Chapter 260: I Want To Marry Him

Chapter 260: Chapter 260: I Want To Marry Him

Rowan nodded and quickly tried to persuade Daniel, "If Camille marries, the Nelsen family will prepare a generous dowry. If not, we’ll still take care of her."

He wanted to assure Daniel that Camille wouldn’t interfere in the family business. He hoped Daniel would be professional and wouldn’t damage their families’ relationship.

"We also know we wronged Ms. Chantelle. We will donate 10 million dollars to the Charity Association as an apology. Please pass our apology to her."

Rowan spoke humbly and seemed sincere. Daniel didn’t agree right away because Chantelle should decide about her charity.

"Mr. Nelsen, you shouldn’t call me to the hospital for work."

"My foot is injured, so I can’t move. Camille was causing trouble, and I couldn’t leave her alone. I didn’t want you to misunderstand, so I invited you here to talk." Rowan explained quickly.

His foot was in a cast. He looked serious and honest.

When he looked at someone with those innocent eyes, it was hard not to trust him.

Daniel wasn’t fooled by Rowan’s look, but knowing the Nelsen family, he decided to trust him.

Suddenly, Daniel’s phone rang, interrupting their conversation.

"Sir, someone broke into the house!" one of his bodyguards reported.

"Are Mrs. Wilson and the kids okay?" Daniel stared at Rowan, alarmed.

Rowan looked at him with sympathy as he heard the exchange.

"They’re both fine. The man was caught right when he broke into Mrs. Wilson’s room. We found nothing on him. He even called the police himself and was taken away."

"He broke into Chantelle’s room? Follow him carefully once he leaves the police station."

"Sir, he vanished as soon as he entered the police station. We followed him the whole time, but even the police couldn’t find where he went on the surveillance. I’m sorry I failed my task. Please punish me."

Daniel hung up angrily. The man was clearly after Chantelle since he went straight to her room.

He must have a contact in the police department. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to escape silently.

"Mr. Wilson, is Ms. Chantelle okay?" Rowan asked, snapping Daniel out of his thoughts.

Daniel deeply frowned. Rowan had mentioned Chantelle more than once this whole time. It was starting to annoy him.

"Mr. Nelsen, do you know my wife?"

"Yes. I ran into some thugs who almost killed me when I arrived here in Easthan. Ms. Chantelle helped me get away. I wanted to thank her in person," Rowan said with a small smile as he talked about Chantelle.

Daniel could tell something was wrong with a simple glance.

Daniel realized he had missed something.

People often said the Nelsen family spoiled Camille, especially her three brothers. They threw big birthday parties for her and gave her rare gifts from around the world.

But the same man who clearly cared about Camille was utterly saying that the Nelsen family wouldn’t allow Camille to interfere with the family business.

Was he just protecting the family’s interests? Or was there something else behind it?

"These are some gifts I prepared for Ms. Chantelle. Could you please give them to her?" Rowan said, signaling his bodyguards.

One by one, they stepped forward with gift boxes.

Daniel looked at them and could tell they were all very expensive.

Whether it was to say sorry or to express gratitude, these gifts were just too much.

"Mr. Nelsen, this isn’t necessary. My wife doesn’t like attention. Even if your intention is purely sincere, it’ll only cause her trouble," Daniel said.

"I still want to do this for her. Please tell her not to take it too seriously. She can keep whatever she likes and donate the rest to charity," Rowan replied.

"My wife only accepts gifts from me. It’s better if you donate all of them instead," Daniel said coldly before walking out of the hospital.

After Daniel left, a man dressed in black silently climbed in through the window and entered the room.

"Did you get it?" Rowan asked, trying to stay calm, though the excitement on his face was obvious.

"Mr. Nelsen, Ms. Chantelle’s room was clean. I couldn’t find even one strand of hair. It’s like she was being careful on purpose."

"Oh... really?" Rowan let out a disappointed sigh. "Go get some rest."

Just then, a soft voice called from outside the door.

"Ro, Ro... Are you here?" It was Camille.

Rowan quietly signaled the man in black to leave.

"What’s wrong?" he asked.

"Ro, I’m scared. Every time I close my eyes, I see that fire," Camille said as she rushed into his arms.

She usually wasn’t this close to her brothers, but tonight was different. She wasn’t just scared of the fire, she couldn’t stop thinking about the man who almost assaulted her.

His sickening smile haunted her, along with the memory of him tearing at her clothes.

Rowan went stiff when she hugged him. He stood there, stunned for a moment, then said softly, "It’s alright now. We’re going back to Carcosa tomorrow."

"Back to Carcosa? I refuse!" Camille said, shocked.

Rowan’s face darkened. "Grandpa was worried when he heard what happened. He told me to bring you home. Camille, you’ve always been the reasonable one."

Camille kept up her act. She lowered her head and muttered, "I haven’t been appointed as the Global Ambassador for Philanthropy yet. I don’t want to disappoint Grandpa."

"Camille, the Charity Association already announced Ms. Walker as their ambassador. There’s no reason for you to stay," Rowan said, trying to convince her.

But Camille had already made up her mind. "Maybe if I stay and keep doing good work, they’ll choose me next year. Ro, I don’t want to fail and give up. That would break Grandpa’s heart."

"Do you want to stay because of Daniel?" Rowan asked her directly.

Even though doubts had started to grow in his mind, he had still spoiled Camille for over ten years.

The thought of doing another paternity test felt too cruel but he had no choice.

He didn’t want to hurt her. But he was also afraid that his suspicion might be true.

Camille’s face turned red. Then, she suddenly dropped to her knees.

"Ro, I’ve never asked you for anything before. Just this once, please help me. I’m deeply in love with Daniel. I want to marry him."

"But he’s married. He has three children," Rowan replied.

"Ever since I came back to the Nelsen family, everyone kept saying I was his fiancée. I always wanted to grow up fast so I could marry him. It’s all Chantelle’s fault! She tricked Daniel into marrying her by getting pregnant!"

She kept going. "Ro, she stole Daniel from me. She should give him back to me."

Camille grabbed Rowan’s pants, crying hard.
