Chapter 97: Should He Kiss Her?

Chapter 97: Chapter 97: Should He Kiss Her?

Did Yin Moran come downstairs?

Lin Qian was startled and turned to look ahead, only to see Yin Moran walking toward her, clad in a black robe, leisurely.

When she had come downstairs, she had only turned on one wall lamp, and now, under the warm yellow light, the man’s tall figure slowly approached, blurring his sharp edges with a somewhat hazy beauty.

It was not until Yin Moran stood in front of her that she realized she had been openly admiring someone.

Lin Qian quickly came back to herself and reached up to tuck a stray lock of hair behind her ear to hide her discomfort.

"Hmm, I just finished putting the kids to sleep and came down to have some water."

The woman’s eyes darted away, and a suspicious flush crossed behind her ear.

Yin Moran curved into a pleased smile and stood beside her.

The room was silent, and Lin Qian thought she could hear her own heartbeat.

"Um, thanks again for letting my son and me stay."

Lin Qian looked at Yin Moran and gave him a grateful smile.

Yin Moran glanced at her, his mouth curling up playfully, "Just a word of thanks again? How about..."

The man’s head tilted slightly towards her, his features distractingly handsome.

Lin Qian swallowed, feeling his breath come closer, as if he was about to steal a kiss.

What should she do?

Should she let him kiss her?

Should she close her eyes?

He had helped her so much, should she just comply with his wish?

Lin Qian held her breath, her little face turning red from holding it in, her heart thumping as if a little deer were crashing around inside.

Yin Moran’s handsome face stopped just half a centimeter from hers.

Seeing her holding her breath and looking tense, he suddenly smiled.

"Lin Qian, I just wanted you to get me a cup of water. Why are you so nervous? Did you think... I wanted to kiss you?"

Lin Qian: "..."

No, she hadn’t! She wasn’t!

She’d been tricked again!

Lin Qian bit her moist red lip, glared at him annoyedly, and quickly walked to the water dispenser to pour him water.

Yin Moran touched his thin lips, his eyes deep.

Just now, her lips had been so close... Why hadn’t he just gone for it?

"Here."

Lin Qian handed the cup of water to Yin Moran, puffed her cheeks, "It’s getting late, I’m going upstairs to rest, and you should rest early too."

She didn’t dare stay alone with him anymore.

He was too bad!

"Wait."

Yin Moran called Lin Qian back.

Lin Qian instinctively took a step back, looking at Yin Moran with a tense expression.

Seeing her wary look, Yin Moran couldn’t help but laugh, "Lin Qian, what is that expression? Do you see me as a flood or beast?"

Isn’t he though?

Always toying with her for no reason.

Lin Qian pursed her lips and remained silent, inwardly grumbling.

Yin Moran hooked the corner of his lips, took a sip of water and said, "Come here. About what happened today, what do you plan to do?"

So that was what he was asking?

Lin Qian’s eyes lit up, and she obediently moved to his side.

"The company has given me an ultimatum to resolve the issue tomorrow. The only way is to make Ye An’an and Lu Jun tell the truth and stop slandering us. So tomorrow, I still have to go to the hospital and negotiate with them. But I expect it will be futile and that I’ll end up being fired from the company and having to compensate for the repair of the watch and damages to the company’s reputation."

Those two clearly wanted to make her life difficult. Negotiating with them would probably be a waste of effort.

Lin Qian looked out the window, sighing helplessly.

"Ye An’an’s company is discussing a collaboration project with the Yins. Tomorrow, I’ll go with you to meet her."

Yin Moran’s magnetic voice reached her ears, and Lin Qian turned her head to look at him, her apricot eyes sparkling.

She knew Yin Moran wanted to help her.

But what did he mean by that?

How did he plan to help her?

"Um..."

The sudden ringtone of the phone interrupted Lin Qian’s next question.

Lin Qian was stunned for a moment, picked up her phone, and upon seeing the caller ID, her red lips involuntarily pursed.

It was a call from Su Yu’an.

Lin Qian subconsciously looked at Yin Moran, somehow feeling inexplicably guilty, just wanting to escape quickly.

Yin Moran’s dark eyes flickered to the caller ID on Lin Qian’s phone, and his face instantly lost color.

His gaze shifted to Lin Qian, just as she answered the call and turned to leave.

Without thinking, Yin Moran reached out and grabbed her.

Lin Qian’s steps halted, and she glanced at his deep eyes, swallowing hard.

From the phone came Su Yu’an’s refined voice.

"Qianqian, are you in trouble?"

In the quiet room, the voice from the phone was particularly clear.

Lin Qian pursed her lips, "I’m fine."

"I saw the news, Qianqian, are you really okay?"

"Yes, I’m fine."

Lin Qian lowered her eyes, feeling the long fingers of the man holding her arm tighten.

"Qianqian, do you really not plan to see me? I miss you so much, I just want to talk to you."

The man’s voice on the phone was tender and affectionate, extra warm in the dark night, like a lover’s whisper.

Lin Qian’s grip on the phone tightened, her red lips clenched as her heart twisted slightly.

It wasn’t that she didn’t want to see him, she just couldn’t.

"Qianqian, why aren’t you speaking? It’s been four years, and countless nights, I could only see you in my dreams. Thankfully, I’ve finally waited for this day, to stand in front of you alive, seeing the woman I’ve longed for day and night. Qianqian..."

Suddenly, the phone was taken from her.

Lin Qian stared blankly as Yin Moran took her phone and held it to his ear.

"Yu’an, it’s me."

That single sentence brought an abrupt silence on the other end of the line.

"Cousin?"

"Yes, Qianqian is staying at my house now, it’s very late, you should also rest early."

Yin Moran’s expression was stern, and he hung up after speaking.

His gaze swept towards Lin Qian, carrying a trace of coolness.

Lin Qian’s heart tightened, she took her phone back, and lowered her eyes, her emotions somewhat downcast.

"It’s getting late, I’m going upstairs to rest."

Her mind suddenly became chaotic, thinking about Su Yu’an.

A cold male voice came from behind, "Lin Qian, in matters of the heart, dragging things out is the least advisable. If you are to break it off, make it clean."

The man’s voice carried a hint of ruthlessness.

Lin Qian clenched her hand around the phone.

She didn’t turn around or speak, just hurried upstairs.

Make it clean if you’re going to break it!

He was right, but her heart, it really hurt.

Behind her, Yin Moran watched Lin Qian quickly ascend the stairs, the temperature in his dark eyes gradually cooling.

He turned to look out the window, his black eyes deep and distant.

The next day, having almost not slept at all, Lin Qian woke up with puffy eyes.

The two little ones were still sleeping soundly.

Lin Qian gently got out of bed, planning to make breakfast for them personally.

She stepped out of the room, gently closed the door, and turned around, only to see Yin Moran’s tall figure approaching her.

He was dressed in light grey sportswear, tall and handsome, with steam still rising from his body as if he had just returned from exercising.

Lin Qian stood there, not moving, staring as he coldly passed by her, heading towards his bedroom door.

Was he angry?

Was it because of Su Yu’an’s call last night?

Lin Qian bit her lip and just as Yin Moran was about to enter his room, she stepped forward and grabbed his sleeve.
