Chapter 295: Chapter 294: The Cricket-Catching Part-Time Cat, the Dull-Cute Little Wolf!

The farm had gotten a little wolf.

Early in the morning, after Xu Yang got up and had nothing much to do, he decided to go for a morning run.

The road to the farm was still a sandy one, quite wide and compacted; even in the rain, it wouldn’t become muddy.

Further out, it turned into a mountain path paved with stone slabs.

He intended to circle around the farm for his run, as running on flat land was relatively more comfortable and didn’t hurt the knees.

He changed into his sportswear and called over four puppies.

At this time, the most excited was surely Maquan, which required a lot of exercise.

Little Black also seemed very happy; after all, it enjoyed running as well.

As for the Husky, it was purely lazy, reluctantly shuffling its small steps. When it reached the farm’s gate, it refused to continue any further.

It just stood there, watching Xu Yang go farther away.

Little Ha: Just a token gesture is enough since we’re all just toiling away, why push so hard?

The little wolf was actually excited, even though it had just arrived, but it quickly integrated into the big family of dogs.

Its small steps were impressively fast as it followed along for the run.

Xu Yang was in great physical shape, but usually, dogs were stronger than humans, especially the likes of Maquan and Border Collies who loved to run, and could easily surpass people.

Xu Yang was seen jogging slowly, while Maquan dashed out quickly and then zipped back just as quickly. Little Black followed at an unhurried pace, with the little wolf falling behind, trying hard to keep up.

But that was fine, because Xu Yang was running a big loop.

When he circled back, he’d be able to see the little wolf.

The little wolf was still young and could only follow from behind, but once it grew up, it could easily join the run.

Occasionally running was quite comfortable. Xu Yang thought about participating in a marathon when he had the chance.

To be fair, when it came to stamina, Xu Yang was truly impressive.

The average person couldn’t outrun him.

It was already July, the hottest time of the year.

With this kind of weather, you really didn’t want to go outside during the day.

The scorching sun.

You just wanted to stay in your room and rest.

Because the farm was close to the mountains and was in the dry Northern region, the house was very cool inside.

As soon as you entered the house, you’d feel comfortable.

That’s how Northern exposure was, as long as you were in the shade, it would be cool.

By noon, all the little creatures on the farm had found shady spots to cool off.

The Sika Deer had run into the horse pen.

The pigs were sleeping deeply, sprawled on the ground.

The geese stayed inside their house and wouldn’t come out.

This side was relatively quiet, with crickets chirping non-stop, which could be annoying to listen to.

Xu Yang was lying on a lounger in the shaded area of the courtyard.

He found the crickets’ chirping loud and disturbing, so he went over to the greenhouse to call Sang Biao over.

Sang Biao, thinking there was some treat in store upon being called, trotted over with a cat’s grace.

The creature still carried a demeanor of aloofness.

Xu Yang picked it up and returned to the courtyard, pointing in the direction where the crickets were making noise, and said,

"Over there, crickets, they’re a bit noisy, get rid of them."

Then, Xu Yang put the Tabby Cat down on the ground.

Go on, Pikachu.

The Tabby Cat was obedient, immediately on alert and headed towards the direction of the crickets upon understanding Xu Yang’s command.

Cats had excellent hunting skills.

Humans might spend a long time searching for a cricket without success, but it was different for cats.

Sang Biao gradually approached the cricket, and feeling the killing intent, the cricket stopped chirping.

But it was already too late.

Sang Biao pinpointed its location, swiped with its paw, and bit down in one mouthful.

The courtyard instantly went silent.

"Good job, you can go."

Xu Yang lay on the lounger, preparing to take a nap.

Sang Biao, after eating the cricket, then with the jingle of two little bells, sauntered off slowly.

The afternoon in the courtyard was exceptionally languid.

Xu Yang lay down to sleep on the lounge chair, while three dogs, a little wolf, and a raccoon all sprawled out in the shade to sleep.

The Maine Cat was on the cat tree, not asleep, just resting quietly.

And there was the Red-crowned Crane, sprawled out in a shady spot, sleeping soundly too.

Everyone in the courtyard seemed to be under a spell of deep sleep.

It was exceptionally quiet.

The gate was open, allowing breezes to waft in, bringing a touch of coolness to Xu Yang and the little ones.

The other staff members were also napping; on such a hot midday, it was impossible to work in the fields.

Life on the farm was comfortable indeed.

It wasn’t until around three in the afternoon that Xu Yang woke up.

He glanced at his watch, "It’s already three o’clock, time flies."

"I won’t be able to sleep tonight."

"Play games for a bit longer then."

Xu Yang thought to himself.

He stood up, feeling a bit stiff.

That’s what happens when you sleep too long.

Time for a bathroom break, and then to drink a big glass of water, feeling the hydration enter his body and merge with his cells, gradually relaxing.

And the more it went on, the more comfortable he felt.

Full of energy after a good sleep.

The dogs had gotten up as well and were just lying beside him, waiting.

These fellows had woken up an hour ago, checking every so often to see if Xu Yang had gotten up.

