Gu Annan looked at these, then glanced at Lu Wanwan, who appeared listless with a somewhat pale face.
The appetizing snacks on the table held no appeal for her.
His face showed a hint of tension, his thin lips lightly pursed, as his gaze quickly returned.
He had intended to put away his phone, but after a thought, he typed another line into the search bar.
Ji Shaoyang had been looking at the menu, but when he looked up and saw Gu Annan like this, he tapped on the table and reminded him, "Can’t you stop for a while when we’re eating?"
Seeing that Gu Annan did not respond to him, Ji Shaoyang felt somewhat displeased, "Your wife is bored here, and all you can think about is your work emails?"
"Less nonsense," Gu Annan didn’t even lift his eyelids.
"Wanwan, you’ve worked hard," he finally sighed softly.
It had been said that Gu Annan had turned down quite a bit of work for Lu Wanwan’s sake recently, becoming fully absorbed and racing against time once he entered the work mode.
He probably felt that checking work during meal times could save some time at home for other things.
"Never mind him, let’s order food," Ji Shaoyang said with a light smile, turning to Lu Wanwan, "The hot and sour fish here is pretty good, I remember you eat spicy, right?"
Lu Wanwan nodded, "What about Qiaoqiao?"
Wen Qiao: "I..."
"Change it," Gu Annan interjected blandly, "Don’t order spicy."
Ji Shaoyang: "..."
"I said to order something light. If you can’t understand, I’ll do the ordering."
Ji Shaoyang stopped at that page of the menu, negotiating, "How can you eat all bland dishes? You have to have a couple of strong-flavored ones. This restaurant’s specialties!"
Gu Annan glanced over, "Not even one strong-flavored dish, if you feel it’s a pity, choose another restaurant."
"No problem," Wen Qiao smiled, "I don’t eat spicy either."
Ji Shaoyang, left with no choice, flipped a page and said offhandedly, "A sashimi platter then."
"Change it, order something else," Gu Annan said uncompromisingly, "Order cooked food."
Ji Shaoyang: "..."
Lu Wanwan: "..."
She frowned slightly, puzzled. Had Gu Annan been having stomach troubles lately? She hadn’t noticed.
Perhaps it was just excessive mental and physical labor from work; as Mrs. Gu, she should be understanding.
"Let’s order cooked food then, I don’t feel like eating raw either," Lu Wanwan agreed.
Ji Shaoyang massaged his temples, truly frustrated.
"Let’s go for steamed king crab then," he suggested.
Steamed, cooked, light, yet delicious.
"Change," Gu Annan put down his phone.
He had just gone through a list of foods to be cautious about during pregnancy.
"Reason?" If there wasn’t a reasonable explanation, Ji Shaoyang worried he might lose his temper.
Was this creating trouble?
Had he forgotten it was Qiaoqiao treating? To be so disrespectful.
"Don’t want it, no reason," Gu Annan said.
Being pregnant was just his guess; perhaps he was mistaken, and there was no need to mention it.
But being cautious was good, just in case it was true.
Lu Wanwan might not even be aware of her own carelessness.
"He’s just under a lot of stress from work recently," Lu Wanwan explained, holding her forehead, actually confused by what Gu Annan was doing.
Ji Shaoyang ignored him, asking Lu Wanwan, "Wanwan, let’s eat."
"She can’t either," Gu Annan declared without reason yet assertively, "If I don’t eat, she can’t either."
Lu Wanwan almost wanted to flip the table.
Wen Qiao hurriedly said, "Ji Shao, actually, I... am allergic to seafood. Since none of us will eat it, let’s not order it."
Only then did Ji Shaoyang’s expression brighten up, turning the page, "Alright, we won’t order it then."
