Chapter 149: Chapter 149: The Hand of Conspiracy_1

Mu Yingchen put down the work in his hand and flipped through the files the two of them had brought. Then, said with an expressionless face, "It seems that your work abilities have been declining recently. You even come to me for such trivial matters."

Both of them felt a lurch in their hearts upon hearing this.

"Later, I’ll have to talk to Feng about redistributing some of his unfinished tasks to you both. This way, not only will it reduce his workload but also enhance your work abilities. What do you think?" By the end, Mu Yingchen suddenly lifted his head to ask the two.

"Hehehe," Ji Hua and Mu Chuyang chuckled dryly in unison.

"Good, that’s good," Ji Hua nodded.

"Yeah, I also think it’s quite good, hehe," Mu Chuyang’s expression was close to crying.

Mommy! He was already miserable enough, and now he was about to get more work, he might as well go bang his head against a block of tofu.

"Hmm, if there’s nothing else, you can go back," Mu Yingchen said, tossing their respective files back in front of them.

Ji Hua and Mu Chuyang had no choice but to walk out of the CEO’s office with a gloomy expression, each holding their own documents.

This must be what ’biting off more than one can chew’ means!

After they left, Su Wanxia finally couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

"Haha, Achen, wasn’t that a bit too much? They’re tired enough from their usual workloads," she said.

"If I don’t teach them a lesson this time, what should I do if they barge in like this again?" Mu Yingchen said as he looked at her, speaking slowly.

Su Wanxia’s mouth twitched instantly. Could this man be any more scheming or any more malevolent?

Mu Yingchen looked at her speechless expression and gave a slight smile, "Sweetheart, I want some coffee--"

Grinding her teeth, Su Wanxia responded, "Fine, I’ll make it for you." With that, she stood up and walked out extremely annoyed.

But truth be told, these past few days with Mu Yingchen really had been just like that saying ’stuck together like glue’.

She was almost overwhelmed by the ambiguous looks from everyone.

Ji Hua and Mu Chuyang were deeply stirred by what they witnessed, but they weren’t the only ones.

As Bai Yudie watched Su Wanxia leave the CEO’s office yet again, she didn’t even need to guess her destination; she was certainly off to make him coffee.

Fiercely fixing her gaze on the direction Su Wanxia had gone, her hands clenched so tightly that her knuckles turned white.

No one knew the feeling she had when she saw the two of them brimming with happiness together, appearing inseparable.

The towering hatred within her and the insane jealousy made her wish that Su Wanxia would disappear from this world immediately, vanish completely and forever!

That way, Brother Chen would be hers, and everything of the Mu Family would become hers. Only she—Bai Yudie—could become the sole madam of the Mu Family!

When Su Wanxia returned to the CEO’s office with the coffee, a stunningly beautiful smile spread across Mu Yingchen’s lips.

She walked up to him and placed the steaming coffee on the table.

"Umm, I’ve been thinking, maybe I should go home now—" She steadied her gaze on him as she spoke.

Having been back for two days without visiting home, her parents probably still thought she was in England.

Mu Yingchen arched an eyebrow, pondering for a moment. She had indeed stayed close by his side without moving an inch these past two days; it was indeed time for her to visit home.

"Hmm, I’ll drive you home after work tonight," he said.

"Hmm," she nodded with delight, not expecting him to agree so readily; she thought it would take much more persuasion.

At the same moment, Bai Yudie, on her own, arrived at the storage room, which was filled with office supplies and only accessible by secretarial staff.

She looked around; there was no one else. Hiding in a concealed spot, she took out her phone and dialed a number.

The call was picked up in no time.

Her voice, cold and sinister, began, "Su Wanxia has returned, and the plan is now in progress. Tell those people to keep a close watch these next few days and take action whenever the opportunity arises. Don’t screw anything up!"

"Are you sure about the people you’ve hired? If anything goes wrong, we both won’t have it easy!" Ding Nianzi’s voice came through from the other end of the phone.

Bai Yudie chuckled coldly in her heart before replying with calm confidence, "Don’t worry, the people I’ve found will not disappoint."

"Good! Bai Yudie—let’s make one thing clear, once this is done, we won’t interfere with each other. We’ll each rely on our own abilities for the position of junior madam of the Mu Family!" Ding Nianzi said to Bai Yudie, not showing any weakness.

A sinister look flashed in Bai Yudie’s wide eyes; she slightly narrowed them and, with a slight upturn of her lips, said, "Fine, it’s a deal!"

"It’s a deal!"

After hanging up the phone, Bai Yudie burst into a cold laugh, "Foolish woman!" If it’s a question of abilities, then she was going to show her what true ability was!

In the winter, darkness fell particularly early. Just past 6 o’clock, the sky had already begun to darken.

Wanxia lay on the sofa, idly flipping through a book. She had intended to call home to say she would be back late, but the thought of giving them a surprise repressed the urge to do so.

Looking up, she glanced at the person busy at the computer. Her gaze was immediately glued to him, unable to look away.

Mu Yingchen suddenly looked up, startling Su Wanxia who, feeling a bit embarrassed, averted her eyes.

"Just twenty more minutes," he said to her softly.

"Okay," she replied, nodding her head in slight embarrassment.

Being caught staring was quite embarrassing. Heh heh heh.

By the time Mu Yingchen finished, it was nearly seven o’clock. Before leaving, he wrapped her up thoroughly.

In the weeks leading up to the New Year’s holiday, the air was exceptionally dry and cold. Without sufficient clothing, one could easily catch a cold.

Reaching the parking lot, even Su Wanxia felt like she was in an ice cellar, with the cold seeping into her very bones, grateful that she was dressed warmly enough.

"Are you cold?" she asked, looking skeptically at Mu Yingchen who was only wearing a coat.

"I’m fine."

"You’re fine, so that means you’re cold," she insisted.

"Well, I think wearing this much is just right. Why don’t you feel it?" Mu Yingchen said as he took her hand and placed it against his face.

Indeed, Su Wanxia nodded inwardly. This touch wasn’t normally this comforting; her hand felt warm against it, not cold at all.

Then she started to wonder, why didn’t he feel cold even though he wasn’t dressed as warmly?

"Why aren’t you cold?" she mused, and consequently asked out loud.

Mu Yingchen opened the car door, turned to her, and said, "Exercise more, you could be like me."

Wanxia pulled a face, suggesting she wake up at 5 AM for morning exercise every day? They might as well kill her!

Coming up to her family’s front door. Mu Yingchen suggested she go ahead, but she insisted he leave first.

"I’m right at my doorstep, you go ahead, I’ll see you out," she said half-jokingly.

Seeing her demeanor, Mu Yingchen could only smile helplessly, "Then I’m heading back."

"Okay, bye."

Only when she saw him completely disappear from view did she turn around, full of smiles, and walk towards the entrance to her home.

But after just two steps, someone suddenly came up from behind and covered her mouth--
