Chapter 262 Terrible Excuse
Chapter 262: Chapter 262 Terrible Excuse
The light outside the car was too dim, and Su Mu could only make out so much by the light from within. She looked at Fu Shinian curiously:
"What place is this?"
Fu Shinian chuckled softly:
"Shall we get out and take a walk?"
Su Mu didn’t refuse, "Okay."
Fu Shinian got out of the car, walked around to Su Mu’s side to open the door for her, and extended his hand to take hers. He carefully helped her out of the car and then wrapped her coat around her more snugly, "Are you cold?"
"Not really."
"Let’s walk quickly."
After walking two steps with Fu Shinian, Su Mu realized that the so-called Gui Ning Residence was more than just a rock; it was merely a sign standing in front of the massive entrance, marking the spot as a manor.
Having never been here yet knowing it lay beside mountains and near water, a place of scenic beauty, she was unaware that there was a manor here. Suddenly, she remembered rumors from three years ago, saying that Fu Shinian had spent a fortune to build a private estate. Since it concerned Fu Shinian, she had paid attention to it back then, stirring quite a commotion. After its completion, once the media exposed it, it had created buzz throughout the city, even Feng Shui masters had appraised and confirmed it as a land of geomantic treasure.
Two years into their marriage, Su Mu had long forgotten about this matter, only to find herself unexpectedly brought here by him one day.
Fu Shinian pulled a remote control from his coat pocket and handed it to Su Mu:
"Open it and see."
Lowering her eyes, Su Mu glanced at it, anticipating a surprise. However, when she pressed the switch and the gate slowly opened before her, and as the lights linking into a sea of lamps turned on, she was still taken aback. Even if it was just a manor, and even if its location here didn’t imply an exaggerated land area, the moment the lights came on, she couldn’t see the boundaries at a glance, beholding only the uniquely exquisite scenery within the estate.
Despite it being winter, the beauty before her nonetheless made Su Mu involuntarily admire the view.
She turned back to look at Fu Shinian:
"Did you build this?"
"Yeah," Fu Shinian nodded with a smile, "Do you like it?"
Su Mu stared into Fu Shinian’s eyes, somewhat startled. If she had not misunderstood his words, then he meant for them to live here together.
Fu Shinian took her hand: "Let’s go inside and have a look."
Despite being wrapped in cashmere, the cold of the Lunar New Year’s evening pierced through, as beneath her coat she wore only a thin evening dress. After walking a few steps, she began to shiver from the cold. Fu Shinian was about to remove his own coat, but Su Mu stopped him:
"You’ve just recovered from a cold; you can’t catch another."
Insisting on this, Fu Shinian found himself out of options and reluctantly called the driver to bring the car into the estate:
"We’ll drive in."
Su Mu stood still, clearly wanting to walk and take a proper look at this fabled mysterious estate. Fu Shinian, seeing this, couldn’t help but chuckle:
"The house isn’t going anywhere. What are you hesitating for? Besides, it’s nighttime now, and the scenery you can see is inevitably less impressive. Why not come back tomorrow for a full view?"
Su Mu knew that if she insisted on not getting into the car, then Fu Shinian’s coat would definitely end up on her. This was something she didn’t want to see happen, so in the end, she compromised and got into the car.
She knew the estate was large, but she never imagined that it would take ten minutes by car just to reach the main house. She couldn’t help but glance at Fu Shinian beside her, thinking that one could never truly imagine the life of the wealthy.
The car stopped beside the fountain in front of the main building, and the two of them got out. Surveying the opulent structure before her, reminiscent of an English castle, Su Mu was inevitably astonished all over again.
Fu Shinian took her hand:
"I decided on the furnishings inside the house, and I hope you’ll like them too."
Inside, Fu Shinian pressed a switch, revealing the living room in full view to Su Mu. She felt that she couldn’t find any words to describe it and could only let Fu Shinian lead her by the hand, step by step, looking around as if in a dream.
Fu Shinian led her to sit down in the living room and smiled at her:
"Do you still like it?"
This was the second time he had asked her this today, which made Su Mu think too much and finally ask:
"What do you mean by that question?"
"Our shared home should naturally consider the lady of the house’s opinion." Fu Shinian sat down beside her: "When Gui Ning Residence was being built, my original plan was to live here with grandma and the person I could spend my life with. Home is where the heart finds peace upon return, and the reason I haven’t brought you here before was because I misunderstood you."
He looked at her:
"This is the truth, and it might make you a little unhappy."
Su Mu shook her head: "It won’t."
"Now that I have chosen you, I want to move in here with you after the lunar new year, along with grandma. What do you think?"
"Does grandma agree?" The old house was where she had lived her whole life, and all her memories with grandpa were made there. Su Mu didn’t think the old lady would leave that place.
"I’ve already discussed it with her, and she agrees to move over. After all, once we have children, she’ll need to help take care of them. Moving back and forth would be quite inconvenient."
Su Mu was slightly stunned, looking at Fu Shinian, who raised his hand in acknowledgment of his mistake:
"I spoke out of turn. The current Su Mu has yet to forgive me and has not agreed to continue our life together, so we should think long-term about children. It was just a hypothetical scenario; you can also take it as an excuse I made for grandma to move in and live with us."
Su Mu stood up and walked upstairs:
"What a terrible excuse."
Fu Shinian smiled as he stood and followed her from behind.
There were many rooms on the second floor, but most were guest rooms, aside from the master bedroom and two exaggeratedly large children’s rooms, the others were quite ordinary. Standing outside the children’s room, Fu Shinian looked at Su Mu’s slightly red face and said softly:
"If it’s a daughter, she can stay in this room, if it’s a son, he can stay in the next one. We should have two so they won’t be lonely when we are old and can take care of each other."
Su Mu turned and walked toward the third floor:
"You’ve said the wrong thing again."
Fu Shinian just smiled and didn’t retort because he had eyes to see. Su Mu’s reaction was just shyness, not disgust. Had he known the effect Gui Ning Residence would have on Su Mu, he should have brought her here on the day he confessed. Perhaps their relationship would have already returned to normal.
Compared to the second floor, the third floor was much more colorful, with a gym, home theater, study room, children’s playground, and a room that left Su Mu somewhat puzzled. She turned back to Fu Shinian:
"What is this room for?"
Fu Shinian smiled slightly:
"Your photography studio. I didn’t know what style you wanted, so I left it empty for you to design, and you can do it entirely to your liking."
