Chapter 151 Hospitalization
Chapter 151: Chapter 151 Hospitalization
Song Yi was genuinely concerned that their boss couldn’t handle the strain on his body, especially since he had recently started to accept all social engagements and no longer needed Song Yi to fend off the drinks on his behalf. Song Yi couldn’t help but sigh inwardly, praying for these days to pass quickly.
Standing in front of the office desk, Song Yi spoke softly:
"Mr. Fu."
Fu Shinian responded lightly, "What is it?"
"About the matter you asked me to investigate, I’ve found some information."
Fu Shinian’s rapid writing came to an abrupt halt without warning. He always had an excellent memory. Although there were numerous things he had asked Song Yi to look into over the past few days—all of which had been resolved—there was one issue Song Yi had not yet reported back on. He hadn’t pressed for an update, not because he didn’t want to, but because he was restraining himself.
Hearing Song Yi say this, he fell silent for a few seconds:
"Go on."
"Madam initially left in Wei Shaoqin’s car, but the surveillance footage along the way has all been erased. I checked all the properties under Wei Shaoqin’s name, and there was no sign of anyone. The properties under his parents’ names were also quiet. I had someone tail Wei Shaoqin and discovered that he has been frequenting a forest in the Eastern Suburbs lately."
Fu Shinian looked up at Song Yi:
"A forest?"
"Yes. Upon further investigation, I found that there is a piece of land in the Eastern Suburbs forest that was bought by the Wei family and is not allowed for development. A few years ago, they built a Glass House that covers a modest area. Since it didn’t affect the surrounding ecological environment, it was approved, but the documents are still for the land, not for a house, which is why it wasn’t found initially."
Fu Shinian leaned back in his chair, his gaze distant as if he saw something light-years away:
"So, Su Mu is there?"
"Yes," Song Yi cautiously observed Fu Shinian’s reaction. "Because it’s remote and sparsely populated, the people sent to investigate didn’t dare get too close, but we can confirm that Madam has been living there since she left Bishui Yuntian. She hasn’t left, seldom comes out, and has just started to occasionally go outside lately, maybe to take some photos in the forest."
"Besides her, is there anyone else?"
Song Yi looked at Fu Shinian, and after a few seconds, lowered his gaze to speak, "There is an auntie, who is a helper from Wei Shaoqin’s family home, and she has recently been sent there to assist. Doctor Jiang almost visits daily, and in the evenings... Wei Shaoqin tends to stay the night there."
His voice was almost inaudible by the final statement, but the office was so quiet that Fu Shinian still heard this last part.
Song Yi expected him to get angry, but he didn’t. Instead, after pausing silently, he picked up his pen and began to review documents again, his tone indifferent:
"I see."
Song Yi didn’t know what had happened between Su Mu and Fu Shinian, just as he didn’t understand why his boss’s temperament had changed so drastically recently, vaguely suspecting it was because of Su Mu. But what perplexed him even more was why, even though Fu Shinian now knew where Su Mu was, he showed no intention of bringing her back.
Yet it wasn’t his place to comment on that. He glanced at his watch:
"It’s almost time for the dinner with President Wang of Hesheng Xing."
Fu Shinian responded lightly, then got up from his seat: "Let’s go."
——
That night, Jiang Bei was on duty. Close to midnight, she received a call from the dean ordering her to urgently attend to a patient suffering from gastric hemorrhage and shock at the hospital entrance. Standing there, she wondered who would be important enough to bring the dean personally. It might even be Fu Shinian, considering the hospital belonged to Fu Corporation.
While she entertained the thought, she never really expected her dream to come true.
In the emergency department, Song Yi was visibly panicking, his voice urgent:
"Doctor, please check on our boss. He’s been having stomach pains ever since he left the banquet, and two stomach pills did nothing to help. He vomited blood and fainted on the way home and hasn’t woken up yet."
Jiang Bei gave a cursory examination:
"Does the patient have a history of stomach pain?"
"He has always had it, but it has never been this severe before."
"And his diet recently?"
Song Yi thought for a moment, "Nothing unusual, just that he’s been drinking more frequently, today marking the fourth consecutive day."
At this, Jiang Bei raised an eyebrow:
"How much blood did he vomit? Was it coffee-colored or bright red?"
"Not much." Song Yi replied and turned to present a handkerchief, extending it to Jiang Bei: "Doctor, look, this is the blood that my boss just vomited."
After a glance, Jiang Bei instructed the nurse, "No need for an ultrasound, put in a gastric tube right away, rinse the stomach with saline, then administer epinephrine. Repeat the process after 4 hours, and replenish blood volume."
"Right," the nurse quickly responded, turning to get busy.
Watching Jiang Bei’s composed demeanor, Song Yi also slowly let out a breath of relief:
"Doctor, he’ll be okay, right?"
Jiang Bei glanced at Fu Shinian and snorted, "He won’t die."
Song Yi: "..."
The nurse quickly returned. Song Yi, standing aside, completely unable to assist and somewhat in the way, was shooed outside the curtain partition. Anxiously waiting outside, he suddenly thought this might be a good opportunity to call Su Mu. He didn’t want to miss out on this chance for Mr. Fu, knowing that if the two of them could reconcile, even if Fu Shinian later scolded him, it would be worth it.
With this in mind, Song Yi took out his phone, prepared to dial, when Jiang Bei emerged from behind the curtain, watching Song Yi about to make a call, and slightly smiled,
"Calling your wife?"
Song Yi smiled, "I’m still single."
"So you’re calling Su Mu then?"
Song Yi: "... do, do you know my wife? Then Mr. Fu..."
Jiang Bei chuckled,
"You’ve got some nerve. You probably don’t know that my recent wish has been to take down Fu Shinian, do you? I thought I didn’t have a proper way to do that, but here you are, delivering your boss right into my hands. What’s your name? One day I’ll treat you to a meal."
Song Yi, sweating coldly from Jiang Bei’s words, was too urgent to verify whether she was serious or not. He instinctively rushed toward the curtain partition, fearing that if he was even a second late, Fu Shinian would indeed be ’riding the crane to the west.’ However, Jiang Bei quickly blocked his path, standing in front of him,
"Don’t you think it’s a bit late now?"
"Aren’t you afraid I’ll report you?" Song Yi was frantic, saying he would call the police, but Jiang Bei appeared utterly indifferent, as if she wasn’t afraid of his actions at all.
Before Song Yi’s call went through, the hospital director and others hurried over, greeting Song Yi warmly with a handshake. Jiang Bei looked on indifferently, inwardly scoffing, but Song Yi didn’t have time for pleasantries and pointed directly at Jiang Bei:
"Director Zhang, how can there be a doctor in this hospital who doesn’t care about human life? Did you hear what she just said? She said she wants to kill Mr. Fu."
