Chapter 291: Chapter 291: I Love You (65)
He hadn’t left the house for many days, but today he drove out as evening approached.
He drove to Xiliang Mountain.
The gate was open, he glanced at it, got out of the car, and went in.
Gu Lili was sitting in the courtyard with her head down, intently embroidering a cross-stitch, and when she heard footsteps, she unconsciously looked up.
Seeing it was him, she put the cross-stitch on the table and then stood up.
"What are you doing here?"
He stepped closer, reached out his hand, and took out her old cellphone, "Returning this to you."
Gu Lili looked at the cellphone being handed over in his palm but didn’t take it immediately, "You could have just thrown it away, no need to make a trip to bring it here, I’ve already gotten a new phone."
He placed the cellphone on the table, his voice hoarse, "It’s yours, after all."
"Thanks for making the trip, the phone is here, now you can leave." She sat back down and continued picking up the needle to embroider the cross-stitch.
Long Yubei’s eyes moved to her hands, and he saw a portrait of a man’s half face that she was embroidering.
Even though he couldn’t see the whole face, he was certain he had never seen this man before.
Thinking of her earnestly embroidering another man’s portrait, Long Yubei felt as though his heart was being hollowed out.
"Who are you embroidering?"
"Is it any of your concern?" she said without lifting her head, "Aren’t you leaving?"
Long Yubei didn’t move an inch, "Bringing the phone was just an excuse, I wanted to see you."
Gu Lili paused slightly, then said indifferently, "Seeing or not seeing, what would it change? Don’t think about reconciling with me, it’s not possible, my heart isn’t with you anymore."
She said it was impossible, she said her heart wasn’t with him—could it be with this man she was embroidering?
Long Yubei felt his chest was about to explode, pain inching through his heart.
He walked up to her, right up to her feet, his hand grabbed the cross-stitch from her hands, Gu Lili pressed down firmly, looked up at him with cold eyes, "I told you to leave, didn’t you hear me? Get lost."
Long Yubei pulled strongly, snatching the cross-stitch into his hands, Gu Lili didn’t attempt to grab it back.
She let him look.
Long Yubei unfurled the cross-stitch, only then clearly seeing the portrait on it.
It was a strikingly handsome man with flowing ink-black hair.
This person, he indeed had never seen before.
But looking at his face and long hair, he furrowed his brows and deeply stared at Gu Lili, "Who is he?"
Gu Lili, to keep him from interfering with her life in the future, smiled slightly and snatched the portrait from his hand, "He’s the son of the Netherworld King, Ninth Prince. He just divorced his newlywed wife and suffered great punishment; I’m now his woman, Long Yubei. He’s better than you, he knows how to treat me well. If he hadn’t saved me that day, I’d have died without a doubt. So, I don’t need you anymore, do you understand? Don’t appear before me again, take back your so-called love, I don’t care for it."
These words pierced Long Yubei to the bone, each phrase deeply hurtful.
Hearing this, his eyes rapidly reddened, "Gu Lili, you..."
"Surprised I moved on so fast?" she smiled radiantly, "Who do you think you are? There are plenty of men wanting me, you think I have to revolve around you forever? Who can’t live without who? Without you, I have much more freedom to choose, I am such a person, Gu Lili. I was decisive in marrying you, and equally so in divorcing you, I have always been able to let go easily, you think I would destroy myself crying over you every day? I would never grieve over you, so, you should find someone new too, you have the right to choose, too—find whatever type you like, how good that would be."
