Chapter 406 - Chapter 406 Chapter 406 Lets Get Married (28)
Chapter 406: Chapter 406 Let’s Get Married (28) Chapter 406: Chapter 406 Let’s Get Married (28) This step was too risky for Ji Jiaming.
Ji Jiaming, whom Ji Shaoyang had mentioned before, was a person who held grudges and sought revenge, but he was not someone who would gamble with his own downfall for the sake of it.
The final car accident didn’t reveal a single flaw, only casting a tiny bit of doubt.
If the case closed like this, it seemed as though something was missing.
Even if it was just a gut feeling, he didn’t want to let go of the investigation and had secretly sent someone to continue tracking the matter.
But on the surface, all was finally calm.

Gu Mansion.
Gu Annan ended a video conference and stood up from his chair, holding a cup of coffee in his hand.
A few days of rain had ended, and sunlight poured in from the window behind him, casting its glow upon his shoulders.
This week, he hadn’t gone to the company at all.
Since the passing of Mrs. Ye, Lu Wanwan had been somewhat despondent, but she hadn’t become completely disheartened as he had feared.
Yet, amid her despondency, for the first time, he discovered she had developed an unprecedented dependence on him.
Even waking up and not seeing him made her urgently want to find him, only appearing to be okay once she did see him.
Ji Shaoyang, who had taken a few psychology courses in college, told him that Lu Wanwan might be experiencing psychological trauma, where new wounds had reopened old ones, and what she needed was not him but a reliable psychologist.
Thinking of these things, Gu Annan unlocked his phone, a faint smile emerging in his eyes.
He turned and placed the coffee carelessly on the table, then sat back down at his desk and connected his phone to the computer.
On the computer screen was the actual image of a pair of rings, designed by a top European designer.
He had ordered them a week ago, demanding that they be custom-made in the shortest time possible, and now they were on their way to China.
Gu Annan was looking at them when suddenly he heard the sound of the study door being pushed open.
He quickly closed the image and looked up.
Lately, he often held video conferences while Lu Wanwan took her afternoon nap.
She would come in whenever she woke up, having progressed from the initial cautious knocking, afraid to disturb his work, to now pushing the door open directly.
“Had another nightmare?” he asked, casually shutting down the computer, his long legs lazily crossed.
Lu Wanwan didn’t look too well, her hair slightly messy from just waking up, and her delicate face noticeably thinner these days.
“No,” she shook her head, looking at his computer as if he was in another meeting, “You continue with your work, I’ll go out.”
She had woken from a nightmare again, not sure how many times it had been this week.
Every time she woke in alarm, all she wanted to do was to find him first, even just to see that he was still within close proximity.
“Wait,” Gu Annan said without changing his posture, “Come here.”
Lu Wanwan walked over and he scooped her into his arms, sitting her on his lap.
“The same dream?” he asked, his deep black eyes gazing at her, Ji Shaoyang’s words surfacing in his mind once again.
Lu Wanwan bowed her head, leaning against his chest, avoiding his gaze, “No.”
It was just a nightmare, and Gu Annan had already wasted a lot of time because of her.
Gu Annan remained silent for a moment, his hand circling her waist, fingers intertwining with hers unconsciously.
Lu Wanwan looked down at their entwined fingers, suddenly making up her mind, she raised her head.
He was about to speak when he stopped.
Seeing her clear eyes meet his, her frail voice trembled slightly, “Gu Annan, let’s… let’s get married!”
