Chapter 343: Chapter 341 No news is good news_1
Mu Yingchen’s lips curled slightly, "What’s wrong?"
"Nothing much, I just thought you might have remembered something," she muttered softly.
Mu Yingchen chuckled, "When I do remember, I will definitely tell you."
Su Wanxia pouted, "Mhm."
It had already been half a month, with Na Ersi giving him acupuncture every day, and she had also done her utmost to help him recall, but he still hadn’t managed to remember anything, which made her inevitably worry whether he could ever recall the past events.
Na Ersi said that if he couldn’t remember anything after a month, then there was no guarantee when he might be able to remember.
Alas... she couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. He had said before that they were going to get married on this year’s Qixi festival. Now, it seemed, even a marriage proposal was out of the question...
Mu Yingchen looked at her somewhat despondent expression and a stunning smile emerged on his lips.
--
Meanwhile, the Mu Family was enveloped in dark clouds. In the main hall, Master Mu, Master Su, Madam Mu, Su Ran, Father Su, Mother Su, and Yaoyao and Shanshan were all present.
Every face bore a look of deep concern; Shanshan’s eyes were red from crying, and even the corners of Yaoyao’s eyes were slightly reddened. His little mouth was tightly pursed, obviously in a bad mood.
Su Ran let out a small sigh, "I went to look, it’s not them..." During this period, he had been running around almost everywhere looking for Mu Yingchen and Su Wanxia.
A few days ago, a message came from the south that a villager had found a man and a woman by the river. At the time, they were terrified upon hearing this news, fearing it was Mu Yingchen and Su Wanxia.
After much persuasion, Su Ran managed to convince the two old masters to stay calm at home while he took people to check out the situation.
On the way there, his heart had also been filled with trepidation, as it was too much of a coincidence to be a man and a woman.
Finally, when he went to inspect the bodies, he felt as if his own body had stiffened, for he dreaded recognizing the two familiar faces.
But thankfully! It wasn’t them...
While he felt relieved, he also couldn’t help but worry for them. It had been over half a month with still no news. They had searched along the river, but couldn’t even find a shred of cloth. Where could they be? How were they doing?
Master Su, after hearing his words, nodded in relief, "It’s good that it’s not them, it’s good."
"But... it’s been such a long time, why is there no news at all? If they were rescued, they should’ve contacted us to pick them up..." Madam Mu’s voice was choked with emotion.
"Perhaps now, no news is the best news," said Master Mu, his gaze filled with the weight of years.
Su Ran nodded, "Right, if there is no news of them, then it perhaps means they were rescued or they are too badly injured to contact us."
This thought had crossed Su Ran’s mind countless times, and he too wished that Mu Yingchen and Su Wanxia were just as they hoped.
But each time he remembered the dire situation at the bottom of the cliff and Bai Yudie’s mangled body, he couldn’t even convince himself of his own thoughts.
Moreover, with such a high cliff and the river’s rapid and deep currents, would the two of them still be together?
The more he thought, the colder Su Ran’s heart felt---
"We can only hope that they are safe and sound now..." Mother Su couldn’t help but wipe the corner of her eyes, saying with heartache.
Upon hearing her words, everyone silently nodded in agreement – by now, they wished for nothing more than for them to be alive and safe.
--
Two days later, the entire village began to ascend the mountain to pick tea. Once the tea was harvested, they could exchange it for needed goods with neighboring villages.
Because the neighboring village had slightly more convenient transportation than theirs, they managed to transport these items out, but the process was exceedingly difficult.
Su Wanxia also wore a light outfit, with only a red headscarf wrapped around her head. She felt she and Mu Yingchen had been too unlucky recently, so when she saw the colorful headscarves, she resolutely chose a bright red one, saying in her words: "To ward off evil."
Mu Yingchen chuckled softly, but besides being a bit eye-catching, she looked quite good wearing it.
"Wanxia... Are you ready yet?" Na Ersi called out to her loudly from outside the door again.
"Ready, ready..." She glanced at herself in the mirror, checking out the floral dress she had on. There was no helping it, all the clothing here was colorful like this.
"How is it? Not bad, right?" She felt the headscarf on her head looked like something an old lady would wear, no matter how she looked at it.
"Yeah, it looks good," Mu Yingchen nodded in agreement.
Su Wanxia turned around and looked at him skeptically: "Really or not?" She thought it looked hideous.
"Really, you look good in anything," Mu Yingchen blurted out without a second thought.
Su Wanxia suddenly had a face full of black lines, "When did you learn to sweet-talk?"
Mu Yingchen reached out to pull her outside, then as they walked, he said, "It’s not sweet talk, I’m stating a fact."
Su Wanxia couldn’t help but curl her lips into a smile, although aware that his words were laced with flattery, who wouldn’t enjoy hearing compliments, especially when the man she loved praised her like this.
"Hehe, really?"
"Mhm."
"Why are you so slow!" As soon as they stepped out the door, Na Wa, who was carrying a bamboo basket, glared at her with dissatisfaction.
"Even if I had come out twenty minutes earlier, you would still say I’m slow, wouldn’t you?" Su Wanxia retorted with a pout.
Na Wa let out two unnatural hums, thinking to herself how did she know, but outwardly snorted, "You are inherently slow!"
"Alright, alright, I’m slow, I’m slow. Now that I’m out, let’s go..." Su Wanxia took a small bamboo basket from beside the stone table.
Mu Yingchen couldn’t help but reach out to take one and sling it over his back. Just as Su Wanxia was about to shoulder hers and leave, Mu Yingchen suddenly reached out, took hers and hung it on his chest.
The tall and handsome idol suddenly turned into a country tea-picker.
Su Wanxia couldn’t help but snicker. It was amusing to see him like this, with one basket in front and another behind.
"I should carry it..." She truly couldn’t bear to see the idol treated this way.
"No need, let’s just go like this," Mu Yingchen said calmly.
Na Ersi, seeing how Mu Yingchen took such care of his wife, raised his eyebrows in surprise.
Meanwhile, Na Wa huffed with envy on the spot, then without even glancing at Su Wanxia’s radiant smile, she stomped her foot and turned to leave.
Su Wanxia shrugged at Na Ersi, not having said a thing.
Na Ersi let out a resigned smile, followed Na Wa and whispered something to her. Then Na Wa also took off her bamboo basket and hung it on Na Ersi’s chest.
Su Wanxia shook her head with a chuckle. How could this girl be so adorable? Na Ersi was making his feelings so obvious, and yet she seemed oblivious.
Mu Yingchen watched the two ahead, then reached out to hold Su Wanxia’s hand, and with the two bamboo baskets hanging on him, followed Na Ersi and Na Wa as they walked up the mountain.
