Chapter 99: Chapter 99: He Didn’t Say Much
Ye Yan spoke with impatience, "Just say what you want to say."
"The doctor you introduced me to last time called me today and told me there’s a cyst on my kidney."
"As long as the kidney function isn’t affected, you generally don’t need treatment for a kidney cyst. I’ll inquire about the specifics, so just don’t worry about it."
Ye Jian’an was somewhat anxious, "Should I be hospitalized for observation first?"
"There’s no need, I’ll let you know if anything comes up," Ye Yan’s phone in her pocket buzzed once, "Is there anything else?"
"No, nothing else, you go ahead."
After Ye Jian’an finished speaking, he turned to leave.
"Do you have enough money?" Ye Yan suddenly stopped him.
Without waiting for Ye Jian’an to reply, she took out her phone, "Open your payment code."
Ye Jian’an hesitated for a moment but eventually handed over the code. After receiving the transfer from Ye Yan, he thanked her repeatedly, "Ah Yan, don’t worry, I’ve stopped working at Xiao Zhun’s school gate."
"What are you doing now? Gambling again?"
"No, no," Ye Jian’an hurriedly waved his hands, "I have a way to make money."
Ye Yan didn’t want to know what his method was. After putting away her phone, she said, "I’ve made it very clear to you. If you gamble again, I won’t pay off your debts. At worst, you might get chopped up, but only if you can handle it. Also, if you’re involved in illegal activities, I won’t get you a lawyer or protect you. Someone like you belongs in jail."
"I know, I know, I won’t cause any more trouble, Ah Yan, you rest easy."
Ye Yan couldn’t stand to look at her biological father any longer. After saying her piece, she turned and walked away.
Ye Jian’an looked at his phone, delighted by the added balance, a satisfied smile spreading across his face.
No matter how much Ye Yan hated him, they still had an unbreakable blood relation; she wouldn’t truly abandon him.
Besides, he still had Ye Zhun. Once Ye Zhun grew up, he could rely on his good son.
Just as Ye Jian’an was about to leave, he suddenly spotted a familiar figure swiftly passing by the outpatient entrance.
"It couldn’t be her, could it?" Ye Jian’an put away his phone and hurriedly followed.
The outpatient department was packed with people queuing up to see doctors.
Ye Jian’an tiptoed through the crowd and finally spotted the person at the gynecology registration.
He squeezed through the crowd to get a closer look.
Perhaps sensing the unfriendly gaze, the woman in line suddenly turned around, and their eyes met.
The woman’s eyes widened, and without waiting in line any longer, she grabbed her bag and ran.
At that moment, Ye Jian’an was more certain than ever that this woman was Luo Zhen.
He had met Luo Zhen in a fishing village in Hong Kong when he went there to buy seafood. Luo Zhen’s family was poor and she had just had two children. Accidentally running into Ye Jian’an, who was quite wealthy back then, they had a fiery affair and ran away together.
But the good times did not last. Ye Jian’an, who had developed a gambling addiction, quickly lost all his earnings, and Luo Zhen had left with another wealthy man, taking all the valuables from the house with her, never to be heard from again.
Ye Jian’an had once searched everywhere for Luo Zhen, later hearing she went inland with a big boss.
Unexpectedly, he would find her in a hospital in Ao City.
Luo Zhen was once as beautiful as any Miss Hong Kong, and even now, though older and more ordinary in dress, she retained an extraordinary presence.
"Luo Zhen, I know it’s you," Ye Jian’an cornered her in a hallway, "Why are you running? Feeling guilty about what you did to me back then?"
Luo Zhen looked at him expressionlessly. "Ye Jian’an, we are settled now. Stop bothering me."
"What a joke, I just saw you. When have I bothered you?" Ye Jian’an sized her up, "It seems you haven’t been doing very well since leaving me, dressing so poorly. I saw you registering at the gynecology, did you catch some shameful disease?"
"Shut up." Luo Zhen, irritated, glanced around to ensure no one was close before whispering, "If it weren’t for your gambling addiction, why would I have left with another man? It’s all your fault. Let’s just pretend we don’t know each other now, and leave each other alone."
"I don’t mean to bother you." Staring at Luo Zhen’s face, Ye Jian’an’s eyes reflected the image of her once stunning beauty, which even in tattered clothes couldn’t hide. Now older, her allure was still evident, "Ah Zhen, are you alone now?"
Ye Jian’an was handsome, and when he spoke softly, he could melt hearts.
Luo Zhen had initially been attracted by his looks and sweet words, "What do you mean?"
"I’ve stopped gambling now, and I’ve even started a seafood store. If you’re willing, we can start living together again." Fearing Luo Zhen wouldn’t believe him, Ye Jian’an took out his phone to show her the recent transfer, "Look, I can make money even when I’m not in the store."
Luo Zhen looked at the transfer information, then back at him, skeptical.
She knew exactly what kind of man he was, but her current situation was tough. Her son didn’t recognize her, and her previous boyfriend was unemployed and fond of drinking and hitting her, not to mention unwilling bloginfo to cover her medical expenses.
Whether Ye Jian’an was telling the truth or not, it was worth considering for her.
At her age, it was hard to find someone else.
"I’ll take you to see a doctor first, and after the check-up, you can consider my proposal." Ye Jian’an took Luo Zhen’s bag, "My daughter works at this hospital. I know a director here, let’s go see him."
Luo Zhen, hearing that Ye Jian’an’s daughter worked at the hospital, let down her guard and obediently followed him.

Fu Xingzhou was in a meeting when his bodyguard’s phone call came through.
The bodyguard wouldn’t call him unless it was urgent.
"Mr. Fu, Ye Jian’an went to the hospital to see your wife."
Fu Xingzhou tensed, "When, and where is he now?"
"Half an hour ago, he later went to the outpatient hall; I didn’t follow him after that. Just now, I saw him coming out alone and going home."
"Keep a closer watch on the seafood business, continue following."
After hanging up, Fu Xingzhou’s expression was grim, but the panic from hearing Ye Jian’an had gone to see Ye Yan had mostly faded by then.
Ye Jian’an probably hadn’t said anything; otherwise, Ye Yan would have contacted him already.
The phone was calm; she had even sent him a photo of a document she was reading five minutes ago.
It was he who was being paranoid.
Fu Xingzhou typed on his phone, "You mentioned a performance at the orphanage, when is it?"
The orphanage performance was a welfare show arranged by the relevant departments before the Chinese New Year.
Ye Yan’s dance studio had a collaboration with the orphanage, and they had been rehearsing for this performance. She hadn’t expected Fu Xingzhou to join her.
Wasn’t he supposed to be traveling inland today?
