Chapter 32: Chapter 32 Quite Gifted as a Chef
"Candy, don’t cry."
Lin Zirui’s small face went from shocked to furious, tightened up.
"Mr. Yin, don’t be mean to Candy. It’s not Candy’s fault, it was my idea, and I apologize to her."
"It wasn’t, it wasn’t Brother’s idea. I just don’t like Mrs. Qiao, and that’s why I asked my brother to help me."
Candy wiped away her tears, "Alright, I’ll apologize to Mrs. Qiao right now."
Having said that, Candy turned and walked towards the kitchen.
"Candy, where are you going?"
"I’m going to brew tea for Auntie to apologize. Brother, come help me."
"Okay."
Watching the two little figures run into the kitchen, Yin Moran’s dark pupils flickered with complexity and regret.
Beside him, Qiao Xiya blinked, feeling even more pleased with herself.
This was the first time she had seen Yin Moran defend her in front of his daughter!
"Moran, kids don’t understand things, so don’t be angry. However, Candy is so well-behaved; I’m sure it wasn’t her idea. I think it must’ve been Lin Qian’s son’s doing. Influenced by his mother, he thinks that by driving me away, they can..."
Qiao Xiya had wanted to seize the opportunity to defame Lin Qian and her son, but when her eyes met Yin Moran’s chillingly cold gaze, she involuntarily swallowed the rest of her words.
"Moran, how did... how did they end up coming over to our house?"
Such a terrifying look.
She knew he disliked it when people gossiped behind others’ backs.
"It’s none of your business."
Qiao Xiya: "....."
The atmosphere between them had been so good just a moment ago; how had he suddenly become so cold towards her again!
In the kitchen, Lin Qian came out with a plate, only to see the two little ones heading into the kitchen.
"Candy, Zirui, are you looking for something?"
"Mummy, go to the dining room first; we’ll be right there."
Candy squeezed out a smile at Lin Qian, taking Lin Zirui by the hand and hurriedly running towards the kitchen.
"Ah..."
The little one’s eyes were red, and there had been some noise coming from the living room just before.
Had Yin Moran been scolding her?
Why?
With a pensive look, Lin Qian carried the plate to the dining room.
Inside the kitchen, Candy’s big eyes scanned the room as she ran up to the coffee machine.
"Little miss, what do you want to take? Let Nanny Zhang help you."
Assistant Nanny Zhang stepped into the kitchen, quickly asking.
"Um, Nanny Zhang, do you have that really spicy chili sauce? Can you get it for Candy, please?"
Nanny Zhang liked spicy food, and because she thought the chili sauce from the supermarket wasn’t spicy enough, she would make some of her own when she had time.
"Oh, sure."
Nanny Zhang took a bottle of chili sauce out of the fridge, "Little miss, do you want me to take it to the dining table for you?"
The little miss wasn’t picky and would sometimes crave it when she saw the servants eating it.
"No need."
Candy shook her head and opened her arms towards her, "Nanny Zhang, hold me."
"Sure." Nanny Zhang smiled as she picked up the little one.
Candy wiggled her body and rummaged through the cupboard, her chubby little hand grabbing several seasoning bottles.
"Okay, Nanny Zhang, you can put me down now."
"Sure." Nanny Zhang set the little miss down on the ground, looking at her bewilderedly, "Miss, what are you..."
"Nanny Zhang, please go out for a bit."
Candy smiled sweetly at Nanny Zhang, her eyes twinkling mischievously, like a little fox up to no good.
Nanny Zhang hesitated, then finally left the room.
Lin Zirui watched the entire scene silently, already understanding what Candy intended to do.
"Candy, are you planning to prank that woman again?"
"Yep, she’s ruining the relationship between daddy and Candy, and I hate her."
Candy pouted, took out a cup, stood on tiptoes, placed it on the coffee machine, and after getting a cup of coffee, she sprinkled a bit of the seasoning she held into it.
Most importantly, the chili sauce. Her big eyes twirling, Candy scooped out the sauce with a spoon and added it to the coffee, then stirred it thoroughly.
Seeing Candy’s mischief, Lin Zirui moved his little mouth, "Candy, even though I don’t like that woman either, you’re going to get scolded for this."
"Humph, Daddy already scolded me once, I won’t be sad if he does it again."
Candy stirred her coffee grumpily, still upset with Yin Moran.
Lin Zirui sighed like a little adult, stepped forward, poured a glass of plain water, but added several spoonfuls of sugar to it, "Fine, we’ll share the fortune and face the trouble together, I’ve participated in this prank too."
"Hehe, brother, I’ll definitely drive her away and help mommy guard daddy."
Lin Zirui: "..."
Can Candy really keep watch over Mr. Yin?
From Mr. Yin’s earlier demeanor, it seemed like he wasn’t displeased with Qiao Xiya at all.
In the dining room, Lin Qian placed the dishes on the table.
Qiao Xiya looked around, inhaled lightly, "It smells wonderful! Moran, have you changed chefs?"
At this, Yin Moran glanced at Lin Qian standing to the side, his lips curving into a cold arc, and he didn’t disagree.
So, she’s been relegated to the role of a chef?
Lin Qian felt stifled, lifted her eyes to look at Qiao Xiya, "Miss Qiao, I cooked today’s meal. Mr. Yin did me a big favor, and to express my thanks, I promised Candy that I would come cook a meal for her and her father today. I didn’t know there would be other guests, so I’m sorry the dishes are a bit scarce."
The way she said it, was she classifying her as just another guest?
And what about Lin Qian herself?
Assuming the role of the lady of the house?
Qiao Xiya’s expression changed, but she quickly put on a polite smile.
"So, you cooked today’s meal? Miss Lin seems quite talented as a chef. If you ever decide to stop being a salesclerk, just let me know. I know many wealthy families, and I can definitely find you a good employer, so you can become a personal chef."
Wanting to be the lady of the house?
Becoming a servant to a wealthy family is more like it!
Lin Qian picked up on Qiao Xiya’s insinuation, smiled lightly, "Miss Qiao, many women can cook, but not all are aiming to be chefs. They’re just homemakers, and for homemakers, being virtuous is most important. There’s a saying, isn’t there? To capture a man’s heart, one must first capture his stomach."
Lin Qian paused, "Of course, for a big star like Miss Qiao, a career woman who doesn’t put her hands in cold water, you probably don’t need to play the virtuous part to capture a man’s heart."
The compliment was overt, but it was an implicit dig at Qiao Xiya not being a virtuous person.
Qiao Xiya glared at Lin Qian, momentarily unable to respond.
Beside her, Yin Moran’s dark eyes shifted slightly, the tense cold curve at his mouth relaxing a bit.
The little wildcat sure had a sharp tongue.
"I’m going to check on the two kids."
Not wanting to stand around like a servant, Lin Qian turned to head to the kitchen to look for the children.
Taking a step, she saw two little figures, one holding a cup of coffee and the other a glass of plain water, carefully making their way to the dining room.
Lin Qian quickly stepped forward, "Candy, Zirui, let me help you carry those."
