Chapter 256: Chapter 254: The CEO is Forced to Eat at the Night Market_1
Shanshan’s face was suddenly filled with surprise, "Mummy, haven’t you and Daddy had dinner yet?" She had thought they must have eaten since they came back so late.
"Yeah, we were afraid you’d be angry, so we hurried back. Are you touched?"
"Mmm, touched." Shanshan nodded obediently, truly moved. Mummy and Daddy had come back to see her, even on an empty stomach. She shouldn’t be angry with them anymore.
"Mummy, you and Daddy should hurry up and have dinner."
Su Wanxia stretched out her hand and touched the little girl’s head, "Okay, Mummy will go out to eat with Daddy, and you should sleep well at home, okay?"
Shanshan looked at Su Wanxia somewhat pitifully, "Mummy, do I have to sleep by myself tonight?"
Now that Mummy and Daddy were both finally by her side, why did she have to sleep alone?
"Err..." Su Wanxia was at a loss for words. In Canada, by the age of three, both little ones had been sleeping on their own. But these past few days, with Yaoyao not around, Shanshan had been sleeping with her. But today--
Just the thought of sharing a bed with that beast in human clothing behind her, Su Wanxia immediately nodded, "Yeah, Mummy will sleep with you tonight. But by the time Mummy comes back, you’ll probably be asleep."
Mu Yingchen frowned upon hearing Su Wanxia’s words. What about him? Was he supposed to sleep with them too? If it were at his villa or at the Mu Family’s house, that would be one thing, but they were at the Su Family’s now, and since they weren’t married, it wouldn’t be proper to stay together. Sigh, it looked like he was destined to be alone tonight...
"It’s okay--as long as Mummy sleeps with me."
"Alright then, you go to sleep..." Su Wanxia said as she pulled back the quilt.
But Shanshan, seeing her own dad standing to the side, asked in confusion, "Mummy, what about Daddy? Where will he sleep?"
Su Wanxia’s temple twitched, wondering where the little girl’s concern came from.
"Don’t worry, your Daddy won’t be sleeping on the streets. He’ll go back home in a bit. Go to sleep now..."
After hearing Su Wanxia’s words, Shanshan obediently lay down on the pillow. Su Wanxia leaned over to kiss her forehead, and she closed her eyes like a good baby.
Only then did Su Wanxia stand up, turned off the glaring crystal light, leaving only a soft bedside lamp on, and then she pulled Mu Yingchen towards the door.
Quietly closing the door, Mu Yingchen immediately spoke up in displeasure, "Are you just sending me away like this?"
Su Wanxia stepped forward, clicking her tongue faintly, "What do you mean sending you away? After dinner, everyone goes back to their own homes, to find their own moms--"
Mu Yingchen chuckled, "However, I’d rather take you back to my place--"
Su Wanxia glared at him fiercely, cursing in her heart: Pervert!
Then, she tiptoed lightly, gently heading downstairs to see if her parents had gone to sleep, as Su Ran surely must have returned to his place by now.
In the living room, there was no sign of her parents, only the ceiling lights casting a dim glow.
Before leaving, Su Wanxia turned off the lights and quietly locked the door.
Mu Yingchen stood outside, raising an eyebrow, "You’re not planning to come back?"
Su Wanxia huffed, "I’m saving electricity--"
Mu Yingchen laughed softly, "Hmm, good habit-- What would you like to eat?"
Su Wanxia was really hungry, but when Mu Yingchen asked her what she wanted to eat, she couldn’t think of anything in particular.
She gave a long "Hmm," then a spark of excitement flashed through her mind as she proposed excitedly, "How about we go eat some spicy hotpot?"
Su Wanxia suddenly thought of this snack. In fact, she usually didn’t eat much street food, except for the few times she had it with that guy Yan Yirou while studying—it was spicy enough to be satisfying.
Mu Yingchen listened to this unfamiliar yet somewhat familiar name, "Spicy hotpot?" He had to admit, he had never eaten it since he was a child.
"Yeah, how about it?" Su Wanxia nodded.
Mu Yingchen furrowed his brows, "Are you sure that counts as a meal?" What he really wanted to say was, "Are you sure that thing is edible?" but he put it delicately not to dampen her spirits.
"Oh, come on, we can buy some other stuff too. Let’s go, let’s go. You’ve grown so used to eating fancy meals, it wouldn’t hurt to change things up a bit," Su Wanxia said as she tugged on Mu Yingchen’s arm, pulling him toward the gate.
Mu Yingchen had no choice but to follow her to eat whatever this spicy hotpot was.
Driving towards the city center for a while, Su Wanxia, with her sharp eyes, spotted a busy area not far away and immediately asked Mu Yingchen to park the car a distance away.
Mu Yingchen frowned again, "Is it okay to park here?" He had planned to look for a parking lot.
Su Wanxia rolled her eyes, "Mr. CEO, this is a night market; there’s no parking lot. If not here, then where? Look, isn’t everyone else parked here, too?"
Looking around, Mu Yingchen saw indeed a row of cars parked along the roadside, all kinds of vehicles.
Then he looked at the crowded, noisy night market.
Although he wasn’t fond of such places, he thought he’d give it a try for his darling wife. Besides, he had heard the snacks at the night market were quite tasty—was that really the case?
After parking the car along the roadside and getting out, he saw that Su Wanxia had already gotten out of the vehicle and ran towards the market.
It was crowded and loud, and it took him a good while before he finally caught sight of that familiar figure.
Immediately he walked towards her. As he passed by, regardless of age or gender, people stopped what they were doing and looked up at him intensely.
Their eyes all revealed a look of surprise; they never expected to see such a distinguished person here—with physique and looks, no less. My God, was he some rich second-generation heir?
Mu Yingchen felt somewhat uncomfortable with the constant staring and furrowed his eyebrows. He really didn’t like being watched like that, but since he was in a public place, he couldn’t just scare them off with a glance like he normally might.
Finally reaching the familiar person, he arrived just in time to see Su Wanxia paying the bill.
Mu Yingchen turned his head to see bowls of something bright red on the table next to him.
"Are we just eating this?"
Su Wanxia, seeing him coming over, gave a sly smile, then pulled him to sit down at a nearby table.
The table was small, just big enough for two.
This snack bar had seating inside the shop and outside. It wasn’t winter, so it wasn’t cold, and she preferred sitting outdoors, feeling that it was the true experience of eating at a night market.
"You sit here and wait. I’ll go buy some other stuff," she said, and ran off again amidst Mu Yingchen’s hesitant expression.
Mu Yingchen looked at the food in front of him, not sure what to eat—or more accurately, what was okay to eat and what wasn’t. He really had never been to places like this for a meal.
