Chapter 36 Unintended
Chapter 36: Chapter 36 Unintended
"Does my touch really disgust you that much?"
Fu Shinian stood at the bathroom doorway, his face cold, looking at Su Mu who seemed ready to vomit out her entire stomach.
Su Mu wanted to explain something, but before she could speak, a wave of nausea surged again, and she involuntarily began to vomit uncontrollably, while Fu Shinian turned away and left.
If today had been a day driven by a fleeting desire, the ordeal would have extinguished even the most ardent flames of passion, but tonight was different. Fu Shinian had been drugged by Su Shiyue, and even though Su Mu dampened his mood, the medication was still taking effect inside his body.
After dressing, Fu Shinian made a call to Qiao Yu as he stepped out of the master bedroom:
"Wait for me at the hospital!"
As he hung up and began walking downstairs, he suddenly noticed the purse Su Mu had accidentally dropped. He had no inclination to bother with it, but when he caught sight of a napkin with a name written on it, he couldn’t help but squat down and pick it up.
Wen Han
Fu Shinian recognized the name—the only son of the Wen Family, currently a regimental commander at a military district, a widower from an early age with one son.
Was Su Mu with him tonight? How did they know each other?
In the hospital, Qiao Yu was on duty that night. Fortunately, there weren’t any patients in need of immediate attention. He was just about to head to the rest area for a nap when Fu Shinian’s call disrupted his plans. Reluctantly staying in his office to wait, he had thought it was Su Mu who got injured again, but unexpectedly, Fu Shinian alone walked in.
Seeing the look on his face and the way he used his coat to conceal certain areas, Qiao Yu knew what was going on, and couldn’t help but take delight in Fu Shinian’s misfortune, bursting out laughing:
"How many times has this happened? Does everyone think you have a dysfunction that requires medication for stimulation?"
Fu Shinian looked at him coldly:
"If you think your life has been too comfortable lately, feel free to keep laughing."
The next second, Qiao Yu suppressed his laughter, though it was challenging, and offered advice:
"You didn’t need to come to me, why not go straight home to Su Mu? Having to get your stomach pumped and be put on a drip, that’s quite uncomfortable."
Qiao Yu had thought his suggestion quite reasonable and highly feasible, but after hearing it, Fu Shinian’s face grew even darker, leading Qiao Yu to make a guess:
"Could it be that Su Mu has refused to sleep with you?"
Seeing Fu Shinian’s face turn even blacker, Qiao Yu knew his guess was correct, and internally he gave Su Mu a silent thumbs up. Daring to refuse Fu Shinian’s advances wasn’t something just anyone could do. He felt like laughing, very much so, and was about to lose control.
"Although I may not be in the best of health at the moment, I still have enough strength to punch you, so consider whether you want to keep laughing."
Qiao Yu controlled himself once again, staring at Fu Shinian seriously:
"I’ll take you to the treatment room now."
Half an hour later, back in Qiao Yu’s office with Fu Shinian sitting in a chair with his eyes closed, receiving an IV drip, Qiao Yu handed him a cup of hot water:
"Drink more water, it’s good for boosting your metabolism."
Fu Shinian took it but didn’t drink, quietly watching the time on the wall before speaking:
"Why would a woman feel such an aversion to a man’s touch that it makes her want to vomit?"
Qiao Yu perked up at the question; this was about Fu Shinian himself. He was being rejected by Su Mu, to the point of nausea at his touch? Wow, this was enough to make him laugh for a lifetime! But he couldn’t afford to laugh, for if he did, Fu Shinian might not continue to share the details.
He couldn’t miss out on this juicy bit, so the next second Qiao Yu summoned all his patience to appear very serious and concerned:
"Because the man is ugly?"
Fu Shinian looked at Qiao Yu speechlessly, clearly not in the mood to entertain him, until Qiao Yu finally got serious, sitting beside him and looking at him cautiously:
"Is Su Mu repulsed by you?"
Though Fu Shinian seemed reluctant, he did not deny Qiao Yu’s words.
Qiao Yu felt a secret thrill and continued, "Since when?"
"Since the last time you saw us."
Qiao Yu remembered—it was on the safety staircase, and afterward, he had mentioned it to Fu Shinian, suggesting that he should respect Su Mu’s perspective. However, Fu Shinian ignored him, and now it seemed the consequences had come back to him.
"Didn’t I tell you to respect her? With the way you approached her, no woman would accept that." He paused: "Except for prostitutes."
Fu Shinian was silent, as if unsure how to respond, and Qiao Yu, sensing his dilemma, took the initiative to speak:
"Judging by your expression, this isn’t the first time, is it?"
Fu Shinian shifted his posture slightly and responded softly,
"Since we got married, she never really warmed up to intimacy."
Qiao Yu fell silent for a few seconds, then, with a look of disbelief, he turned to Fu Shinian. "If I may be so bold, you didn’t force Su Mu from the first time, did you?"