If he didn’t, they’d just play by themselves for a while.

Now seeing Xu Yang up, they immediately gathered around him.

The little wolf had perfectly integrated into the dog pack.

If it had been the only one cared for, the little wolf might have still been fearful or even resistant.

But with three older brothers around, it saw itself as one of the dogs and had no problems at all.

Little Wolf also knew that Xu Yang was the boss of the farm.

This little wolf had a rather high charm value, and Xu Yang planned to train it well to make its temperament more gentle.

In fact, wolves are quite tameable, with Xizang’s internet celebrity wolf being a case in point.

There was also a woman who raised many wolves and sometimes entered the wolf pen to give the Wolf King two B-shields to monitor the other wolves.

The Wolf King was always obedient as well.

"Want to go out and play?"

"Come on, let’s go for a stroll."

Xu Yang wasn’t doing anything else, so he decided to take the dogs out for a walk.

He intended to catch a few fish by the river and then go home to have Mrs. Xu fry up some fish sauce for a good meal.

So, Xu Yang casually brought a net and a red bucket as well.

He didn’t have much time for fishing, and carrying a net was more convenient.

If he saw fish, he’d catch a couple; if he didn’t, no big deal.

As Xu Yang headed out, the three dogs and the wolf followed.

On the way, they ran into the Earth Dog Gang of the village.

They looked over, wanting to invite Little Black to play with them.

But Little Black turned them down this time since he needed to follow Xu Yang.

The little guy was quite busy, after all.

The Pasture Dogs, seeing Little Black walking away with his owner, scampered off on their own.

On the road, Xu Yang saw an old man from the same village herding a cow, slowly making his way on the path.

The old man’s cow had been raised for many years.

He had talked about selling it before but couldn’t bear to part with it, so he kept it.

The cow was old but had a mellow temperament and was sensible.

It lived happily every day with the old man.

"Uncle, out for a walk?"

Xu Yang greeted the old man with a smile.

"Just taking a stroll, are you heading home?"

The old man responded.

"Going to the river to catch some fish."

Xu Yang shook the net in his hand and said, "Trying to catch some fish for frying up some fish sauce."

The old man nodded, a look of longing on his face, "Fried fish sauce sounds good, the fish are fattest around this time."

"Can also catch some small crabs."

The two chatted for a bit before continuing to walk their respective animals.

Xu Yang made his way to the riverbank, where a few middle-aged men were fishing, all from the county town and specifically there for fishing.

Seeing Xu Yang, they looked up for a while.

They knew Xu Yang was a big livestreamer, but they just watched without pulling out their phones to shoot videos or having any intention of taking pictures with him.

For the fishing enthusiasts, none of that mattered.

Xu Yang preferred it that way, as it made life more relaxed.

The fishermen were fishing in the deeper part of the river, where their hooks could drop down to catch bigger fish.

Xu Yang walked downstream to the shallower part of the river.

The water there just passed the ankles.

He could wade into the water to catch fish.

Xu Yang looked into the river and indeed saw some fish, though they were all very small.

That was just fine.

He took off his shoes and walked into the water. Despite the hot weather, the river water was cool and refreshing, and he felt a bit uncomfortable upon first entering.

Seeing Xu Yang step into the river, the dogs also splashed in after him, scaring away the fish.

"Play by the side, don’t come over here."

Xu Yang yelled at them.

Hearing Xu Yang’s words, the dogs ran back and waited by the shore.

Xu Yang then picked up the net and held still, quietly waiting for fish to pass by.

With his hunting skills, catching a few small fish was no difficult task.

The river was clear, and soon some fish swam by. Xu Yang, quick and alert, scooped up several with a single swipe of the net.

This was his normal routine, the life of a farmer in the mountain village.

He didn’t think about livestreaming during his free time; he just roamed aimlessly in the mountains.

"Got some fish."

Xu Yang looked at the fish in the net with great joy, walking to the shore to put them in the bucket.

The dogs played happily by themselves.

The scene was relaxed and enjoyable.

Afterward, Xu Yang continued catching fish in the river.

An hour of busy work passed by, and with enough fish caught, Xu Yang walked back to his family’s store for Mrs. Xu to fry up some fish sauce that night.

Xu Hongshan looked with interest at the dogs Xu Yang was raising, especially Little Wolf.

Xu Hongshan couldn’t help but ask:

"Whose dog is that? Looks quite nice."

Upon hearing this, Xu Yang replied:

"I found it in the mountains, it’s not a dog, but a little wolf cub."

"A wolf cub?"

Xu Hongshan’s face was full of shock, his eyes brimming with excitement.

"You’re raising a wolf cub now?"

"I was wondering why it looked different."

"Not bad."

Xu Hongshan crouched down and picked up the little wolf, examining it for a while.

The little wolf looked at him with an innocent and somewhat wary gaze.

Little Wolf felt that the person in front of it didn’t quite seem like a good person.

However, the little one’s nature was gentle, so it didn’t have much reaction.

It just "awoo" cried out, cutely.
