Chapter 357: Chapter 355: Get on the Bus First, Buy the Ticket Later_1

Upon hearing her words, Na Ersi’s lips curled up in an instant. Perhaps it was because he normally kept such a low profile that they all underestimated him; in reality, for him, music, chess, calligraphy, and painting were as easy as pie.

Su Wanxia’s eyes shined brilliantly as she looked at the painting of herself and Mu Yingchen.

She was leaning against Mu Yingchen’s embrace, smiling with her eyes as she looked ahead, while Mu Yingchen faced forward, yet his gaze rested on her.

One had to admit, Na Ersi had captured Mu Yingchen’s demeanor without missing a single detail.

Su Wanxia felt a wave of sweetness in her heart. She still remembered the photograph they took together at school long ago, with Mu Yingchen gazing at her in the same way.

"Achen, take a look..." Su Wanxia said as she picked up the drawing and blew on it gently.

Then, she carefully walked towards Mu Yingchen, who had already stood up.

Mu Yingchen greeted Su Wanxia with a smile in his eyes, tilting his head to look at the painting.

Warmth flickered across his eyes. Na Ersi was a man of hidden depths.

After looking for a while, he couldn’t help but frown and let out a curious "Hm?"

Su Wanxia immediately shifted her gaze to him. "What’s wrong?"

Mu Yingchen pretended to be puzzled and thought for a while, then squinted his eyes and tentatively asked, "Wanwan, have you ever painted a portrait of me before?"

Su Wanxia was so startled that her eyes widened. After the shock, she looked at Mu Yingchen excitedly and said, "Achen, did you remember something?"

Mu Yingchen looked at her somewhat conflicted. "I don’t know. A painting of me just flashed through my mind..."

The light in Su Wanxia’s eyes grew even brighter. "You really remembered? What else is there, anything more?"

Mu Yingchen shook his head in confusion. "That’s all..."

Even though he said that was all, Su Wanxia’s heart was still filled with joy at this moment. After all, he had recalled something, and that meant his memory was gradually awakening. Surely one day, he would remember everything.

"Achen, I did paint a picture of you before..."

"Why did you paint me back then?" Mu Yingchen asked, genuinely puzzled. The reason behind that painting had been explained to him by Mu Chuyang long ago; he just wanted to hear how she would explain it to him now.

Su Wanxia had not expected Mu Yingchen to ask her that; her face momentarily showed a hint of awkwardness, then she composed herself and hummed a response, "Back then, I had just started learning to paint, so I ended up painting you while I was practicing, hehe..."

"Oh, I see..." Mu Yingchen nodded as if he suddenly understood. Yet internally, he thought to himself, ’That’s not the way it was, is it?’

Seeing his reaction, Na Ersi couldn’t help but mentally offer his condolences to Su Wanxia on the side. Encountering such a man with a black heart and lungs, she really was ’blessed’!

"Na Ersi..." Na Wa looked at Su Wanxia and Mu Yingchen and was reminded of something.

"What is it?" Na Ersi looked at her.

Na Wa furrowed her brows and thought for a moment, then slowly and tentatively asked, "Do you know what it means to ’get on the bus before buying a ticket’?"

She truly didn’t understand what her sister meant when she said before that she and Brother Achen had ’gotten on the bus before buying a ticket.’

Now, listening to the two of them talk about the past, she couldn’t help but ask Na Ersi.

Na Ersi, hearing her words, instantly had a full head of metaphorical black lines. Where had she heard these words?

Meanwhile, Su Wanxia and Mu Yingchen, upon hearing Na Wa’s words, couldn’t help but turn their heads to look at her.

Su Wanxia twisted her mouth as she turned her head because she knew the implication behind Na Wa’s question—it was the same phrase she had used with her before they came.

This little girl was truly uninhibited about asking questions. If she had known Na Wa was this curious, she would have explained things clearly before coming, just to see if Na Wa would still have the nerve to ask Na Ersi.

"Wawa... where did you hear that phrase?" Na Ersi asked, his mind immediately drifting to the person most likely to utter those words.

"From Sister Xia..." Na Wa didn’t hesitate to rat out Su Wanxia.

Su Wanxia broke out into a sweat...

Na Ersi had an ’I knew it’ expression. The moment he heard Na Wa utter those words, he immediately thought of Su Wanxia, and sure enough, his guess was spot on.

Her situation with Mu Yingchen could be summed up as getting on the train before buying a ticket.

"Wawa... you just need to hear the phrase without needing to understand it," he said.

"Ay, but I really want to know," Na Wa pestered. "Sister Xia said she and Brother Achen got on the train before buying tickets. I just want to know what it means. Please tell me," she pleaded, swinging Na Ersi’s arm back and forth.

Na Ersi felt double the headache. Of all the things Wanxia could talk about, why did she have to discuss this with her?

How was he supposed to explain to her? Was he expected to just say it was having a baby before getting married?

Watching Na Wa’s persistent curiosity, Su Wanxia felt a torrent of inner turmoil. That little girl’s curiosity was really boundless. If Su Wanxia herself were in the dark about something, she too liked to get to the bottom of it.

"Sigh, it doesn’t mean much, it’s just like having the bun before the marriage..." she said to a clueless Wanwan.

Na Wa was thunderstruck. "Have the bun before the marriage?" She could hardly believe it!

"Mm-hmm..." Su Wanxia nodded.

Then she looked at her resentfully, as if to say, ’I knew you’d have that look on your face...’

Suddenly, two red clouds floated onto Na Wa’s cheeks. She laughed awkwardly, glanced at Su Wanxia, then shifted her gaze to Na Ersi beside her: "Hehe... Na Ersi, let’s pretend I never asked anything..."

Oh my God! She was mortified! She actually asked Na Ersi such a question!

How did this talk of buying tickets and getting on a train get mixed up with having babies? What language was Sister Xia speaking? Seriously!

Na Wa’s heart was filled with remorse; she felt the trio’s gazes upon her were odd, especially Na Ersi’s, which seemed to have a teasing glint.

As Na Ersi watched Na Wa’s frustrated and shy expression, he let out a chuckle, taken with a sudden urge to tease her. He pulled Na Wa closer, his voice gentle, "If you want a child, we’ll have one after we get married..."

"Pff..." Su Wanxia couldn’t hold back her laughter any longer, and her tight cheeks instantly collapsed.

"Ha ha... Na Ersi, can’t you be a little more innocent with her? She’s still young..."

Na Wa’s face flushed even deeper, feeling as though it would start bleeding from the heat.

"I’m not playing with you guys anymore..." she said before turning and running out of the pavilion.

"Look, look, you’ve scared her off now..." Su Wanxia spread her hands looking at Na Ersi.

With a soft laugh, Na Ersi also followed in the direction Na Wa ran off to.

Meanwhile, Mu Yingchen watched Su Wanxia’s retreating back, stroked his chin, and nodded slightly, "Getting on the train before buying a ticket..." The phrase was indeed an apt description of their current situation.
