Chapter 288: Chapter 286 Dressing Up is to Give Him Face_1

Su Wanxia spent the afternoon at home with her mother, originally planning to have dinner there, but then Mu Yingchen called.

"Where are you?" The voice on the phone was sumptuously deep and extremely pleasant to the ear.

Su Wanxia raised an eyebrow. How did he know she wasn’t at the villa? Could it be that he’d returned? She couldn’t help but look down at her watch—it wasn’t even 6 o’clock yet. He normally wouldn’t leave work this early, would he?

Under normal circumstances, wouldn’t he work overtime past seven?

"At home..."

"Which home?" Mu Yingchen couldn’t help but ask further.

Su Wanxia was speechless. Where else would she be but at her parents’ home? She rolled her eyes and replied, "My parents’ house!"

Hearing these two words, Mu Yingchen’s mood rose to a new level.

"I’ll pick you up later—accompany me to a dinner event."

Su Wanxia’s eyes widened in surprise. Accompany him to a dinner event? Did that really require her presence?

After all, during the time they’d been together, aside from people they both knew, she rarely got involved in his work affairs.

"I’m going?" she asked skeptically.

"Mhm, I’ll call you when I get there," Mu Yingchen said, and then briskly hung up.

Su Wanxia rubbed her forehead in exasperation. What was this about? He could have at least given her a heads-up about attending a work dinner; she had nothing prepared, right?

Would there be enough time?

Just when she was fretting about this, the doorbell suddenly rang. She got up from the sofa with a sense of helplessness and walked weakly to the door.

Upon opening the door, she saw a young man in a suit and leather shoes.

"Excuse me, are you Miss Su?"

"I am. And you are...?"

The man gave a gentle smile. "These are for you, sent by President Mu."

After saying this, he handed everything he was carrying to her. She arched an eyebrow: "Mu Yingchen?"

The man seemed a little unaccustomed to hearing others boldly call his boss by full name, hesitantly nodding in agreement.

"Oh..." Su Wanxia then clearly nodded, quickly reaching out to take the items.

"Thank you..." With a face full of smiles, she thanked him. She hadn’t expected Mu Yingchen to be so thoughtful—she was just worrying about what to wear, and here he was, delivering it. How fitting indeed.

"You’re welcome. This is my business card. If you need anything, feel free to call me anytime."

"Hehe, will do—"

After entering the house, Su Wanxia placed the items on the sofa with great excitement.

Hearing the noise, Su’s mother came out of the kitchen.

"Xiaxia, who was it?"

"Clothes sent by Mu Yingchen. He mentioned a business dinner tonight and wants me to join him," Su Wanxia said, while curiously opening the exquisitely wrapped box.

At first glance, she was dazzled.

Indeed, it was her style.

She reached in and took out a pure white lace evening gown from the box.

The delicate and thin lace of the dress was studded with countless tiny diamonds, and right around the neckline, there was a circle of bright and smooth pearls as decoration, shining strikingly under the light.

Su Wanxia couldn’t help but nod to herself, impressed. She hadn’t expected his taste to be so good—understated yet not lacking in nobility and elegance. He deserved her praise.

"That boy Yingchen, he really has a heart for you," Su’s mother said to Su Wanxia with a smile brimming in her eyes.

Su Wanxia couldn’t help but twist her lips, replying indignantly, "I’m going with him to a dinner, looking good is all about giving him face..."

"You..." Su’s mother couldn’t help but smile.

"That’s exactly what he’s aiming for." Despite her words showing no appreciation for Mu Yingchen’s intentions, she still picked up the clothes and shoes and ran upstairs.

Time was short, and she had to hurry and get dressed.

Watching Su Wanxia’s excited figure dash upstairs, Su’s mother couldn’t help but shake her head and smile, "These kids..."

Half an hour later, Mu Yingchen had already arrived at the Su Family’s villa.

He took out his phone, initially intending to call her, but then he thought that he would soon marry her and take her home. There was no need to call when he was right at the door; he could just go and find her directly.

With that thought in mind, he parked his car to the side, then opened the door, and headed for the Su Family’s tightly closed front door.

It was Su’s mother who answered the door, and after he greeted her, he couldn’t help searching for Su Wanxia as he walked inside.

Su’s mother chuckled, "Xiaxia is upstairs changing her clothes; she’ll be down in a moment."

"Alright, I’ll wait here for her for a bit. You go ahead with your tasks."

Su’s mother had just nodded, but before she could speak,

both heard the sound of high heels from the staircase.

Mu Yingchen couldn’t help but turn to look. At the sight, a shade of amazement swept through his obsidian eyes.

A white lace long dress hugged her delicate and exquisite frame. A small platinum crown adorned her black hair, which was as smooth as ink, falling softly over her round and pale shoulders. Underneath the flowing locks was a face as beautiful and intricate as crystal, especially those eyes, bright and clear, dazzling like stars.

It had to be said that this outfit brought out her elegant charm to the fullest.

Mu Yingchen knew she was beautiful, and her beauty always made his heart tremble.

Upon descending the staircase, Su Wanxia immediately saw Mu Yingchen and her mother standing in the center of the living room. Her eyes lit up, and she quickened her pace, approaching them somewhat eagerly.

"How do I look? Pretty?" she asked, then twirled beautifully before them for good measure.

The long black hair and light skirt traced a beautiful arc with her movement, rendering her stunningly ethereal.

"Beautiful, you look good in anything," Su’s mother chuckled, watching her affectionately.

Su Wanxia giggled, then looked at Mu Yingchen, who hadn’t yet commented, "Well, aren’t you going to say something? Do I look good..."

Her voice involuntarily carried a hint of coquettishness, and Mu Yingchen’s heart softened a bit.

Gazing at her tenderly, he nodded gently, "You look beautiful."

Having received Mu Yingchen’s response, Su Wanxia couldn’t help but smile proudly.

"Well then, shall we go..."

"Hmm."

After bidding farewell to Su’s mother, they both left the house.

"Who are you entertaining that would have you, the big boss, make an appearance?" she knew he seldom attended such events personally, unless it was for significant clients or business partners.

"It’s not a business engagement; it’s a gathering," he replied.

"A gathering? What kind of gathering?" Su Wanxia asked, even more surprised.

"A class reunion..."

"What? A class reunion?" Su Wanxia was astonished.

Since when did he enjoy these group events? She remembered back in school days, when there were activities or reunions, he never attended. What was happening this time, had he changed his ways?

"Yes, you heard right," Mu Yingchen said with a smile as he opened the passenger door and eased her inside.

"Why didn’t you tell me earlier," she said, wishing she could have been prepared mentally.

"I only decided to go today," Mu Yingchen responded, walking to the other side and opening the driver’s door.

In truth, he didn’t enjoy these gatherings. Ji Hua was the one who loved the excitement, and he had been talking Mu Yingchen’s ear off about it all afternoon. So, he simply decided to go, if only to treat it as taking her out to dinner.
