Chapter 85: Chapter 85 How Not to Cry

"Ah!"

Lin Qian cried out in pain again, tears spurting from her eyes, "Yin Moran, are you doing this on purpose? My hand is going to break!"

Her plaintive, trembling voice, pitiful and distressing, stirred at one’s heart.

Yin Moran’s eyebrows knotted as he loosened his grip.

The evening breeze blew by, carrying a trace of chill.

The woman’s figure was lean and fragile, trembling slightly in the evening wind.

Yin Moran’s thin lips pressed lightly together; he took off his coat and draped it over her shoulders, "Sorry."

With just two words, devoid of any particular emotion, they caused Lin Qian’s tears, which she had barely held back, to again surge forth and fall.

Yin Moran’s breathing hitched, a hint of helplessness flashing through his dark eyes.

Still crying?

Indeed, women are made of water.

"Stop crying."

Yin Moran’s long, beautiful fingers lifted, gently wiping the tears from the corner of her eyes.

Perhaps because his voice was too gentle, Lin Qian looked at him through tear-stained eyes, unable to stop her tears from falling.

Her red, teary eyes resembled those of a little rabbit.

Yin Moran’s head ached, and his tone unconsciously became coaxing, "Stop crying, what do you want so you’ll stop? Should I go buy Candy for you?"

Buy Candy?

Treat her like Candy to be soothed?

Lin Qian broke into laughter through her tears, her fingertip brushing past the corner of her eye, as if she could still feel the lingering warmth there.

"No need, I just want to take a walk alone."

After a good cry, she felt much of the heaviness in her heart had dissipated.

A walk might help her return to calmness.

Lin Qian turned and prepared to move forward.

Yin Moran quickly grasped her hand.

He consciously avoided her injury, "Don’t run off, wait here."

Lin Qian’s steps paused, and she saw him pull out his phone to make a call.

Soon, a luxury car pulled up and stopped by them.

The Yin Family’s driver got out from the driver’s seat, "Mr. Yin."

Yin Moran gave a slight nod and opened the car door.

"Get in."

"Yin Moran, can I not go back just yet?"

Her emotions were still unsettled, could she have a little more time?

"I didn’t say I was taking you back."

Yin Moran uttered tersely, pushing Lin Qian into the car before getting into the driver’s seat himself.

The vehicle started and sped forward.

The night was deep, and the roads were no longer as bustling as during the day.

Only the streetlights illuminated the world in the darkness.

Lin Qian gazed blankly at the streets outside, the cramped car filled with a somewhat oppressive atmosphere.

Yin Moran glanced at her, his gaze deep.

The car increasingly deviated from the main road, turning onto the winding mountain road.

Lin Qian’s eyes stirred slightly, finally showing some reaction.

"Where are we going?"

This road seemed to lead up the mountain?

Finally reacting?

The corners of Yin Moran’s mouth curved slightly, "Relax, I’m not going to sell you."

Lin Qian: "..."

Even though she knew he was joking,

The word "sell" reminded her of the events from four years ago:

the missed lover, the lost innocence, the child that was no more.

In a flash, her emotions undulated again.

The fleeting sorrow on the woman’s face was caught by Yin Moran, who turned his head to glance at her, his eyebrows slightly furrowing.

After a while, he said, "When you’re feeling down, climbing high and looking far can clear the mind. So, I’m taking you up the mountain to watch the sunrise."

Climbing the mountain to watch the sunrise?

He was quite thoughtful.

Lin Qian turned to look at him, his profile still as impeccably perfect.

Thinking back to how she had lost her temper with him at the hospital without any regard, a twinge of guilt inevitably flashed through her heart.

"I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have lost my temper at you earlier."

Although he had also lost his temper with her, she knew it was because of Candy.

No matter what her reasons were, from his perspective, he had every right to scold her.

Even though she also felt wronged!

With downcast eyes, the woman began to compose herself as before.

Yin Moran slightly raised an eyebrow, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.

The car traveled on, finally stopping halfway up the mountain.

"Here we are, get out."

Yin Moran unbuckled his seat belt, turning to look at Lin Qian.

Is this it?

Lin Qian unfastened her seat belt, her eyes scanning the pitch-black surroundings, and she couldn’t help but swallow hard.

"Yin Moran, let’s... go back, shall we? It’s too dark here."

"Hmm, desolate mountains and wild ridges, the moon shrouded, the winds high, Lin Qian, are you afraid I’ll take advantage of you?"

The man leaned in slightly, his voice purposefully low, carrying a hint of naughtiness.

Lin Qian instinctively crossed her arms and leaned away, her face wary as she looked at him.

But when she caught his teasing gaze, she couldn’t help but say, "Yin Moran, will you die if you don’t tease me for a day?"

Yin Moran slowly straightened up, the corners of his lips curling into a smile, not replying to her but merely picking up his jacket and opening the car door.

It’s always more fun when the woman’s expressive!

"Uh, Yin Moran, wait for me."

Seeing Yin Moran exit the car, Lin Qian hurriedly opened her door, rushing to his side.

Her large eyes nervously scanned the surroundings, fearing the sudden appearance of some unknown creature.

Her vigilant careful demeanor, like a startled little deer, irresistibly made one want to tease her.

The corners of Yin Moran’s mouth lifted slightly as he suddenly lengthened his stride, moving forward swiftly.

"Hey, Yin Moran, wait for me, don’t walk so fast!"

Lin Qian let out a startled cry, swiftly following behind him.

The surroundings were quiet, with only a crescent moon hanging in the sky.

This was the path up the mountain, with dense jungles on both sides.

A breeze blew through, causing a rustling sound in the jungle.

Lin Qian felt goosebumps all over her body; her heart was pounding like thunder.

She didn’t know if it was because of the brisk walk or because of fear.

At that moment, the man in front of her suddenly stopped.

Lin Qian, lost in thought behind him, bumped into him unexpectedly and took an instinctive step back.

Her foot missed a step, and she let out a cry as she was about to fall.

"Be careful."

Yin Moran reached out in time, pulling her up with a steady hand.

Lin Qian’s heart was still pounding fiercely; she patted her chest, her voice a mix of complaint and admonishment, "Yin Moran, why did you suddenly stop?"

She had almost fallen.

"I was worried you couldn’t keep up and might become prey to a wild beast; I turned back to look out of concern, and now it’s my fault?"

Yin Moran asked, his lips quirked in a questioning smile.

Lin Qian choked, reflexively glancing at the jungles on either side. With the thought of wild animals crossing her mind, she urged, "Let’s move, let’s move, don’t stop."

Really, why bring her to climb the mountain in the middle of the night?

Didn’t he know she was faint-hearted?

"Okay, keep close."

Her hand was still held in his. She didn’t know if she was unaware of it, or if she was aware but didn’t let go because of fear.

A glint of amusement flickered in Yin Moran’s dark eyes as he gripped her hand tighter and continued forward.

The surroundings were still quiet, with only their intermittent breathing breaking the silence.

They walked for an unknown duration, and Lin Qian’s feet were sore and aching.

Sweat had formed on her body, and even her palms were...

Wait, was her hand still being held by Yin Moran?

Lin Qian’s heart skipped a beat, and she took a deep breath.

"What’s the matter? Tired?"

Yin Moran, hearing Lin Qian’s deep breath, turned to look at her.

"I am quite tired."

Lin Qian managed a dry smile, attempting to pull her hand away with a bit more force.
