Chapter 163: Chapter 163 I Like Them All_1
Mu Yingchen raised his eyebrow, it seemed he would have to let her know before he stepped out in the future, otherwise, always ignoring him like this was not a solution.
"Miss me?" He sat down beside the bed and turned her face toward him.
Su Wanxia curled her lips, "Not at all!"
"Not at all?" he teased with a chuckle.
"Not at all!" she glared at him crossly, her eyes burning into his amused ones.
"When I left, you were sleeping soundly, so I didn’t wake you," Mu Yingchen explained softly.
Su Wanxia felt that her reaction was a bit too strong, and awkwardly uttered a couple of hums, muttering softly, "But you should have told me where you were going. When I couldn’t find you, I didn’t even know where to look..."
Mu Yingchen couldn’t help but laugh. He had left in such a hurry that he had only taken care of explaining to people how to look after her and had forgotten to mention where he was going.
"I left in a hurry and forgot for the moment. How about this, from now on, wherever I go, I’ll let you know in advance, okay?" Mu Yingchen comforted Su Wanxia in a tone akin to placating a child.
Su Wanxia finally nodded obediently, then spoke seriously, "If the company is really busy, you don’t have to stay here all day. I’m almost fully recovered, you---"
"Don’t overthink it, the company’s affairs are being handled by Feng and the others. If there’s anything important, they’ll just bring the documents over," he said, pulling her into his arms.
"Achen, am I being too delicate---" Su Wanxia couldn’t help but murmur in his embrace.
She didn’t know why, but after this injury, she always wanted to see him at every moment, to have him by her side every minute of the day. Otherwise, she would feel an inexplicable sense of panic.
Seeing him was the only way her heart could truly settle down.
"How could that be? No matter what you’re like, I like you," Mu Yingchen’s lips curled up, his long fingers gently stroking her long hair.
He liked her just like this, liked her pampered ways, her willfulness, her dependency. No matter what she was like, he liked her—
After hearing his words, Su Wanxia felt a sense of happiness spreading through her heart.
Having him by her side felt really good—
"Does the wound still hurt?"
She shook her head, "I don’t feel much today. Can I be discharged now?" She looked up at him intently.
Mu Yingchen furrowed his brows, then, amid her hopeful gaze, casually shook his head.
She sighed immediately, "Then when can I? I feel fine. I don’t have any pain anymore, right?"
"Even so, it’s not possible. We have to wait until the bandage is removed and the wound is completely healed before you can be discharged," Mu Yingchen said with firm conviction.
Noticing her reluctant look, he changed his tone, "Or do you want to be left with a scar on your forehead? In that case, it might affect—," he paused.
Su Wanxia was startled; she didn’t yet know how big her wound was. She always thought it wasn’t too painful, so she hadn’t been too concerned. Could it be?
"Is my wound big?" She quickly lifted her head to ask Mu Yingchen.
Seeing how concerned she was, Mu Yingchen felt a bit heartbroken, yet he still said, "Although it’s not very big, the doctor said you need to stay in the hospital for proper treatment and recovery, or else it might leave a mark."
Su Wanxia instantly panicked; what would she do if a scar was left on her forehead?
What did women value most? Firstly, their appearance, and secondly, their figure.
For someone like her who was not vain but still loved beauty, the thought of being disfigured was enough to make her wish for death.
"But what if it really leaves a scar?" She looked at Mu Yingchen with a pained expression.
"Don’t worry, darling, I don’t mind at all," Mu Yingchen, realizing how nervous she was, immediately whispered the comforting words.
"You might not mind, but I do. It’s me who’s disfigured, not you."
Mu Yingchen suddenly felt a surge of frustration; how could one wound be construed by her as disfigurement? Was it really that bad?
But how could he understand a woman’s desire for beauty? Even a simple pimple on her face could cause her great distress, let alone the possibility of a scar on her forehead?
"It won’t ruin—no, it won’t leave any scars. As long as you cooperate with the doctor and follow the treatment, believe me, you will recover to look exactly as before," Mu Yingchen reassured with confidence.
If he had known how anxious she was, he wouldn’t have scared her like this.
The cut on her forehead wasn’t deep; from the moment she was admitted to the hospital, they had already carefully checked, and it definitely wouldn’t leave any scars. Besides, even if it did, he wouldn’t care.
If she cared that much, then they would just get rid of it.
"Really?" Su Wanxia looked at him skeptically, her clear eyes brimming with worry.
"Really!" Mu Yingchen was now regretting using this method to pacify her; he couldn’t bear to see her looking so pitiful.
And besides, it wasn’t a solution for her to keep insisting on being discharged from the hospital. Even in the past, as soon as she felt a bit better, she would demand to leave.
"Come on, don’t look so gloomy. If someone else sees you, they might think I’m bullying you," he teased lightly.
Su Wanxia sighed softly, still wrestling with the thought of whether she would be left with a scar or not.
Mu Yingchen was already regretting it to his core, wondering why on earth he had decided to frighten her with this notion—wasn’t he just making it harder for himself?
"Sweetie, stop worrying. The doctor said we can remove the bandage in two more days, and after applying some medicine, you’ll recover fully," he soothed her.
Upon hearing "recover fully," Su Wanxia’s eyes suddenly shone with hope.
"Did the doctor really say that?"
"Yeah, don’t you believe me? Shall I call him over so you can ask him yourself?"
Su Wanxia finally breathed a sigh of relief. If the doctor really said that, then the chances of a scar were small, right?
"No need~" With a wave of her little hand, her spirits instantly lifted.
Mu Yingchen finally breathed a sigh of relief deep down in his heart.
"The sun is really nice today. How about I take you outside to bask in it a bit?"
Su Wanxia was overjoyed at once. She had been cooped up in the room for many days, truly feeling stifled, and it seemed like ages since she had last felt the sun.
"Sure, sure." She nodded eagerly at Mu Yingchen.
Mu Yingchen smiled indulgently and began to help her get dressed.
A hat, a face mask, a scarf, a down jacket, boots, gloves.
She was just short of a pair of sunglasses to be completely bundled up.
"How am I supposed to get any sun dressed like this?" Su Wanxia complained as she glanced over her attire.
"It’s the coldest time of the winter right now, and with your body being so weak, it’s very easy to catch a cold if you don’t dress warmly—" Mu Yingchen said softly as he helped her walk outside.
Su Wanxia rolled her eyes in resignation, knowing he had a whole list of reasons ready. But he had wrapped her up like a penguin while he himself looked dashing and radiant. Was this really okay?
Once outside the room, Mu Yingchen adjusted her hat to shield her forehead completely, then he smiled contentedly and hooked the corner of his lip: "Let’s go."
