Mr. Mu Proposed Again Today -
Chapter 129 - 129 129 Confrontation_1
Chapter 129: Chapter 129 Confrontation_1 Chapter 129: Chapter 129 Confrontation_1 Bai Yudie, sitting beside her, clenched her fingernails into her palm out of sheer hatred. This scene was a huge blow to her, causing her to be unable to accept it momentarily.
But under the current circumstances, there was no room for her to speak, so she could only indulge in self-pity.
Mu Yingchen had managed the first encounter between Su Wanxia and his mother, feeling as if a weight had been lifted from his heart. Whether his mother liked it or not, he had done the deed and given the customary meeting gift.
He wouldn’t allow anyone to look down on his Wanwan, not even his own mother.
“Mom, I need to go to the company now, so I can’t accompany you. You can spend some time here and bond with your daughter-in-law,” Mu Yingchen said as he put on his jacket, speaking to Mother Mu.
Su Wanxia’s heart tightened. If he was going to the company, what about her? Leaving her here with his mother, how could that be acceptable?
“Uh, I should head to the company, too,” she said softly to Mu Yingchen.
A glint crossed Mu Yingchen’s eyes, then as if to console her, he said, “You don’t have anything pressing at the company, just stay at home,” and then he gave Mother Mu a meaningful look.
Su Wanxia’s face registered some difficulty.
“What’s the matter? Are you unwilling even to chat with me?” Mother Mu suddenly spoke up.
Su Wanxia understood the implication in her words, paused for a moment, and could only nod in agreement.
It was time for them to have a proper talk.
Seeing them like this, Mu Yingchen nodded in relief, said a quick word to the two of them, and then left the house.
Once he had left, only three people remained in the spacious living room.
Bai Yudie sat close to Mother Mu on the couch, while Su Wanxia still maintained her posture of seeing Mu Yingchen off, standing not far from the living room.
All three were silent until suddenly, Mother Mu’s voice broke the silence of the room.
“Yudie, have the servants take you somewhere else to look around. I need to speak with Miss Su,” she said.
Bai Yudie was well aware of everything between Mother Mu and Su Wanxia; hearing Mother Mu’s words, she couldn’t help feeling delighted.
If she couldn’t deal with Su Wanxia, surely Mother Mu could, right?
She obediently stood up, nodded her head in agreement, and then with a provoking face, walked past Su Wanxia arrogantly.
Su Wanxia couldn’t help but sneer inside, a gentle and meek white lotus in the presence of Mu Yingchen, but as soon as he left, she revealed her irksome nature.
How could this woman be such a good actress? Why didn’t she go into show business to act?
When Bai Yudie had disappeared from the living room, Mother Mu immediately turned her sharp gaze towards Su Wanxia.
Their gazes collided in midair, one sharp, the other indifferent.
Su Wanxia was indifferent by now; she hadn’t wronged anyone, so why should she act so humbled and apologetic?
On the contrary, it was her!
She’s the one who relentlessly cornered her over and over again!
It was her who should feel guilty towards the Su Family, not her!
Mother Mu was displeased with Su Wanxia’s brazen demeanor and narrowed her eyes slightly, about to say something.
But Su Wanxia shifted her gaze first, then smoothly walked to the couch and sat opposite to her, as if she belonged there, free to do as she pleased.
There was a hint of coldness in Mother Mu’s voice, “Miss Su, don’t you think you ought to explain something to me?”
Su Wanxia’s eyes flickered slightly, and the corners of her mouth curled up a bit, “Explain? What should I explain?”
“Good, very good, you seem to have forgotten our agreement,” said Mother Mu.
“No, I haven’t forgotten. Not for a moment,” Su Wanxia lowered her gaze, looking at the lines in the palm of her hand, her voice somewhat ethereal.
“I resolutely broke up with him to honor our agreement, and then spent 6 years alone abroad—6 years, which really felt like an eternity.”
“Then why did you come back? Why did you break your promise and get back together with Yingchen!” Mu’s mother questioned sharply.
Su Wanxia suddenly laughed, her laughter so full of irony.
“Why come back? My home is here, my family is here, why can’t I come back?”
“Furthermore, I don’t seem to have violated any terms of our contract.”
“You—” Mu’s mother was taken aback by Su Wanxia’s words, her eyes widening slightly.
“However, I would like to ask you, how does it feel to play the good samaritan?”
Mu’s mother’s gaze darkened.
“What do you mean?”
“Heh, you pushed the Su Family’s business to the brink, then used that as leverage to get me to leave Mu Yingchen, didn’t you? Sadly, I found out too late and thought you were our Su Family’s great benefactor.”
“What are you talking about? My helping you was purely to get you to leave Yingchen.”
“I’ve been with Mu Yingchen for so long, why did you not speak up earlier? Why wait until the Su Family was on the verge of bankruptcy to approach me!” Su Wanxia’s sense of injustice began to well up again.
“Because—” Mu’s mother suddenly realized she had been left speechless by Su Wanxia’s retort.
“Because only at that time would I listen to you and obediently sign that contract that involved my entire family!” Su Wanxia shuddered internally every time she thought of that contract.
Finally, she looked up at Mu’s mother across from her.
Her voice was heavy as she said, “So, you orchestrated the crisis that led to the Su Family’s potential bankruptcy!”
Mu’s mother’s expression could only be described as shocked; she had not expected Su Wanxia to guess all this.
And to lay out the facts so clearly—
“Proof is required for such allegations, do you think your wild guesses here prove you are right?” Mu’s mother retorted calmly.
“Haha, evidence? With your power, would you even leave any behind?” Su Wanxia scoffed.
“You’re very smart!” Mu’s mother had to admit Su Wanxia’s cleverness.
“However, you still have to abide by our agreement.”
“I never said I wouldn’t.”
“Then what do you mean by your actions now?”
“It means nothing special, just what you’re seeing,” Su Wanxia replied indifferently.
Mu’s mother felt a rush of anger; things seemed to be slipping out of her control.
“I’ve said, if you violate the agreement, I will show no mercy!”
“When have you ever shown mercy?” Su Wanxia was scornful.
“Are you determined to defy me to the end?” Mu’s mother’s eyes narrowed.
“There’s no defiance. I just want to enjoy some happier times.” She didn’t want to look back on the past filled with nothing but missed opportunities and regrets with him.
“Don’t forget, I’m Yingchen’s mother; I have the right to decide who stays by his side!”
Su Wanxia’s lips curled into a bitter smile.
Indeed, she was Mu Yingchen’s mother, an unchangeable fact. The blame was on herself, for falling in love with a man so perfect, who was so far from her reach yet treated her with infinite tenderness!
Seeing Su Wanxia silent, Mu’s mother continued, “You’re a smart kid. You know what you should do. I don’t want to keep mentioning that contract.”
