Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback
Chapter 127: Ruthless As Ever

Chapter 127: Chapter 127: Ruthless As Ever

Daniel wasn’t surprised by Lone Wolf’s demand.

Rescuing Lone Fox from Silver Crest Global District wouldn’t have been difficult for him.

If Lone Wolf was handling this personally, he had his eyes on something bigger.

"You and I both know he doesn’t have much time left," Lone Wolf said in a flat tone.

"Hah! You really are the best killer out there—ruthless as ever. I wonder who made you an offer so tempting that you’d trade your own brother’s life for my shares."

"Nice try, Mr. Wilson, but I don’t fall for bait. I’m a man of principles. I want the money, the power... and the babe. Have you made up your mind?"

"I accept your terms, but we must do this in person. Try anything, and Lone Fox takes a dive off a building for fun."

"Well, well. Quite the devoted lover, aren’t you? Get the equity transfer papers ready in an hour. I’ll send the location."

"Fine, but I need you to do something for me first."

Trapped in the freezing storage, Chantelle tried to move her numb fingers. She reached for her plain ring, fumbling with it.

A tiny diamond, less than 0.05 carats, was set inside. She struggled to dig it out, but her frozen fingers wouldn’t cooperate. Blowing warm air onto her hands, she tried again.

Just as she nearly dislodged the diamond, the truck made a sharp turn. The force threw her against an ice block.

Luckily, she managed to shield her head with her stiff arms before the strong impact.

Leaning against the wall, she took a moment to catch her breath.

When the truck steadied, she resumed digging out the diamond.

Just as she pulled the ring closer to check under the dim light, the vehicle swerved again.

The truck shook violently. Chantelle pressed herself against the side, waiting for the movement to settle.

Just as she regained her balance, another jolt rocked the vehicle.

This wasn’t just a sharp turn.

If her instincts were right, someone was chasing the truck.

She felt an intense hope to escape soon. Calvin must have seen the signal she left behind.

Bracing against the vehicle, she shifted into a half-squat, rubbing her hands together for warmth.

Using the truck’s shaking to her advantage, she positioned her fingernails near the diamond and worked hard to take it out.

The tiny diamond popped out of the ring and landed on the icy floor.

Chantelle quickly grabbed it, wedged it back into the ring’s cavity, and pressed it firmly.

With a soft click, the hidden mechanism unlocked.

She slipped the ring onto her finger and placed the back of her hand against the storage door.

Inside the ring was a 0.5 cm magnet.

Calvin had modified it in the lab. When attached to metal, the tiny magnet’s force increased a hundredfold.

Originally designed for climbing metal structures, but it became useful right now.

Though trapped inside the freezer, Chantelle knew the truck’s outer layer was metal.

It was the perfect condition for the magnet.

She pressed the ring against the door, turning it into a powerful magnet.

Moments later, the sharp screech of brakes filled the air, followed by a loud crash.

The strong magnetic force caused more cars to stick to the back of the truck.

With the weight increasing, the truck was forced to slow down.

The growing line of vehicles caught the attention of onlookers.

Before long, the truck came to a complete stop.

Inside the storage unit, Chantelle heard muffled voices outside.

She tucked the ring away and let out a quiet sigh of relief.

Chantelle collapsed to the ground, completely drained.

As the compartment door swung open, fresh air rushed in.

For the first time, the early winter sun felt warm against her skin.

"Are you okay, Ms. Bently? Your face..." Ashton froze the moment he saw her.

Wasn’t this Mrs. Wilson?

Now it all made sense.

Mr. Wilson was willing to give up all his shares because Ms. Bently was actually Mrs. Wilson.

She wasn’t dead.

The shock was clear on Ashton’s face.

"Oh, you’re right. I’m not dead," Chantelle said. "But why are you here?"

"I’m here on Mr. Wilson’s orders to save you," Ashton replied.

He carefully helped her off the truck and handed her a down jacket.

Chantelle didn’t waste time on small talk. She quickly put on the jacket for warmth.

The cold had seeped into her bones. She felt frozen to the core.

"Where’s Daniel? Where is he?" Her voice was urgent. "And where did that bastard take Kane?"

Ashton hesitated. "Mr. Wilson..."

He took a breath before continuing. "He took the contract and went to Brittin Memorial Garden to meet Lone Wolf. He suspected Lone Wolf would play dirty, so he sent us to search the city for you. Luckily, I found you. Thanks to that strange tailgating incident."

After explaining everything, Ashton carefully guided Chantelle to the heated car.

Now that he knew she was Mrs. Wilson, his attitude became even more respectful.

Many might not realize it, but Ashton had spent years by Daniel’s side. He had seen firsthand that Mrs. Wilson was always the queen of Daniel’s heart.

"What contract?" Chantelle asked, confused. "Lone Wolf kidnapped me, so what did he want from Daniel?"

She couldn’t understand it. She thought Daniel hated her for taking the children away. She even believed he had taken Kane out of revenge.

Why would Daniel be threatened just because she was captured?

Chantelle couldn’t understand it.

"Um... Lone Wolf took you and demanded all of Mr. Wilson’s shares in exchange."

"As shocking as it sounds, Mr. Wilson agreed."

"What?!" Chantelle’s eyes widened in disbelief.

How could she be worth so much to Daniel?

Just hours ago, he wanted nothing more than to see her gone.

As she processed everything, the other bodyguards arrived after capturing the truck driver.

Chantelle quickly noticed something—Lone Wolf was no longer in the truck.

Had he gone to meet Daniel?

That lunatic was unpredictable. Daniel could be in danger!

"Mrs. Wilson, now that you’re safe, I should go help Mr. Wilson. Lone Wolf is handling this himself, and I’m a little worried..." Ashton said.

"I’m going with you!" Chantelle blurted out.

"Um... Mrs. Wilson, Mr. Wilson wants you home once we find you. Kane is waiting for you. You don’t have to worry about him."

"That won’t do! What if Daniel’s in danger? If he really gave up Wilson Group Of Companies, I’d owe him big time. And I hate owing favors!"

"But, Mrs. Wilson—"
