Chapter 169: Chapter 169: He Doesn’t Believe in Coincidences

Wouldn’t any girl collapse upon seeing such a scene? Qin Nianwan was a woman after all, skilled at deceiving and pretending, yet she still had her bottom line.

Seeing such a promiscuous side of herself, she couldn’t accept not only that she had slept with a disgusting man, but also that this side of her was being watched by two men.

She didn’t care about much else and rushed over to unplug the TV. The moment the pounding of her heart ceased with the sound from the room, Qin Nianwan felt as if all her strength had been drained, and she fell to the ground. Yet she refused to lower her head, tearfully glaring at Wei Shaoqin:

"What exactly do you want?"

"I don’t want anything specific. This material is safe in my hands. Rest assured, I won’t give it to anyone. But such a guarantee is only if you obey. If one day you do something to displease me, I assure that the entire nation will see your wonderful performance."

Wei Shaoqin crouched in front of her, looking her in the eye, and gave a soft smile:

"You wouldn’t want that scenario to happen, would you?"

"Wei Shaoqin, even if it’s for Su Mu, what have I done to her? I haven’t done anything to her, and yet you treat me this way? If you really care about her so much, why don’t you keep her by your side and protect her? Letting her become someone else’s wife, does that make you feel good?"

Wei Shaoqin licked his lips:

"Qin Nianwan, until I met you yesterday, I hadn’t planned on dealing with you. You gave me an unavoidable reason. Even if what you said is right, you haven’t done anything to Su Mu yet, but you already have the intention, otherwise, you wouldn’t have come to cooperate with me. To me, that’s reason enough to deal with you. Shouldn’t I stop you before you take action rather than after you hurt Su Mu? I’m not that foolish."

After saying this, he stood up with a slight smile:

"I know your skirmish last night with President Li was intense, so I specially brought you some clothes. Isn’t that thoughtful? No need to thank me, after all, you’ve also given me a lavish gift. Remember well what I’ve said today, if you behave yourself, no fourth person will know what happened in this room. If you entertain any inappropriate thoughts again, I certainly won’t let you off so easily."

Wei Shaoqin left, and Qin Nianwan tightly clenched the bedding in her hands, her strength so great that her knuckles turned pale. Yet this could not relieve the frustration in her heart. She didn’t understand; she hated; she wanted to vent, but she was out of options. The fact was set, and no matter how, last night’s events couldn’t be erased from her life.

It was like those past memories she always wanted to erase, which eventually only became her own brand.

----

When Su Shiyue arrived at the hospital, the grandmother had already been transferred to the VVIP room on the top floor. Both Su Mu and Fu Shinian were there. Without even greeting, she quickly approached the old lady’s bedside. Seeing the still unconscious grandmother, she anxiously called out a few times, but the result was still the same, completely unresponsive.

Su Shiyue’s eyes reddened with urgency, and she turned to look at Fu Shinian, who had been sitting on the couch:

"Brother, what’s wrong with Grandmother? Why is she like this? What did the doctors say?"

Su Shiyue’s urgency was palpable, but Fu Shinian did not immediately respond to her. His gaze gradually moved from her and settled on Su Mu’s face:

"You’re tired. Why not rest a bit in the adjacent room."

Su Mu did not refuse. She stood up from the chair beside the bed, for she could see that there was something Fu Shinian and Su Shiyue needed to discuss. She was neither aware of the content nor curious about it.

After Su Mu left, Su Shiyue’s tension increased. She felt certain that something must have happened to Grandma, which was why Fu Shinian had specifically sent Su Mu away. She watched him, unblinking:

"Brother, is it that Grandmother..."

"Grandma is fine," Fu Shinian interrupted her, "You can rest assured."

"Then why is Grandma in an unresponsive coma?"

Fu Shinian was silent for a few seconds before he spoke again, completely changing his tone. He looked at Su Shiyue and smiled as he spoke, "Why do you think Grandma is like this? Don’t you know?"

Su Shiyue looked at Fu Shinian in disbelief:

"Brother, what do you mean by that? Do you think it’s because of me that Grandma turned out this way? That I wanted to harm her?"

"The old lady has always been healthy and has never had such issues, but suddenly this happened after you came back. Do you expect me to believe it’s a coincidence?"

"Brother!" Su Shiyue shouted, her voice urgent, angry, and full of grievance, "How could you think that of me? Why would I harm Grandma, she’s my family. She raised me since I was a child. I don’t even have enough time to love her and cherish her, why would I do such a thing? What would I gain from it?"

Fu Shinian looked at her, silent, not saying a word.

But Su Shiyue knew him; his silence stemmed from disbelief.

Not sure if it was disappointment or ridicule, Su Shiyue self-mockingly said:

"So, this is how you see me in your heart? I thought even if you found me arrogant, unreasonable, and reckless, you still believed in my character. But you actually think I could hurt Grandma? Do I have a reason to do that? Right now, Grandma is the only one in this house who treats me well. You never considered me part of the family. Harming Grandma would only lead to my permanent expulsion from the Fu family. If you wanted me gone, you wouldn’t need to resort to this!"

"You say it was only after I returned that Grandma became like this? But I wasn’t the only one who came back yesterday; Su Mu also returned yesterday. I heard you two have been arguing these past few days, even living separately for a while. How can you be so sure it wasn’t Su Mu’s doing? Don’t forget, she has a doctor friend too!"

"Wasn’t it you?" Fu Shinian looked at Su Shiyue, speaking faintly.

Su Shiyue walked a few steps towards Fu Shinian, seriously saying:

"Brother, how could you think that of me? Did that woman Su Mu say something to you? Would Grandma be happy if she woke up and knew you were thinking this about me?"

This time Su Shiyue came back, Fu Shinian had felt she had changed, but the words she just spoke made him feel she was still the same person. Yet, he didn’t believe in baseless coincidences, yet as Su Shiyue said, she had no motive to hurt the old lady—it was an act completely without any benefit to her.

Fu Shinian smiled faintly:

"I’m just worried about Grandma, don’t take it to heart."

Su Shiyue sat down next to Fu Shinian:

"Do you believe me now?"

Fu Shinian nodded faintly, "Harming Grandma wouldn’t benefit you."

Su Shiyue’s eyes inexplicably reddened; she never knew being misunderstood could be such a grievous matter.
