Chapter 102: Chapter 102: Why Aren’t You at Work

Inside the VIP room at Mingde Hospital.

Lan Shan sat by the bedside, watching Ye Xinluo lying there.

At this moment, Ye Xinluo’s eyes were tightly shut, her face pale, devoid of any color.

Just then, the door opened, and Gong Shaoyu walked in, followed by a man in a white coat.

"Brother Gong," Lan Shan greeted him.

Gong Shaoyu nodded and turned to glance at the doctor behind him.

The doctor nodded, walked to the bedside, and started examining Ye Xinluo’s condition.

Standing to one side, Lan Shan asked worriedly, "Brother Gong, will Xinluo be okay?"

These past days, she knew Xinluo’s emotions had been unstable, but fainting at home had truly scared her.

"It’s alright, don’t worry," Gong Shaoyu reassured her.

After a while, the doctor finished his examination, then stood up and looked at Lan Shan and Gong Shaoyu, saying, "The patient has long-term nutritional deficiency, was suddenly overly stimulated, and, coupled with some anemia, this led to fainting. Resting for a few days should solve it."

Hearing this, Lan Shan finally breathed a sigh of relief and smiled, saying, "Thank you, doctor."

"No need to thank me, it’s my duty," the doctor smiled, "If there’s nothing else, I’ll be on my way."

"Alright, thank you."

...

After the doctor left, the room fell into silence again.

Lan Shan sat in the chair, watching Ye Xinluo, while Gong Shaoyu sat on the sofa, picking up a laptop to handle some paperwork.

They had been in Z city for several days and, to accompany Ye Xinluo, Gong Shaoyu had set aside company affairs.

Now, the work had almost piled up like a mountain.

...

Mo Han picked up his phone and dialed Ye Xinluo’s number.

Ring... Ring... Ring...

The phone rang a few times, but no one answered in the end.

He tried twice more, still no answer, and finally gave up.

Opening his contact list, he swiped a few times on the screen to find Lan Shan’s number and called it.

He remembered Lan Shan mentioned she was close friends with Ye Xinluo, so it should be right to contact her.

Lan Shan, sitting in the chair daydreaming, was interrupted by her phone ringing on the table.

To not disturb Ye Xinluo’s rest, she picked up the phone and walked to the balcony. She frowned at the caller ID.

She swiped the screen to answer.

"Hello, Assistant Mo."

"Where are you?" Mo Han’s voice came through the receiver.

The two were usually quite familiar, so there wasn’t much formality in their speech.

Lan Shan turned her head to glance into the ward before speaking, "I’m outside. Is there something you need, Assistant Mo?"

There was a two-second pause on the other end before Mo Han’s voice came through, "Do you know where Assistant Ye is? I’ve called her, but no one is answering."

Lan Shan was taken aback, not expecting him to ask that. Xinluo was currently in the hospital; could she say that?

The answer was no.

So, she replied, "Are you looking for Xinluo for something, Assistant Mo?"

"I heard Assistant Ye hasn’t been to work in the last few days, and neither have you. Why is that?"

Mo Han’s words reminded Lan Shan that she and Xinluo had indeed not been to work for several consecutive days.

With the worries over Jingxi, she had been too preoccupied to think about work.

But she couldn’t tell him the truth, so she made up an excuse, "Oh, it’s like this. Xinluo has been feeling unwell these past few days, and since she doesn’t have many friends in Z city, I’m staying with her."

She wasn’t wrong; Xinluo indeed didn’t have many friends in Z city.

"I see. But why didn’t you both apply for leave, nor call to inform?"