Qiao Yu’s words dragged Fu Shinian’s thoughts back to a distant time two years ago. He remembered it was a gloomy day; they had just left the Civil Affairs Bureau. He went to the hospital, while she went home. When he returned from visiting his grandmother in the hospital that evening, there was a pink suitcase in the master bedroom, and the sound of running water echoed from the bathroom.
Perhaps out of anger, or maybe because his grandmother’s illness had been weighing on him for too long, the moment Su Mu stepped out of the bathroom, he threw her onto the bed and climbed on top of her.
Without foreplay, without passion, and without consideration for her feelings, he just took her, with a sense of venting.
Now that he thought about it, she seemed to have bitten her lips to the point of bleeding from trying to hold back, but the Fu Shinian back then wouldn’t have cared.
In the days that followed, whenever he had the need, he would seek Su Mu to satisfy it. Because there was no affection, he rarely took her feelings into account, if ever at all.
Fu Shinian looked up at Qiao Yu, expecting a counterargument, but instead he found Qiao Yu’s gaze so calm it couldn’t have been calmer. Having known him for many years, Qiao Yu understood what that meant and glanced at the ceiling in resignation,
"If I were a woman, I might have been unable to tolerate this long ago, let alone Su Mu who has endured you for two years."
Fu Shinian frowned.
"Women are emotional creatures who appreciate atmosphere. You acting on your own whims, to put it bluntly, what’s the difference between that and sleeping with a sex doll? Perhaps Su Mu even thinks that you never saw her as a wife, but rather a tool for you to vent at will."
Su Mu had indeed said as much.
"Sex should be a beautiful thing, but you’ve put unprecedented pressure on Su Mu in such a beautiful act. No one is born frigid; it’s only because she had a bad experience the first time or countless times that she developed fear and aversion. She was probably already scared of you, and what you did last time in the emergency stairwell was the last straw that broke her psychological defenses."
Fu Shinian turned to Qiao Yu, "I remember you took some psychology courses in college, right?"
"So what if I did?" Qiao Yu reached the pinnacle of speechlessness, "You’re not suggesting I give Su Mu psychological therapy, are you?"
Fu Shinian didn’t deny it, and Qiao Yu got up from his seat, trying to calm himself. After a while, he couldn’t help but burst out,
"You manage the vast Fu Corporation and resolve any kind of situation. How can you be so clueless when it comes to love? ... don’t look at me like that, you’re an idiot. Is it Su Mu who should be getting psychological therapy? Shouldn’t it be you who takes a good look at yourself?"
"Me?" Fu Shinian scoffed lightly, "What problem do I have?"
This arrogant demeanor made Qiao Yu want to kick him, but thinking of the consequences, he held back and put it to him bluntly,
"Do you actually have a tendency towards violence... to be more direct, do you enjoy being rough during sex?"
"...I don’t!" Fu Shinian’s expression soured.
"If not, then why can’t you be more gentle? Making love is not like going to war, why be so serious? If you give Su Mu some foreplay, show her more tenderness, would she still reject you?"
Fu Shinian fell silent, apparently considering the feasibility of this suggestion seriously. Qiao Yu finally felt a sense of relief, snatched the water cup from Fu Shinian’s hand, tilted his head back, and finished it off. Then he suddenly had another thought and looked at Fu Shinian,
"If Su Mu is repulsed by you, why don’t you turn to Qin Nianwan? She would probably be more than willing to help you out, right?"
Fu Shinian frowned, "I have no intention of cheating."
—
Fu Shinian didn’t come home all night, and Su Mu didn’t sleep either. She retreated to the corner of the sofa in the guest room, her mind filled with regret as she thought about everything that happened. She hadn’t looked back at Fu Shinian’s expression, but she could imagine it was extremely dark.
She didn’t expect to have such a serious problem and regretted not seeking a psychologist earlier to resolve it. However, it was probably too late for regrets now. Her actions last night had likely deeply wounded his pride, and she wondered how he would see her now.
She vaguely remembered falling asleep but was awakened by the sound of her phone ringing. She reached for her phone, saw Wei Shaoqin’s name, and turned it off; there was nothing left to say between them.
What Su Mu didn’t expect was that a few hours later, the moment she turned on her phone, Wei Shaoqin’s call came in again. She couldn’t help but wonder if he’d been calling non-stop while she was asleep. His patience was so good it was maddening.
After blocking his number, and he called from a different one, Su Mu reached her limit. She pressed the answer button,
"What do you really want?"
"What’s the matter? Climbing up the big tree of Fu Shinian, do you now feel too superior even to answer my calls?"
"If you continue not to speak like a human, I have no need to waste more time with you."
"I’m waiting for you at the Starbucks under the company’s building."
"I don’t have time."
Wei Shaoqin didn’t seem annoyed, chuckled lightly and said, "No problem, if you don’t have time, I can just have someone check your address. If that doesn’t work, I can also go to Fu Corporation to find you. I’ll persist until I see you!"
