Chapter 140: Chapter 140: Give Me One More Chance

It came with a wireless keyboard, so the user could control the speed and direction easily.

It was perfect for Railer, who couldn’t move around much because of his injuries.

The wheelchair could also be voice-activated. It could recognize the user’s voice and find their location on its own.

That way, the user didn’t have to move to get it.

Philip had even picked a Baymax design to make it look fun and friendly. He wheeled it over to Railer.

Railer’s eyes lit up instantly when he saw it.

Even though it looked cute, it was very useful. With it, Railer could move around on his own and maybe even visit his mom more often.

"Uncle Philip, can I try it?" Railer asked with a voice full of excitement.

When Chantelle walked into the house after finishing things with Calvin, she saw that Kane was the only one left in Philip’s home.

Kane was staring at his phone, grinning. She could tell he was up to something.

Chantelle walked over. "Kane, where’s Rai? Is he in the lab?"

"Yeah, Daddy took lil’ brother downstairs for a check-up," Kane replied.

Chantelle took his arm and led him to the elevator. "Okay, let’s go see them."

Walking with him, she noticed a QR code on his phone screen.

"What’s this QR code for?" she asked.

"It was just a joke I played on Uncle Philip," Kane said, laughing. "But I think I scared him a little."

Chantelle let out a sigh.

This boy was getting more mischievous each day.

Maybe it was time to send him to kindergarten, so he’d have something better to do.

Just as they reached the elevator, the doors opened, and Daniel stepped out.

"The check-up went well. Rai’s fine," Daniel said. He walked up to Chantelle and leaned down to whisper in her ear, "How about you and I make some pancakes for the kids to celebrate?"

Chantelle frowned but didn’t argue. She turned to Kane. "Kane, why don’t you go find Rai first?"

"Since you both don’t want me around, I’ll leave," Kane said with a pout.

He wasn’t upset that Chantelle wasn’t going with him. He was just sad he couldn’t stay and see what would happen next.

Chantelle sighed again and gently pushed him into the elevator.

Taking care of a genius child like Kane was no easy task. She could never outsmart him.

As soon as they were alone, Chantelle looked at Daniel. "Tell me the truth. What do you really want? I doubt you asked me here just to make pancakes. You probably want to talk about the kids’ custody too."

"We’re still married," Daniel said as he approached her. He kept walking until she was trapped against the wall. "That means we raise the kids together. Why would you think anything else?"

Chantelle felt uncomfortable. He was too close to her. She kept her voice firm and looked him in the eye.

"I don’t want to be married to you anymore, Daniel. I thought I made that clear." Her voice was cold. She looked at him like he was just another person. She didn’t feel love. She didn’t feel hate either.

"Why not give us a chance before you decide?" Daniel said, trying to stay calm. "But I’ll be honest—I won’t agree to a divorce. I won’t let our kids be taken away from the Wilson family."

Chantelle glared at him instantly.

"Are you seriously using our kids to pressure me?" she snapped. She was furious at this moment.

He laughed playfully. "It’s good to see you still get angry with me. I don’t care if you hate me or despise me, as long as you stay with me. Okay?"

Daniel pulled her into his arms and whispered near her ear.

Chantelle froze. He didn’t feel like the same Daniel anymore.

This man was desperate. He held her like someone losing control.

She couldn’t understand his behavior.

Was he saying all this because he didn’t want to lose the kids? Was that the reason he wanted her to stay?

"Daniel, let’s not fight anymore, okay?" she said softly. "Even if we get divorced, we can still raise the kids together. You can visit them anytime. You’ll always be their dad. So, can we agree on that?"

Daniel tightened his hold around her arms. "No, we’re not okay," he said firmly. "I’m never letting you go, Chantelle."

"Why? Why are you acting like this, Daniel?" Chantelle frowned. "You wanted me to die long ago, didn’t you? Since now I’m still alive, I’ve never stopped you from seeing the kids. What more do you want from me?"

He held her so tightly that she could hardly breathe. It reminded her of the time she almost died.

Back then, she prayed for a peaceful end, just so she wouldn’t have to face Daniel again. But she survived. Yet now, he had come back again into her life just to ruin it.

Suddenly, Daniel noticed something was wrong and he quickly let her go. She was crying silently.

Seeing her crying made his chest tighten. He felt helpless and defeated.

"It’s all my fault, Chantelle. Please don’t cry," he said, trying to comfort her. "But please, I begged you, give me one more chance. Just one more chance to prove how much I love you. If you still don’t believe me after that, I promise to let you go with our kids."

Chantelle was speechless.

Daniel had never been this soft or this helpless, not even five years ago. He had never begged her like this.

Chantelle took a deep breath. She could see he was already trying his best.

"Are you sure?" she asked.

Seeing her stop crying, he quickly replied, "Of course! Just give me one more chance to prove it, okay?"

"Fine, but you only have three months," Chantelle said as she wiped her tears.

"Deal!" Daniel breathed a sigh of relief. He gently reached out to wipe the tears from her face. But her tears kept falling. He felt it was all his fault.

"I’ll make sure you choose to stay with me, Chantelle. On your own will."

At the same time, Kane, Railer, and Philip were gathered near the elevator shaft, trying to catch bits of the conversation between Daniel and Chantelle.

The house had anti-eavesdropping features, so this was the only place where they might hear anything.
