heart, Su Mu’s position was significantly more important. If he and Su Mu continued to have unpleasant disputes, his relationship with QiQi might revert to square one.
His back was scorching with pain, but Fu Shinian had no time to care for it. He turned and walked toward the door, but at that moment, QiQi called out his name in alarm:
"Fu Shinian."
Her voice startled Su Mu, but before she could react, QiQi jumped out of her arms and ran to Fu Shinian:
"Your back is bleeding."
Fu Shinian smiled slightly at her words: "It’s nothing. I’ll handle it myself when I get back; it’s just a minor injury."
"But it’s on your back; how can you see to it yourself?"
After saying that, QiQi looked back at Su Mu:
"MuMu, how did Fu Shinian get hurt? There was nothing wrong when I brought him over just now, right?"
Su Mu truly didn’t know how to answer QiQi’s question. In that awkward moment, Fu Shinian said softly, "I accidentally hit that decoration at the foyer."
QiQi looked at the sharp, metal decoration on the cabinet, then looked at Su Mu, ultimately not saying anything more, just looking at Fu Shinian worriedly:
"Do you have a first aid kit at home? Or maybe I should go help you with it?"
She probably knew that Su Mu didn’t like Fu Shinian, so from start to finish, she didn’t suggest that Su Mu help him with his wound. But she was just a 3-year-old child; how could she handle such a task? Fu Shinian might not know it, but Su Mu was clear: QiQi’s words were meant for her ears.
Su Mu indeed wasn’t mistaken. Now QiQi was becoming more and more adept at saying one thing while implying another.
Sighing softly, Su Mu conceded:
"Come over here, and I’ll take care of it."
Su Mu might be ruthless, but the injury on Fu Shinian’s body was, after all, inflicted by her hands, and he had just arrived; given his personality, he wasn’t likely to go to a hospital for treatment. If the wound were to get infected, he would have a new reason to pester her, and Su Mu wanted to avoid that scenario, so she compromised.
Fu Shinian, upon hearing this, looked at Su Mu, not speaking or moving. Eventually, it was QiQi who took his hand and pulled him to sit down in the living room, even fetchingly running to the bedroom to get the first aid kit.
Su Mu took the first aid kit from QiQi’s hand and gave her a deep look. QiQi seemed to understand what she wanted to say but shifted her gaze away in a second, not looking at her anymore. Instead, she ran over to Fu Shinian’s side and sat down, expressing her care with tender questions:
"Fu Shinian, does it hurt? There’s blood all over your clothes."
Fu Shinian smiled slightly:
"It doesn’t hurt."
"Really? But when QiQi’s finger gets cut, it really hurts."
"When did that happen?"
