Chapter 164 You Little Ungrateful Wretch
Chapter 164: Chapter 164 You Little Ungrateful Wretch
"Not good at all," Su Mu looked at him, "I don’t need to elaborate on what kind of person you are. Xiaobei is different from those girlfriends of yours before. You and she are simply not suitable for each other, so please stop harassing her."
"What kind of person am I?" Ji Nanfeng slightly raised an eyebrow, "Sometimes even I am not clear about myself, and you claim to know?"
After finishing these words, Ji Nanfeng left, giving Su Mu no chance to retort.
When Su Mu returned to the living room, Fu Shinian was still standing there, seemingly waiting for her. Su Mu’s gaze lightly swept over him, and she turned to walk towards the old lady’s room. Seeing this, Fu Shinian didn’t say anything and went upstairs on his own.
After chatting with her grandmother for a while, Su Mu noticed that the old lady’s mental state really wasn’t good and it wasn’t an act. She seemed listless, and it took the old lady several moments to respond to a single sentence from Su Mu. Thinking that her grandmother might be tired, Su Mu didn’t stay any longer.
The idea of staying to keep her grandmother company was hard to express, fearing it would worry her.
Su Mu wanted to rest in the guest room, but upon arrival, she discovered there were no blankets, and the room looked like it had not been cleaned for a long time, with a visible layer of dust. As she stepped out of the guest room, she happened to see Su Shiyue holding a cup of water, about to go downstairs.
Upon seeing Su Mu emerge from the guest room, Su Shiyue had no look of surprise:
"It was you who hit my brother’s face, wasn’t it?"
Su Mu looked at her without speaking.
"And here I thought you loved my brother so much. Turns out you’re someone who resorts to hitting too."
"Does it concern you?"
"He is my brother; what do you think?"
"Even if Fu Shinian is your brother, he and I are husband and wife. Do you think you have the right to interfere in matters between us, or do you believe you are qualified?"
If it were in the past, Su Shiyue would certainly have argued with Su Mu. But now she only offered a light laugh and continued downstairs, leaving behind a flippant remark:
"Consider me unqualified then, I can’t be bothered to care."
Su Mu watched Su Shiyue’s departing figure thoughtfully, always feeling that she didn’t come back with good intentions this time.
When Su Mu returned to the master bedroom, Fu Shinian had already taken a shower and, uncharacteristically, was not lying on the bed. Instead, he was sitting on the sofa, looking at his computer. Su Mu walked in, casually shut the door, and headed straight to the walk-in closet.
After her shower, Fu Shinian was still seated in his original spot, focused on something on his screen. Su Mu didn’t want to disturb him, nor did she want to talk to him about anything, so she directly moved a new set of bedding from the closet to the sofa. Fu Shinian finally looked up at her.
But Su Mu did not glance at Fu Shinian, returning to the bed and lying down.
Her actions made a clear statement: tonight, Fu Shinian was to sleep on the sofa, not allowed on the bed.
She lay down with her back to him, curling up her small body. Her seaweed-like hair spread behind her, shining black under the light. Fu Shinian took off his glasses, closed the computer, and then noticed that the figure on the bed had tensed up noticeably.
He had thought she wasn’t afraid, but it seemed she still had worries.
This movement made Fu Shinian’s lips curl slightly as he stepped toward the edge of the bed.
Being next to a ticking time bomb, it was impossible for Su Mu to fall asleep. Every sense was focused on the person behind her, especially upon hearing his footsteps. Although it was winter and carpet covered the room floor, Su Mu could still clearly hear each step, as if they were treading on the very tips of her heart.
At the moment when a shadow loomed over her, Su Mu’s eyes flew open, and she switched to a defensive posture, prepared to counter any of Fu Shinian’s moves. He loomed over her from above, his posture enveloping her as he leaned in beside the bed.
"How many times have you refused me? And how many times have you succeeded?"
"You can try this time."
Su Mu’s face carried a clear look of resignation, as if should Fu Shinian really do something to her tonight, she would truly fight him to the death. Fu Shinian found it amusing, his lips curving into a light smirk as he slowly pressed down. Just as Su Mu raised her hand, preparing to slap him, he easily pinned her wrist down:
"Is that all you’ve got?"
As Su Mu was preparing to retaliate again, the unoccupied hand of Fu Shinian suddenly reached over her body, took the pillow beside her, and then sat up straight:
"Just sleep properly, I’m not interested in doing anything to you tonight."
Having said that, Fu Shinian turned and went back to the sofa. He threw the pillow onto it carelessly and lay down under the blanket. This series of actions left Su Mu somewhat dumbfounded. Today it seemed as though the Fu siblings were both playing a different game than usual.
It wasn’t that Su Mu wanted him to do anything, but these actions, so out of the ordinary, felt all the more sinister and made it seem like he was brewing some big plot.
Noticing Su Mu’s gaze, Fu Shinian, who had originally closed his eyes, lazily looked over:
"What? Disappointed?"
Su Mu withdrew her gaze and stretched out her hand to turn off the light, when the phone suddenly rang. She picked it up to see that it was from Wei Shaoqin.
Without considering Fu Shinian, she answered the call. Before she could even begin to speak, Wei Shaoqin’s roar came through:
"Su Mu, you heartless thing, what did you promise me when I dropped you off today? You said you would come back. You said you wouldn’t go back to that bastard Fu Shinian. But what about now? Have you made up with Fu Shinian again? You’re not coming back, are you? Have you any idea how much I trusted you? You’ve disappointed me so much..."
Su Mu was silent for a few seconds:
"Have you been drinking?"
"I haven’t had a drop. If I’d been drinking, I’d have gone straight to that old house to take you back. I’ve already snatched you away from Bishui Yuntian once; I don’t mind doing it a second time..."
Su Mu felt somewhat apologetic, but her apologetic tone outweighed her remorse as she replied:
"Wei Shaoqin, I’m sorry, but my grandmother is sick, and I really can’t leave. I’ll come back once my grandmother has recovered."
No sooner had Su Mu finished speaking, she caught a glimpse from the corner of her eye of Fu Shinian, who had supposedly laid down, rise again. Almost by reflex, Su Mu sat up from the bed, watching warily as he stepped closer to her.
But he only stood at the foot of the bed, looking at her quietly. In Su Mu’s eyes, however, he seemed like a leopard lying in wait, ready to burst out at any moment.
Wei Shaoqin was still saying something on the other end of the phone, but Su Mu could no longer hear him, because the next second, Fu Shinian suddenly seized her ankle, and with his knuckles, pressed hard into the center of her foot. Su Mu was caught off guard:
"What are you doing...ah..."
Wei Shaoqin, who had just begun to calm down a bit, upon hearing such an ambiguous moan, exploded like a volcano set ablaze, not caring whether Fu Shinian on the other end of the phone could hear him or not, shouted:
"Fu Shinian, what are you going to do to Su Mu? I am warning you, if you dare do anything to her, I..."
Fu Shinian snatched the phone from Su Mu’s hand, placing it to his ear:
"Wei, Su Mu is my wife, you say what am I going to do to her?"
