Chapter 70: Chapter 70 You Are Family

Today was Monday, and the two little ones had to go to school.

Han Chen came early in the morning, bringing a sumptuous breakfast.

The two kids wore matching uniforms and, after freshening up, they sat down to eat breakfast, with Yin Moran browsing the news beside them.

The sunlight from outside streamed through the window, casting light on the three of them, making the sight somewhat dreamy.

From a certain angle, the moment they lowered their heads, the resemblance between the big and the two small ones was striking.

The three of them, a father and sons?

A thought inexplicably popped into Lin Qian’s mind, and she quickly cast her eyes down, cursing herself for being foolish.

"Mummy, today Zirui and I have to go to school, so we can’t stay with you in the hospital."

Candy’s childish voice rang in her ears, and Lin Qian snapped out of her thoughts, smiling at her, "You guys have a good day at school, make sure to listen to your teacher."

"Yeah, Mummy also needs to listen to Daddy, rest well, and don’t run around."

Candy added with a grin.

Lin Qian was stunned and then couldn’t help but laugh and cry at the same time.

Her gaze inadvertently swept across to the man opposite her, only to see him lifting his eyes; his deep black eyes met hers, profound and intense.

Lin Qian quickly averted her gaze, cleared her throat softly, "Zirui, are you done eating? Take good care of Candy at school."

"I know, Mummy, don’t worry." Lin Zirui nodded, slid off the chair, picked up his small backpack, and took Candy’s hand, ready to go to school.

"Hehe, Uncle Han Chen, don’t we four look like a family of four?"

Candy looked at Han Chen with a smile, seeking backup.

Han Chen glanced at his boss and laughed, "Yes, you certainly do."

If it weren’t for the paternity test results, he would have really believed these four were a family.

"Cough, Assistant Han, please take Zirui to school."

Lin Qian, unable to bear the little one’s joke, hurriedly changed the subject.

"Don’t mention it, little miss said it, you are a family."

Lin Qian: "..."

Even Han Chen was teasing her!

These people were all in cahoots!

Whatever she said was wrong.

Better to keep silent!

"Let’s go."

Yin Moran stood up, straightened his clothes, and spoke.

"Mummy, we’re leaving."

"Mummy, see you tonight."

The two children bid farewell to Lin Qian, holding hands, and followed Han Chen out.

Watching the woman in the wheelchair waving as the two little ones left, Yin Moran walked up to her, his shadow darkening her figure.

Lin Qian instinctively leaned back, lifting her eyes in stunned silence to look at him.

Yin Moran bent slightly, his dark eyes intensely fixed on her.

The next second, he raised his hand to gently stroke her hair, his lips barely moving, "Qianqian, remember what I told you, I don’t like being used as a shield. Since you’ve labeled me your boyfriend in front of others, then you should be ready to truly be Yin Moran’s girlfriend."

His tone was unhurried yet carried an undeniable intimidation.

Lin Qian pursed her lips, gazing at the handsome face of the man close at hand, full of self-reproach.

What a miscalculation.

She must have been out of her mind to think of using this man as a shield!

...

Yin Family old mansion.

"Madam, young miss, here is the bone broth I’ve prepared."

The housekeeper respectfully handed over a thermos.

Yin Qinglan took it, looking at Zhong Liqing, "Mom, are we really going to the hospital to visit Lin Qian?"

It was somewhat sudden and unexpected; she had not thought her stepmother would want to see Lin Qian.

"Yes, we’re free anyway, and I’m just curious to see what this girl looks like."

Zhong Liqing smiled, "Don’t worry, your mother is from a distinguished family, she won’t judge people with prejudice like some other wealthy wives do."

Suddenly caught off guard by the probing, Yin Qinglan sheepishly laughed and clung to Zhong Liqing’s arm coquettishly, "Mom, I didn’t say anything."

"Hmm, just worried inside, afraid that I might clash with this girl?"

"Not at all, my mother has always been gentle and graceful, never vulgar like others."

"Stop flattering me, let me tell you, you and your brother’s marriages must be under my supervision."

"..."

The mother and daughter joked and got into the Yin Family’s private car, heading straight for the hospital.

When the two arrived at Lin Qian’s ward, Lin Qian was looking at the sales data from the past few days on a tablet.

Looking up, she saw two elegant women standing at the door.

"Lin Qian, do you remember me?"

Yin Qinglan placed a thermos on the table and gracefully walked toward Lin Qian’s hospital bed.

"You are Mr. Yin’s sister, Miss Yin Qinglan."

Lin Qian recognized Yin Qinglan, whom she had met once before, and was astounded.

Why had Yin Qinglan come?

There was also a dignified middle-aged woman with her.

Her eyes and brows bore some resemblance to Moran.

So this middle-aged woman was...

Lin Qian’s heart skipped a beat, and her gaze unconsciously swept over to the middle-aged woman, only to see her staring blankly at her with an inexplicable expression on her face.

"Mom, this is Lin Qian."

Yin Qinglan smiled as she introduced each other, "Lin Qian, this is my mom. Hearing about your accident, she had the servants make some soup, so drink it while it’s hot."

It was indeed Moran’s mother!

Lin Qian felt somewhat at a loss, hurriedly got out of bed, and sat down in a wheelchair, "Mrs. Yin, Miss Yin, please have a seat, I’ll pour you some water."

What was Moran up to, anyway?

Was he making her meet his parents?

Why hadn’t he given her a heads-up?

It was nowhere near the point of meeting parents yet.

"Lin Qian, don’t be nervous, we don’t mean anything by it, my mom was just curious about what you look like and came to see you."

Yin Qinglan laughed and glanced at Liqing beside her, "Mom, isn’t that right?"

At that moment, Liqing’s gaze was fixated sharply on Lin Qian, so pointed that Yin Qinglan was taken aback, her smile freezing on her face.

Why was her mother looking at Lin Qian like that?

As if she were looking at an enemy.

"Mom, what’s wrong?"

Yin Qinglan gently tugged at Liqing’s sleeve, asking worriedly.

Liqing’s face changed rapidly, her eyes fixed on Lin Qian pouring water, her hand gripping her handbag tightly as if she were forcibly suppressing her emotions.

"I’m fine."

Really fine?

It didn’t seem right.

Yin Qinglan felt suspicious and helped Liqing to sit down on the sofa.

Lin Qian, unaware of Liqing’s odd behavior, poured two glasses of water and had the nurse push her wheelchair next to the sofa.

"Mrs. Yin, Miss Yin, please drink some water."

"Lin Qian, just call me Qinglan."

Yin Qinglan smiled, taking the glass of water Lin Qian handed her.

Lin Qian pursed her lips into a smile and handed the other glass of water to Liqing.

When she caught Liqing’s eyes, she momentarily froze.

Hatred.

In Mrs. Yin’s eyes, there was an increasing intensity of hatred amid bewilderment.

Why?

"Mrs. Yin..."

Crash!

The sound of the water glass being knocked over was followed by a gasp.

Lin Qian had never expected that Mrs. Yin would silently knock over the water glass she had handed her.

Fortunately, the water in the glass wasn’t scalding hot, but even so, the backs of her hands and arms where the water splashed swiftly reddened.

"Mrs. Yin... uh!"

Lin Qian hadn’t expected that after knocking over the glass, Mrs. Yin would grab her throat, the grip so strong as if she wanted to strangle her.
