Mr. Bo, Madam Is Pregnant! -
Chapter 82: Each Other’s Vulnerability
Chapter 82: Chapter 82: Each Other’s Vulnerability
Su Lu only now realized the situation as she widened her eyes, blinking.
"Oh wow, that’s quite the spectacle."
Jiang Li really is a terrible wingman.
Jiang Li himself felt a bit embarrassed, obviously not expecting such a grand scene either.
No wonder Bo Jingshen looked so grim.
Jiang Li quickly changed the subject, asking, "Where to now?"
Bo Jingshen then turned his gaze to him and said deeply, "What, scared I might take you out to be buried alive? Don’t worry, with Jiang Su here, that won’t happen."
Jiang Su said with a smile, "Let’s go have a meal."
Jiang Li hurriedly said, "I’ll treat, I’ll treat."
Then he whispered to Bo Jingshen, "Brother Shen, can we take down these banners first? They’re quite an eyesore."
Su Lu sat quietly off to the side, her gaze inward, as after all, having Jiang Li as a teammate to attract the fire was the best thing that could happen for her.
She stole a careful glance at Bo Jingshen and was met by his gaze.
Su Lu blinked and softly called out, "Ah Shen, I..."
Bo Jingshen looked at her askance, "I’ll talk to you about it later."
Su Lu could only obediently nod with her head bowed.
Yet, she was actually in quite a good mood, except for a faint pain in her lower abdomen.
She pursed her lips and endured it on the way, but her complexion gradually became worse.
She had thought they were going to a restaurant, but it seemed like they had driven into a residential area instead.
Jiang Li was taken aback and frowned, murmuring, "Why not eat out...?"
He sounded somewhat reluctant.
Jiang Su said, "What? You don’t plan to go home?"
"I..." Jiang Li didn’t say anything, just frowned.
Su Lu, watching him like this, didn’t know why, but she felt she could understand how Jiang Li felt at the moment because she herself had never wanted to return to the Su Family, preferring to eat outside alone rather than go home.
But what was hard to understand was that she felt this way because she wasn’t really a part of the Su Family, but why did Jiang Li feel the same?
Jiang Su said, "Come on, the parents aren’t there. It’s not good to eat outside all the time. The housekeeper has prepared your favorite dishes; you should come home and have a look, right?"
Jiang Li’s resistance seemed to lessen quite a bit.
Bo Jingshen quickly noticed that Su Lu’s complexion was looking bad. Even though he was still upset with her for fooling around with Jiang Li, he reached out to support her as soon as they got out of the car, asking in a low voice, "What’s wrong? You’re pale. Are you really worried I might scold you?"
Su Lu curved the corners of her mouth, forcing a shake of her head, "No, just... not feeling well, a bit... car sick."
It wouldn’t be good to say that her time of the month was approaching, especially since this was a visit to the Jiang Residence.
Bo Jingshen gave the driver a cold glance, prompting the driver to quickly bow his head in apology.
Su Lu silently apologized with her hands together in her heart; she truly felt sorry for the driver.
She followed them into the Jiang Residence.
Perhaps because there were no elders around, Su Lu wasn’t restrained. The Jiang Family’s estate was quite large, with two three-story Western-style buildings, one in front and one in back. The front building housed the living room, dining room, parents’ bedrooms, and so on, while the back building was where the brothers’ bedrooms, study, gym, and other rooms were located.
Jiang Li showed Su Lu around the house, coincidentally leaving Bo Jingshen and Jiang Su to chat in the living room.
Su Lu could tell that Jiang Li simply wanted to avoid any lecturing that his elder brother might have in store.
"How about we just sit in the backyard for a while?" Su Lu suggested.
Jiang Li immediately nodded, clearly not very enthusiastic about giving tours in the first place.
Su Lu wanted to ask, but felt it impolite to pry into someone else’s family matters so abruptly. After pondering, she could only begin by talking about herself, "I might not return to the Su Family even once a year."
Jiang Li looked at her, "But you have a valid reason, having been oppressed by Su Yukan for so long, even a clay Buddha would develop anger. Yet for me, in everyone’s eyes, I never have a valid reason; I am always wrong."
Su Lu smiled and said, "I am the daughter picked up by the Su Family, so I get oppressed by Su Yukan and therefore don’t wish to return to the Su Family. So, why is it for you?"
Her straightforward mention of not being her parents’ biological child actually took Jiang Li by surprise.
Thus, Jiang Li didn’t hold back and said with a smile, "Even being a biological son, what of it? I still can’t do what I want to do, can’t choose the life I want to live, can’t choose the person I want to love. A home like this is like a cage. My brother is trapped here yet finds it sweet; I don’t want to be trapped for a lifetime."
Su Lu thought of an old saying; indeed, every household has its own difficult challenges.
Meanwhile, Bo Jingshen and Jiang Su weren’t really chatting much in the living room. After Jiang Li took Su Lu out back, Jiang Su’s expression had been somewhat grim the whole time.
It was Bo Jingshen who broke the silence, "You can’t possibly bind Ah Li like your parents did forever."
Jiang Su’s lips were tightly pursed, his eyes narrowed, and his gaze was deep, indeterminately dangerous.
"I thought he had given up long ago, but I didn’t expect him not to have lost hope yet. God knows how he found that kid, and tricking you into the investment project might just be a ruse. It turns out we were both really fooled by this ruse," Jiang Su said gravely.
Bo Jingshen raised an eyebrow, "I wasn’t fooled, and he didn’t trick me. I’m not as concerned about these things as you are. He came to me with an investment project, and I found it feasible. It was also a good time to give Su Xiaolu some business, so I agreed. No complications."
Bo Jingshen was well aware of the unspoken truths that Jiang Su wouldn’t talk about.
He naturally understood the issues between the Jiang Family brothers, especially Jiang Li. Because Jiang Su led quite a boring life without much to trouble him, but Jiang Li has had his own issues in the past. Bo Jingshen was pretty much aware of them all, but since Jiang Li didn’t want to mention them, Bo Jingshen couldn’t be bothered to ask.
Jiang Su took a deep breath and said, "Did you see that kid today? Ah Li obviously went because of him! And that esports project... it’s all a facade. I was negligent. I just followed through with the investment without investigating in advance. If I had known he was doing it because of that kid, I would have never agreed to the project."
Bo Jingshen gave Jiang Su a sidelong glance. Both were cunning as ancient foxes; neither should try to outsmart the other.
So Bo Jingshen spoke simply and directly, "Jiang Su, I have invested in this project, and Su Xiaolu is quite dedicated and heartfelt about it. If you really don’t want Ah Li to get involved, then you should pull your brother out of it. But don’t start tampering with this project to make your brother back off. I won’t stand by and do nothing."
Normally, they were friends, even quite good ones, helping each other most of the time and even cherishing each other’s company.
But each had their own vulnerabilities.
Even among friends who help and cherish one another, some lines cannot be crossed.
Jiang Su was silent for a few seconds, then nodded, "Understood."
Bo Jingshen also fell silent for a few seconds, very uncharacteristically, and finally said, "If you don’t want Ah Li to keep his distance from you like he does with your parents, then it’s best not to trip him up over this matter."
