Chapter 271 - Chapter 271 Chapter 271 BOSS is Heartbroken (3)

Chapter 271: Chapter 271 BOSS is Heartbroken (3) Chapter 271: Chapter 271 BOSS is Heartbroken (3) One was their director, Kevin, the other was around thirty years old, looking refined and aristocratic.

“Mr. Jiu is really too polite, coming all this way for such a trivial matter.” Kevin’s Hong Kong-Taiwan accent was distinctly recognizable, although Lu Wanwan had heard he was from the Northeast.

Jiu Rong nodded slightly.

His gaze startled when he saw Lu Wanwan, blurting out, “You… you’re not…”

“This is our company’s new intern. Do you know her, Mr. Jiu?” Kevin asked, puzzled.

Lu Wanwan was just passing by, but now she had to stop, her gaze filled with confusion.

“Ahem…” Jiu Rong realized his gaffe and coughed lightly, “Sorry, I mistook her for someone else. Her profile, just now, was very similar to that of a… relative of mine.”

Kevin gave a sycophantic smile, “To be even slightly similar to Mr. Jiu’s relative is a great fortune for her.”

The corner of Lu Wanwan’s mouth twitched, what a sycophant.

She had no idea who this person was for the director to flatter him so.

“Director, if there’s nothing else, I’ll just…” She gestured towards the elevator, “head downstairs first.”

Kevin looked at Jiu Rong, unable to ascertain whether he had truly mistaken her for someone else or if there was some other implication.

After all, this new intern was beautiful, and these men, well, their eyes tended to linger on her a bit longer.

“It’s fine.” Jiu Rong hurriedly chuckled, scared to cause her any trouble, “I’m so sorry for frightening you. I really just mistook you for someone else. If you’re busy, don’t mind me, just go on with your work.”

“You’re too kind,” Lu Wanwan felt oddly baffled as she entered the elevator.

Kevin frowned slightly, Jiu Rong, with his status, even if he were always modest and approachable, wouldn’t have that kind of… ingratiating tone.

As he was thinking, Jiu Rong turned to him, “When did she join your company?”

His tone reverted back to normal, and Kevin was sure Jiu Rong felt differently about that particular intern.

“She just started today.”

Jiu Rong pondered for a moment; Lu Wanwan, the girl who had tormented him for half a month, had actually come here.

She probably had no idea who he was; he had only seen her from afar at the engagement banquet.

But she must be unaware that he was the mysterious investor behind Zui Entertainment.

Because of her, this intern, he, Jiu Rong, had received countless threats and made numerous absurd demands of his subordinates.

“It’s nothing, just asking,” Jiu Rong said indifferently, “Just drop me off here; I can go down by myself.”

Kevin nodded and bowed, “Take your time leaving.”

He would have to keep a closer watch on Lu Wanwan, maybe she could be of some use in the future.

Jiu Rong stepped out of the Nanyi Weekly building, where a silver-blue sports car gleamed under the sunlight.

He quickened his pace and got in, buckling his seat belt promptly, “Let’s go, to avoid being photographed.”

The driver, donning a hat, sunglasses, and a scarf, still had a face that looked familiar to those who saw him.

“Right, Lu Wanwan is here.”

Bai Lingyun, driving the car, slightly faltered, then smirked, “Wasn’t she said to be unemployed?”

“I also found it strange. When I looked into it, indeed, almost no media companies were hiring her. I just asked, and it turns out she started just today.”

Bai Lingyun said nothing, driving leisurely.

“Lingyun,” Jiu Rong looked at him flatly, “Why do you care so much about Gu Annan’s fiancee?”

“She is no longer Gu Annan’s fiancee,” Bai Lingyun reminded him.

“If it weren’t for your call that day, I wouldn’t have let her go so easily. Fortunately, Gu Annan didn’t say much later, or I wouldn’t know how to explain it,” Jiu Rong remarked.
