Chapter 198: Chapter 198 I Really Want to Strangle You to Death

Once, Su Mu thought that describing such a scene to Fu Shinian would be difficult, that she wouldn’t be able to speak, and that it would require great courage. But when the moment came when she had to speak, she found everything was not as hard as she had imagined, and she could even describe the details.

Perhaps it wasn’t because she didn’t care, nor because it didn’t matter to her, but because she saw disbelief in Fu Shinian’s eyes.

Upon hearing her, Fu Shinian turned around, his gaze so cold it could freeze everything:

"Not wearing any clothes, sleeping with a man all night, Mrs. Fu, how do you think I should interpret this statement?"

"I was set up."

Of course, she was set up. Fu Shinian knew this the moment he saw the photo, because neither Su Mu nor Wen Han were that foolish to let their secret affair be exposed this way by a photo. But what about it? Fu Shinian didn’t really care about the incident itself; he looked at her and said, word by word:

"Did you have relations with him?"

That kind of photo, ten people would say they had relations, but Fu Shinian wanted her to tell him herself.

His grim and stern demeanor was clearly one of disbelief, yet he wanted Su Mu to say it herself. Su Mu looked at him:

"If I say it, will you believe me?"

After those words, the room returned to silence. In an atmosphere where you could hear a pin drop, Su Mu hesitated for a long time, but eventually, she took steps towards Fu Shinian. She wanted to gamble, to bet that Fu Shinian would believe her.

Fu Shinian watched her approach step by step without stopping her, but when Su Mu stood in front of him and reached out to hold his hand, he almost reflexively flung her away as if touched by something filthy:

"Don’t touch me."

Su Mu’s hand froze mid-air, her fingers trembling slightly, her nose tingling, her eyes burning hot.

Fu Shinian turned away from Su Mu:

"You wanted me to believe in your feelings for me, and I believed you. Then you struck me with this, showing me just how foolish my decision was."

Su Mu froze in place, unable to move, while his voice followed:

"Get out, I don’t want to see you anymore."

"I don’t want to see you anymore." It took Su Mu a long time to realize the deeper meaning behind those words. She should have been calm, because she understood Fu Shinian, and had anticipated this outcome, but she hadn’t. In that moment, she seemed to forget the disgust and hatred in Fu Shinian’s eyes, and she turned his body to face her:

"What do you mean by that?"

"What do I mean?"

Fu Shinian sneered in response, stepped back to avoid her touch, then quickly walked to the desk, opened the leftmost drawer, took out a stack of things, turned around, and fiercely threw them at Su Mu. Those fluttering items like falling leaves, spiraled down to settle at Su Mu’s feet.

Su Mu only needed to lower her gaze to see what they were. Driven by some emotion, she actually crouched down and picked up one of them. Five days had passed since the incident, and she had never had the courage to recall what exactly happened that day, yet now Fu Shinian restored it all before her eyes.

She would have been better off not picking it up, her action of picking up the photo drove Fu Shinian to nearly lose his sanity:

"The night you spent with Wen Han truly came at an exorbitant price, two hundred million. I spent two hundred million to buy back a photo of my own wife with another man in bed. Mrs. Fu, do you know how I feel?"

As Su Mu held the photo, on hearing this she dropped it as if it were a hot potato. When the photo fell back to the ground by her feet, Fu Shinian had already quickly approached, and he grabbed Su Mu’s throat, pressing her harshly against the window behind her.

His hand tightened slowly, and Su Mu saw the full hatred in his eyes. The words he spoke struck directly at Su Mu’s heart:

"I truly want to strangle you to death right now!"

Su Mu should have been terrified by such a Fu Shinian, yet she laughed instead. As she laughed, tears fell from her eyes. She thought she would say something, but she never made another sound.

For a moment, Fu Shinian really wanted to end Su Mu’s life, thinking that perhaps all his troubles would disappear with her death. His grip tightened gradually. If it hadn’t been for Su Mu’s tears, perhaps he really would have done it.

But ultimately, reason returned at the last moment. As Su Mu felt the air growing thinner, he released her. Su Mu fell to the ground, but Fu Shinian turned and walked towards the door without a second glance at her, hesitating only for a moment as he opened the study door:

"Go back to Bishui Yuntian and stay there. Without my permission, don’t ever come back to the old house."

Fu Shinian left. Su Mu, however, collapsed and laughed, feeling it was much better than she had expected. After all, she thought he would suggest divorce, and even though nothing had truly happened between her and Wen Han, she had still crossed a line in the eyes of Fu Shinian, who greatly values marital fidelity.

But Su Mu didn’t understand why he hadn’t mentioned divorce.

Was it because of his grandmother, or perhaps the timing wasn’t right?

Worried that his grandmother would see the photos, Su Mu gathered them all up before she left the study, each one striking her like a harsh punishment, fiercely whipping her shame and vulnerability.

This was a wound, one without the possibility of healing. Yet reality didn’t give Su Mu much time to dwell in despair, as not long after she left the old house, she received a frantic call from Qiao Yu:

"Su Mu, today Rong Shen was released. Once Jiang Bei heard the news, she went straight to find Rong Shen."

"What?" Su Mu couldn’t believe what she heard: "Did she go on her own? What about Ji Nanfeng?"

"Nanfeng is heading there now, but I’m worried that things could worsen if they meet. Where are you now? I’ll come to pick you up, and we can go together. Jiang Bei will at least listen to you."

Su Mu immediately rejected Qiao Yu’s suggestion:

"Just send me the address, I’ll go there directly. Going back and forth takes too much time."

"Alright, I’ll send you the address."

After getting the address from Qiao Yu, Su Mu hailed a cab and told the driver to head directly to the destination. She spent the entire ride trying to phone Jiang Bei, but all calls went unanswered, and her palms were sweaty with anxiety.

She even dreaded to think about the situation Jiang Bei might be facing right now.

Fortunately, the place they were at wasn’t very secluded. Within half an hour, Su Mu arrived at the Shengyan Club. This wasn’t her first time here; she had been brought here before when Wei Shaoqin targeted her teashop.
