Chapter 196: Chapter 196: Destined, but not Fated!_1

Mu Yingchen’s brows furrowed tightly upon hearing Su’s mother’s words, then he swiftly got into the car without hesitation, pressed the accelerator, and sped off in the direction Su Wanxia had left in...

The car traveled nonstop, and Wanxia didn’t know how long she was on the road. Her state of mind was dazed; she didn’t know where she was going or what she would encounter after getting there. Everything was unknown, and unknown was somewhat frightening.

Suddenly, the smooth ride came to an abrupt halt with a piercing screech of the brakes.

She lurched forward with the car’s sudden stop---

Su Ran reached out in time to grab her arm, preventing her from falling.

"Miss, are you alright?"

Wanxia shook her head silently. Though she was fine, the incident had given her a scare, and her heart was still pounding heavily.

"What happened?" Su Ran asked, frowning.

"Brother Ran, someone is blocking the car..." the driver in the front respectfully answered.

Su Ran’s brow furrowed even deeper, as he had brought the young lady here and did not want any accidents happening on the road.

Upon hearing the driver’s words, Wanxia immediately thought of Mu Yingchen. It could have been a sixth sense or perhaps a woman’s intuition, but she had a feeling that he had followed them.

Could it be?

Could it be him?

As she wondered whether it was Mu Yingchen who had come, he had already opened the car door and appeared before her eyes.

Her eyes widened in an instant, a flicker of joy passing through them, but more was the sadness...

She saw him, and surely, Su Ran also saw him.

He stared at the figure in front, raising an eyebrow.

Then, with a slight curve to his lips, he opened the door and stepped out of the car.

Mu Yingchen’s gaze, however, didn’t shift towards him; his dark pupils fixated intently on the blurry figure inside the car.

Though the glass made it difficult to see clearly, he knew it was her!

Watching him from inside the car, Wanxia could see everything clearly—the furrowed brows, the tightly pressed lips—all signalled the intense restraint he was exercising at that moment.

Her heart clenched involuntarily; she had thought that even if they didn’t marry, it would be enough to stay by his side.

But the events of the day shattered all her illusions.

The tangled debts of gratitude and grudges between them meant they could never be together!

They were fated—but not destined!

"Wanwan—why didn’t you wait for me!" Mu Yingchen gazed desolately at the person in the car.

The door on Su Ran’s side was open, so Wanxia could hear what he was saying.

As soon as Su Ran got out of the car, everyone from the other cars did the same, surrounding Mu Yingchen’s car and himself in the middle.

They were on a long stone bridge that stretched out of sight. The bridge was wide, flanked on both sides by the endless flow of a river.

Today, being the first day of the lunar New Year, there weren’t many vehicles passing by, but their current situation added a spectacularly dramatic scene to the cold expanse of the stone bridge.

After being encircled by Su Ran’s people, Mu Yingchen showed no sign of change in his demeanor. He seemed as if he didn’t see the people and happenings around him, continuously, quietly staring at Su Wanxia, waiting for her response.

Both parties remained in a stalemate, motionless. If Wanxia didn’t leave the car, Mu Yingchen would continue to stand in front of it, silently gazing at her.

Wanxia closed her eyes, her fingers tightening into a fist, and then lifted a hand to open the car door.

She got out of the car and looked steadily at Mu Yingchen who was close at hand.

"You should go back..." Her voice was very soft and low, but Mu Yingchen heard every word clearly.

Her words were like needles piercing fiercely into his heart.

A look of disbelief flashed in his eyes; he thought she had been forced, but why then did she have such a calm and undisturbed expression?

"Come back with me..." he said stubbornly as he looked at her.

"Young Master Mu, you should go back. Miss won’t be returning with you," Su Ran spoke to Mu Yingchen indifferently.

Mu Yingchen’s eyes narrowed dangerously as he stared straight at him.

"Who are you? What right do you have to decide where she goes!" His voice was cold as frost.

"Does Young Master Mu still remember the favor you owe me from last time? I said I would come to collect it, and now, please don’t obstruct us any longer!" Su Ran made his stance clear too.

Mu Yingchen’s hand clenched fiercely, his veins bulging--

"Anything else is possible, but taking her away, forget it!" Mu Yingchen remained unyielding.

"Young Master Mu, you must be misunderstanding. We’re just taking Miss back home. If you wish to see her, you are always welcome to visit..."

"Heh!" Mu Yingchen let out a cold laugh.

"Taking her back home? Then do you know where her heart’s home is?"

Su Ran suddenly furrowed his brows deeply: "Young Master Mu! Discussing this now is meaningless. Yes, C City is Miss’s home, but it’s not her true home!"

"Wanxia... come back with me!" Mu Yingchen ignored Su Ran, looking at Su Wanxia with utter determination.

No matter what, he had to take her back with him!

Su Wanxia looked at him feebly, her voice ethereal: "Go back... forget me, live well..."

Repressed emotions completely surged out of Mu Yingchen, his eyes filled with hurt.

"Are you going to do the same as you did six years ago..." He stopped abruptly.

"What am I in your heart? Why don’t you ever consider how I feel! I don’t agree with what you’re doing! I don’t agree!" Mu Yingchen completely lost his self-control.

Now, his heart felt like it was about to explode, as if it was going to shatter into thousands of pieces.

"But I have no choice..." Su Wanxia’s voice was low.

"You do! You can come back with me; I’ll take care of everything! You just need to stay by my side---" Mu Yingchen suddenly looked at Su Wanxia with hope, then involuntarily started to step towards her.

"Young Master Mu!" Su Ran suddenly spoke up in a stern voice.

With the fall of his voice, he held a silver gun in his hand and slowly raised it, aiming the muzzle at Mu Yingchen.

"If you take one more step forward, don’t blame me for being rude..."

"Don’t!!" Su Wanxia saw Su Ran aiming the gun at Mu Yingchen, and her heart instantly rose to her throat.

"Su Ran! If you dare hurt him in the slightest, I will never go back with you even if it kills me!!" Su Wanxia suddenly shouted out of control.

She didn’t know how capable Su Ran was, but she knew that he was capable of anything!

"Achen... please go back, don’t be stubborn anymore..." As she said this, tears also fell from her eyes.

She didn’t want any harm to come to either of them. She just wanted them to be alright!

And upon hearing Su Wanxia’s words, Mu Yingchen stood frozen in place, shocked. So she did care for him, so she really had been forced by them---
