Chapter 83: Chapter 83: Is it an Apology or Chopping off Both Hands

"Mr. Li, I won’t be in trouble, thank you."

Lin Qian smiled, her gaze sweeping towards Gu Yan as she turned and walked away.

"Lin, I’ll go wait for you in the parking lot first."

"Sure, thank you for the trouble."

"What’s there to thank me for?"

Nangong Li rotated the car keys in his hands and gave Gu Yan a cold, warning glance before striding off.

Once Nangong Li had left, Lin Qian turned to Gu Yan, "What did you want to talk to me about?"

Her tone was plain, yet it somehow conveyed a sense of superiority.

Gu Yan stared at her coldly.

Her petite face still bore the traces of having cried.

Her light makeup was smeared, and her clothes were stained with spots of blood.

She should have been a mess, a lowly person, so why could she still put on such a proud face in front of her?

Just because Su Yu’an had placed her at the top of his heart?

That was the life she had stolen from her!

"Lin Qian, I warn you again, don’t find any reason to contact Yu’an; otherwise, I will definitely make you suffer."

Hate blazed in Gu Yan’s eyes.

Lin Qian pursed her lips, "Are you done? Can I go now if you’re done?"

Her indifferent demeanor made it seem as if others were mere jesters in her eyes.

Gu Yan suddenly grabbed Lin Qian’s wrist with such force it seemed she intended to crush it.

"Lin Qian, what right do you think you have? Is stealing my life not enough, now you must also steal my man? Haven’t you already hooked up with Yin Moran? Why do you still need to seduce Su Yu’an?"

"Oh, I see, so you can’t stand being alone? Is one Yin Moran not enough for you? You really have some nerve, having Nangong Li, his good friend, protecting you too; so you want all the men around you to fall at your skirt, is that it?"

Her words were full of malice.

Even her delicate makeup couldn’t hide her twisted expression.

Lin Qian forcefully pulled her hand away, as if finding a release for the frustration inside her.

"Gu Yan, mind your language, please. I don’t owe you anything, and the identity swap wasn’t my fault. Please stop harping on about it and taking your anger out on me, it makes you seem very unclassy!"

"Unclassy?"

Gu Yan’s tone became uncontrollably shrill, "Lin Qian, don’t forget, you’re just a lowly saleswoman, talking to me about being classy? That’s laughable!"

"Profession does not dictate class. Cultivation and lack thereof are not reflected in one’s job but in one’s actions and behavior."

Lin Qian rubbed her wrist, "At least I have never maligned others."

"You..."

Gu Yan hissed, "If you don’t want others to speak ill of you, then control your behavior and stop coveting other people’s men."

Lin Qian paused, then sincerely said to Gu Yan, "Gu Yan, I do sympathize with you, I know you hate me, and hate that I’ve taken your life. But as I’ve said before, it wasn’t my fault. Instead of harboring hatred for me, you’d be better off working on improving your own disposition. Yu’an is a cultured and refined man; if you put some effort into appealing to him, I believe he would eventually be attracted to you."

Is it meaningful for her to keep finding problems with me, blaming me for everything?

If I don’t pay attention to others, will they pay more attention to me?

Gu Yan’s emotional intelligence really isn’t high.

"Lin Qian, stop pretending to be so cultured in front of me! Are you implying I’m uneducated? Who caused all this? Isn’t it because of your gambler father? If it weren’t for his refusal to pay for my education, how could I possibly not have even finished high school? A child pays for a parent’s debt; your father’s mistakes are yours to amend!"

Gu Yan, like a wild cat with stepped-on tail, showed her claws and yelled at Lin Qian.

Lin Qian was so annoyed she felt utterly exhausted.

"Gu Yan, I’ve said it, I sympathize with you, but that doesn’t mean I’ll back down unconditionally. I’ve said what I needed to say, now give it some thought yourself."

"Different principles lead to discord, further discussion would just waste our breath."

Lin Qian turned around, ready to leave.

"Lin Qian, I hate you."

Perhaps because her wounds had been exposed, Gu Yan lost her temper and, without thinking, shoved Lin Qian hard.

Caught off guard, Lin Qian stumbled forward, saw the white wall in front of her, and gasped, instinctively closing her eyes.

It’s over, she was going to hit the wall!

Could she get a concussion?

However, the anticipated pain did not come.

Suddenly, someone held her tightly.

The man’s aggressively invasive scent washed over her, carrying a familiar aroma that made Lin Qian open her eyes wide.

Yin Moran?

Why was he at the hospital?

The man’s face was incredibly handsome.

But his eyes, dark as ink, were as deep and terrifying as a cold pool.

Was he angry?

Lin Qian straightened up and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, stuttering, "Thank you."

Yin Moran’s lips were tightly pursed, and he glanced at her, his sharp gaze turning to the dumbstruck Gu Yan.

Being stared at by Yin Moran’s grim eyes made Gu Yan shiver uncontrollably.

"Mr. Yin, Yu’an is still in the ward, I..."

"Apologize."

His voice was deep and chilling.

Gu Yan hadn’t finished speaking when he interrupted her.

He wanted her to apologize to Lin Qian?

Why should she?

Gu Yan defiantly said, "Mr. Yin, it’s her fault. She’s already dating you but still can’t resist flirting. Yu’an was hospitalized because of her. He’s my fiancé, seeing him bewitched by this woman, am I not allowed to vent?"

"She’s mine, and I saw you pushing her."

Yin Moran looked at Gu Yan, "In my world, I adhere to one principle: only I can bully those who are mine. You should be glad she wasn’t hurt. So, are you choosing to apologize, or shall I choose... to crush both your hands?"

His tone was cold and threatening.

His powerful presence left no room for doubt about his sincerity.

If she didn’t apologize, her hands might be severed from her body the next second.

Gu Yan instinctively wrapped her other hand around her wrist, her face turning pale.

Her glare shifted to Lin Qian, full of rage yet unable to voice it.

Accursed Lin Qian, what was so good about her?

That Yin Moran would go to such lengths to protect her!

Gu Yan mumbled through her lips, and finally, reluctantly said, "I’m sorry."

As the words fell, she shot a glance at Yin Moran, then glared hatefully at Lin Qian before swiftly turning away.

The person had left, and Lin Qian pursed her lips, her heart wavering, unable to settle down.

Her gaze swept towards the man in front of her, his tall and majestic figure emanated a dignified aloofness.

He suddenly turned around, his eyes filled with coldness.

Lin Qian inexplicably felt guilty, unsure why, but couldn’t help stepping back, as if that could keep her from being frozen by someone’s chill.
